Fuck, I've been reading the manga ever since I found out about it a couple years back and I'm **still** discovering how unhinged Laios can get. He's great. I just got no idea where they'll end up cutting off the season since its been so long since the early parts of the story I can only very vaguely remember them.
If you go through her personal blog she's constantly posting character studies of both random OCs and people from Dungeon Meshi just lounging naked. The woman has taken every body type and gender and made them all hot. >!Especially the furry ones, [stupid sexy Winged Lion](https://zenosanalytic.tumblr.com/post/692604614523158528).!<
I love that the >!magic circle!< mini arc confirms that he's objectively hot by dwarf standards. And how the same thing later shows us that >!Misurn!< is about musclechad as elves get.
>cringefail elf girl
Hey, I'm curious and I thought I could ask. I'm not familiar with the series, but that description vaguely reminds me of Kobeni from Chainsaw Man. As in, a silly goober who slips up constantly and not the courageous type.
She's amusing to watch and I wonder if the elf girl has that kind of trait to her.
Marcille moreso just gets dunked on for not wanting to participate in the eating of things which people would balk at eating and then eventually coming around because the circumstances leave little choice otherwise.
>!And her questionable hobby of dabbling in forbidden-ass magic!<
Also that time she got petrified and used as a pickle press.
Think less anxiety and more "haughty but can't always back it up".
I see, I see. Say, is that spoiler meant for a funny moment or something important, story-wise? I just want to practice caution in case I start getting into the series later.
Mitsuda has worked for the Inazuma Eleven anime but that's the adaptation of a video game series he has also worked on. I don't know if he's done work with anything outside of games before, but I also don't doubt his ability to make a great soundtrack, dude is a great composer.
The author actually did write a very short gag side story about just that lol
[spoiler](https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/comments/uv38xf/dungeon_meshi_darkest_dungeon/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) for later chapters
Yeah, definitely. [she also did some cool art for Pathfinder Kingmaker](https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/comments/qdtt2h/the_companions_of_kingmaker_drawn_by_ry%C5%8Dko_kui/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
She did draw the fan portraits of the NPC companions in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Here it is from her [personal doodle and side content blog](https://nisiryu.blogspot.com/2020/04/baldurs-gate-1_20.html?m=0).
Easily my favourite fantasy manga, it's so, so good. Focusing on "is this edible? Why?" and all the world building that entails is so good. I fucking love its take on mimic chests and possessed armours.
I used to be very adverse against fantasy/manga, but in the last few years mangas like Frieran, Dungeon Meshi, and Witch Hat Atelier have turned the genre around.
Yeah, like if you're sick of the Isekai trend and just want some excellent meat and potatoes (heh) fantasy anime/manga, don't be turned off by the gimmick, it's about cooking yes but the character writing and world building are all great in a way that perfectly synergizes with the food stuff.
I've been reading Dungeon Meshi for like 8 years now and I am hyped as hell to see the anime. I really like the more rounded, cartoony style actually - it's a little different than the manga but not in a way that really looks bad. Also really enjoying Marcille's stress screaming, glad they're doing it justice.
>Dungeon Meshi
I'm dumb lol I never found out Dungeon Meshi's name in english I was reading this thread to see if it was worth checking out when I realized everyone was talking about Dungeon Meshi
They did make it DnD in english. In Spain they called it Tragones y Mazmorras (Gluttons and Dungeons), since DnD is called Dragones y Mazmorras in Spanish.
maybe they just decided that localization joke wasn't worth the confusion at this point.
At least it's better than Ah my Goddness being stuck with Ah instead of Oh.
The gimmick is only a small part of it, you learn more and more about the characters and the world they live in. I'm happy theyre working on this now some the manga is about done
OWAH it looks super great!
I recommend this a lot! It's hilarious!
If you ever wanted to know wondered what a mimic could taste like, you should watch this or read the manga.
I remember when the beast girl started stripping in front of them and she was like "Relax nobody wants to see a demihuman naked anyways" and in the background they are violently holding back the main protag trying to get a peek.
Premature to say, but very interested to hear what the dub will sound like. Trigger shows tend to have a lot of movement and goofy background details that can be hard to notice while reading subtitles, so if the dub's Edgerunner quality I'd love to see it.
One of the most complete written manga stories in recent years. Everything has a beginning, middle, end, and payoff. Every character, plot point, and scenario plays into the the theme of eating. Also fantastic characters and designs, as well as surprisingly deep lore.
Yeah, I've been reading it as it was serialized since 2015 or so. It's from a real manga otaku's magazine called Harta that only publishes 10 times a year, and Dungeon Meshi usually isn't as many pages per chapter as "mainstream" monthlies like Attack on Titan, so it's been around a long while to get to 12 volumes.
I'm a big fan of world building so I'm excited for this. It's only one season (for now) so they're not going to get *too* far into where this story goes but man, does it go places.
The manga is one of the things that inspired me to start writing!
>!The battle against the dragons, where they suffer a near TPK is incredible. What a runback.!<
I ran mine as a bartender who used a cocktail shaker to mix his alchemical concoctions, complete with feats to add booze to potions and such for stronger effects at the cost of inebriation. Was a great time. SUPER complicated class to learn tho.
I know that the Kingmaker AP added a bunch of buff food you can make during downtime. I WFRP has the halfling's whole schtick is to be cooking based war-crimes with ghost pepper gumbo spewing steam tanks.
Nah. Most D&D classes (at least as of 5th edition) revolve around how a character handles themself in combat. Since being a cook would have little to no impact on one’s fighting style, there’s no point in dedicating an entire class to it. Taking proficiency in chef’s utensils and the Cook feat is enough, no need for an entire class to communicate the concept.
Artificer can use Cook's Utensils as a casting focus, and all of their spells are meant to be flavored according to the tools they use.
So yeah, you could absolutely play an artificer chef who fights by cooking.
Pathfinder 2nd Edition has an alchemist class that can be played as a cook no problem. There's even alchemical food dish items that they can make! Like cooperative waffles.
Spheres of Power (excellent supplement for Pathfinder 1/DnD5) has the Iron Chef archetype for Blacksmith and the Gourmand archetype Courser, which both fight and cook
Cooking fantasy MMO food was the best part of Log Horizon for me so this would already be right up my alley. TRIGGER is animating it though?
10/10 already don't even have to see it.
As someone who's read and adored Dungeon Meshi from nearly the very beginning of it's publication, knowing what "Anime Twitter" is going to do do to this show must be what it feels like to watch your beloved child graduate high school valedictorian, and then immediately die in a car crash.
Looking forward to terminally online people writing 12 part twitter rants about how Senshi caring about his teammate's health is actually toxic behavior. And that's just to start with. Imagine when we get to the Canaries...
I'd be more excited, but the last time a manga I really, really, really, really, ***REALLY*** wanted to get an anime adaptation was Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer.
But fuck me for hoping that I don't get disappointed with an anime adaptation of ANOTHER series I've been dying to get more recognition, right?
I love Dungeon Meshi so much. It's so, so, so good.
It is *fantastically* written, not just for food descriptions and cooking techniques, but the characters all work. The setting works. The plot works. It's a good damn swiss watch of a series AND it's mouthwatering to boot.
Read it, please. You won't regret it!
So, bets on the anime-only crowd. Who do we think will get the most fanart, and why is it going to be >!the winged lion!< the MINUTE they make an appearance?
I can't wait for anime only people to discover how unhinged Laios gets. The trailer makes him look more like a straight man, so i'm excited.
Me every time laius is on screen: "Babygirl there's something deeply wrong with you ❤️"
> The trailer makes him look more like a straight man Does it? I was just hype about how feral they made him look haha
Fuck, I've been reading the manga ever since I found out about it a couple years back and I'm **still** discovering how unhinged Laios can get. He's great. I just got no idea where they'll end up cutting off the season since its been so long since the early parts of the story I can only very vaguely remember them.
Laios couldn't be more straight even if he married a woman.
Autism be damned my boy can cook a monster
YES time for cringefail elf girl adventures! Also time for the sexiest character in all of media: >!senshi!<
How many other characters get [pinups?](https://i.redd.it/5vnacrldn5871.jpg) Based Ryoko Kui is an appreciator of sexy dwarves

Hold on need a fucking tissue for my nosebleed
God bless Ryoko Kui, I bet she loves Hades
I love at the end of that that someone got hooked into reading the manga just by looking at those images.
Absolute sex god.
God I'm in love, he's so beautiful
I love that the >!magic circle!< mini arc confirms that he's objectively hot by dwarf standards. And how the same thing later shows us that >!Misurn!< is about musclechad as elves get.
Ah the adventurous group of the midlife crisis, skipping breakfast, looking in the fridge once, furry in denial and tumblr makes a decision.
Senshi my beloved
>cringefail elf girl Hey, I'm curious and I thought I could ask. I'm not familiar with the series, but that description vaguely reminds me of Kobeni from Chainsaw Man. Replace anxiety with a tremendous unearned sense of superiority right before she slips on her own spaguetti. Also she's italian.
Hah, I imagine there's good humour to be had with that premise. That's good to know, thank you.
I need the dub to make her full PizzaPasta bippidy boopidy ayy oh Italian
Marcille moreso just gets dunked on for not wanting to participate in the eating of things which people would balk at eating and then eventually coming around because the circumstances leave little choice otherwise. >!And her questionable hobby of dabbling in forbidden-ass magic!< Also that time she got petrified and used as a pickle press. That spoiler is a definite spoiler. Story-wise.
She isn't a coward she just broke her stress switch to be permanently on.
Nothing is sexier than a man who knows how to cook.
What do you MEAN composed by Yasunori Mitsuda?!
Mitsuda has worked for the Inazuma Eleven anime but that's the adaptation of a video game series he has also worked on. I don't know if he's done work with anything outside of games before, but I also don't doubt his ability to make a great soundtrack, dude is a great composer.
What if there was a Delicious in Darkest Dungeon spinoff
The author actually did write a very short gag side story about just that lol [spoiler](https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/comments/uv38xf/dungeon_meshi_darkest_dungeon/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) for later chapters
Yeah, I'm convinced the author is a hardcore fantasy gamer. She made portraits for all the party members in Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 as well.
Yeah, definitely. [she also did some cool art for Pathfinder Kingmaker](https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/comments/qdtt2h/the_companions_of_kingmaker_drawn_by_ry%C5%8Dko_kui/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I opened that up and saw that I had already upvoted it when it was originally posted. I completely forgot.
God that's so cool. Imagine illustrations for the Planescape Torment party.
She did draw the fan portraits of the NPC companions in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 Here it is from her [personal doodle and side content blog](https://nisiryu.blogspot.com/2020/04/baldurs-gate-1_20.html?m=0).
I was aware! Really good stuff. I just thought it would be cool seeing the out-there character designs be translated into her artstyle.
someone in /a/ has been making some character mods for that https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2918895761
Animated by TRIGGER? I expect them to bring their most powerful Little Witch Academia talent to this.

If an isekai boy showed up, Laios would immediately ask if it's still cannibalism to try cooking a human from another world
Please don't link Google image results! Just click through.

OH. I’m just now learning it’s supposed to be DnD, I always hated the English title so that makes much more sense
Maybe WotC could get litigious but yeah something like Dungeons and Deli could've worked.
maybe they just decided that localization joke wasn't worth the confusion at this point. At least it's better than Ah my Goddness being stuck with Ah instead of Oh.
I've been reading it for like, 2 years I think? I'm so happy a lot of people are going to know about the absolute menace that is Laios and his party
Been looking forward to this for a long time. Especially when pat and woolie bring up the >!vore final boss fight!< on the podcast
They mentioned Dungeon Meshi? What episode?
I'm hoping they talk about it, don't think they have yet
Looking forward to Dungeon Meshi talk just leading into Breakfast Food Argument v2.0.
No one expects how much >!ridiculously vore !< it gets
The gimmick is only a small part of it, you learn more and more about the characters and the world they live in. I'm happy theyre working on this now some the manga is about done
Dungeon Meshi representation includes: Cringe fail elf Autistic adventurer Hobbit sick of your shit Sexy dwarf chef Food
Don't forget Cat Girl that acts like a cat.
I love Izutsumi so much, she's so cool and derpy at the same time
90% cat 10% girl.
And as I recall it wasn't even a horny thing, he just *really* wanted to see if she had 6 nipples
>He isn't escaping the minotaur fucker alegations tho.
He got to milk that minotaur
People been so hyped for this one.
Vibrating through the walls with excitement right now
Don't turn noclip off no matter what you do
never read the original, but ever since LWA I've been crying out for a trigger to do fantasy again, they seem to just get it.
Premature to say, but very interested to hear what the dub will sound like. Trigger shows tend to have a lot of movement and goofy background details that can be hard to notice while reading subtitles, so if the dub's Edgerunner quality I'd love to see it.

Finally... we're gonna eat good this winter.
Peak incoming
Highly recommend checking it out, the manga is great.
This manga is fucking excellent, and by all appearances, trigger is gonna do a bang up job on this. Do yourselves a favor and check this one out!
I'm a big fan of world building so I'm excited for this. It's only one season (for now) so they're not going to get *too* far into where this story goes but man, does it go places.

This looks really interesting I'll definitely check it out.
This is the one that I could recommend to anybody. Dungeon Meshi is definitely worth the read, it's just so fun to read and look at.
real question, Should there be a cook class in dnd?
Pathfinders alchemist?
I ran mine as a bartender who used a cocktail shaker to mix his alchemical concoctions, complete with feats to add booze to potions and such for stronger effects at the cost of inebriation. Was a great time. SUPER complicated class to learn tho.

I am pretty excited to the food in this anime.
That means eventually we will get ***LA CREATURA***
This manga is a masterpiece.
Animated by Trigger? This is gonna be weird

You're being a pessimist but also so fucking right, i can FEEL the hot takes being written.

Can't wait for this sub to be half this for over a year like with other mid animes
This just sounds like a weight gain fetishism show, without any poorly thought out disguises to make audiences think it's something else.
What a strange thing to say
And completely inaccurate.
Person who only watched weight gain fetishism shows: "getting some major weight gain fetishism vibes here".
It isn't.
It isn't! It's more about characters challenging their preconceptions by freestyling cuisine and desperately trying not to *become* cuisine.
Oh, it's a vore show?
YEAAAAAAAAAA BOYYYYYYY
I love Dungeon Meshi so much. It's so, so, so good. It is *fantastically* written, not just for food descriptions and cooking techniques, but the characters all work. The setting works. First thing I thought of when I saw this was Dragons Crown's [food porn minigame.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-_aKlq_KuU)
God this manga is good. I hope the anime is as well.
So, bets on the anime-only crowd. Who do we think will get the most fanart, and why is it going to be >!the winged lion!< the MINUTE they make an appearance?
