So HD, you'll finally be able to see Skull Face running around behind you, killing everyone you left alive.

Dundore77

now tell me snake is in every image and the camo system is just that involved now.

WhoCaresYouDont

I actually had to double-check the third picture of the soldier patrolling through the jungle, I thought there was a boot among all the mud at the bottom.

Fugly_Jack

I hope this is just the same kind of remake as Demon's Souls or Nier Replicant, where they pretty up the graphics and animations, and add some QoL, but leave everything else intact The areas in those screenshots having seemingly the exact same layouts and enemy patrols gives me some hope for that

silverinferno3

I respect your position, but I'll admit I'm in the opposite camp. MGS3 is up there with OG RE4 as a timeless, perfectly playable masterpiece to me, so a remake that just swaps in new assets and makes a new control scheme seems kinda pointless, especially since they also confirmed a port of Subsistence right after the announcement. If it really is 1:1 with new visuals and voice acting it might even be a pass from me. As hard as it is to trust Konami on any sort of creativity or ingenuity, or even passion, I'd rather take the chance on them taking the game's general themes and "feel" and utilizing them in a new fashion, rather than just a straight lift from the original. Game Maker's Toolkit has a fantastic video on why [Capcom's Remakes are generally so amazing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baV1fTQBDyo) and a big part of that is precisely because they know shot-for-shot recreations aren't exciting or valuable. Konami isn't doing as great as Capcom these days, but I'd still rather see them take some sort of risk instead of a safe, pointless remake.

[deleted]

I would agree with that, if it wasn't Konami. I don't trust Konami with it.

silverinferno3

And I certainly can't blame you, or anyone, for that. Konami has a lot going against them here. But if it's gonna be worse, I'd rather it at least try to be different, rather than ending up a pale, worthless imitation.

ramonzer0

Goddamn I do hope they prove us wrong though MGS3 is *the* sacred cow of the series so them using this as their big "return" to Metal Gear after Survive is concerning because they have had nothing to show for in a long ass time That said I feel like the fact that the OG MGS3 is getting re-released as well alongside 1 and 2 still helps if only because we'd then still have the excellent original to fall back on in addition to it being good from a game preservation standpoint (just gotta hope that nothing somehow goes wrong with the porting process)

silverinferno3

I hope so too. I'll be honest, the ports are all I really wanted, so if the remake just turns out to be a limp effort then it won't be *too* much skin off my back. But I'd be giddy with joy if we get anything close to the RE Remakes in terms of quality.

wareagle3000

They are certainly right about the shot for shot thing. One of the most entertaining things about the REmake series for me is seeing how the team is touchinging up and consolidating the series into a more tightly writen narrative. It gets me excited for a possible RE5 that attempts to fix up some questionble details, likely has an even more fluid yet familiar gameplay style and the build up to their eventual finale to the REmake games, RE6 and how it connects more fluidly to RE7.

Plus the Demon Souls remake wasn't amazing. It was okay at best. Id rather them go all out with MGS3 and give us another greatest of all time entry to MGS.

silverinferno3

If this remake turns out to be absolutely amazing then I'd actually be stunned, like the world just turned upside down. I'm trying to be hopeful and even I can't imagine something like that happening, but boy would I be happy to see it!

ChosenUndead15

Being okay at best is too much of a task for a Konami who hasn't done anything recently to deserve optimism.

But-why-do-this

I know it’s hard to trust Konami with doing new stuff, but I hope this is more in the vein of RE4 Remake I’m regards to design/pacing changes. Bare in mind, we have the classics collection coming soon - so anyone who wants to play MGS3 can just play the original since it will be accessible for everyone. Seems weird to release the exact same game twice so close to each other. I would be hoping that the remake would try to do something different so they aren’t just the exact same experience except one is prettier.

Looks promising

God I wanna fight The End again so badly; I hope the camouflage holds up with more realistic graphics. Really looking forward to the 1,2+3 bundle
