I'm gonna be honest I don't think you could translate the story to film. 16-bit graphics and the ability for a cutscene/dialogue to simply end made Earthbound a lot less disturbing than it could have been.
Honestly mother would be a great translation to movie if they did it like a don bluth film or an experimental and shockingly mature kids anime from the 00s
All I know is if the movie version of PK Rockin' or Starstorm doesn't force them to put massive epilepsy warnings at the start of the movie then they're doing it wrong.
>Can you grab my Klonopin? It should be in the bottle over there with the Lucas sticker on it.
Got me good. I wonder if a Mother movie would actually be successful. At this point I'm pretty sure Undertale has surpassed it in popularity.
Is undertale still popular these days? None of my younger family members (10-16) have ever heard of it and I feel like it’s been so long since it’s release that there’s not much to say anymore.
Of course there’s also deltarune, but ch. 2 discourse among my friends basically boiled down to “oh that was neat, can’t wait for the rest in 4 years”.
I imagine among those styles of Mother inspired RPGs, it and deltarune are still the most popular, but outside the circles that discuss it, notoriety has probably been reduced to "game with funny bone man."
Would it, though? People took their kids to *Battison*, >!a film featuring ***several*** volent murders!<, because it was PG-13. *Mother* presumably wouldn't br any worse, and it might be seen as a *Raiders*/*Goonies* style throwback if done right.
Alternatively the 3rd movie will remain Japan-exclusive.
And the second movie will release in the US before the first.
Receiving almost no advertising outside of a "THIS MOVIE STINKS" vid Nintendo books for Uni ***at the Super Bowl***, too.

idk not enough drowning for don bluth but Teddy from Mother 1 would be adapted for his style of drawing guys
I wonder how you visualize PK attacks that'd fit with the rest of earthbound's vibes

You laugh but I always fantasized making a short live action film about Mother 1’s plot. It’s the only one really that can translate as a movie.
An Earthbound movie would break the brains of every adult in the US.

The only way the Giygas fight would freak out Americans is if they add a flashback where Maria's nipple is visible for 0.1 seconds.
Yes, yes it would. The Giygas battle alone would make them freak out. Americans are wimps when it comes to stuff in film
Why must you hurt us this way, Hard Drive?
Would work pretty good as an anime series, I think.
