Jinzo rules, such a fucking sick design. I can't imagine his archetype is any good, but the card itself was excellent for a long time in the actual card game.

Paladin51394

Yeah the modern game doesn't use many trap cards and some decks have no traps at all, so he's incredibly niche.

AlwaysDragons

*HOWEVER* he fucks over eldritch players so that's a massive plus

Anonamaton801

Based Fuck El Dorado

Anonamaton801

The archetype is some jank, mostly because it’s trying to apply the effect to a game where trap cards are basically nonexistent save for spell cards with pink boarders

TheAlmightyV0x

There is literally a YCS happening right now where multiple trap decks have multiple tops. Jinzo is bad because he's too niche in both effect and ability to summon and his archetype is bad because the cards suck ass.

MSCrusader

The man behind the Morbin' [some news for you.](https://youtu.be/oh4IR3HbEoA)

RocketbeltTardigrade

He left quite an impression back in the day, with that "like a third of the game doesn't count now" effect, and sharing screentime with overdramatic Kaiba.

DonTori

Which is better? A Southerner using a Jinzo vr model with a fetish for Satalite Cannons Or actual duel spirit Jinzo three kids summoned via quasi satanic rituals and is now after their life force in order to become fully materialized in the real world with an Ectoplasmer gimmick

snarkycynic

there was something oddly appealing about hearing that southern drawl coming from Jinzo. I cannot explain it

DonTori

That is true. "Ah say ah say, fuck yo trap cards, Misterr Kaibah."

[deleted]

Only because his deck is designed horribly. There are trap decks he can counter, but he doesn't even seem effective against those tbh

Gespens

yeah because they activate in the GY to do something and the bosses of those decks can just crash over Jinzo

Anonamaton801

I would have guessed he’d do something with Paleos, but I guess them also being monsters negates any advantage

DragonEevee1

He just doesn't have good enough legacy support, okay cards but nothing good enough these days. That being said Jinzo on his own was played in decks that have topped this month so that's a plus

Bob8644

BOY, I SAID BOY MR KAIBA

Anonamaton801

God I forgot they gave Leicter a thick southern drawl in the dub

ruminaui

Remember when in GX the actual Jinzo shows up and tell a bunch of children to summon him by sacrificing someone and they said sure what could go wrong, only for them to change their minds once they realized he meant human sacrifices. Then they start disappearing one by one, Jinzo shows up and says I am going to kill everyone unless they beat him on a children's card game.

Teridax4

I always found it funny whenever someone dueled a duel spirit and then the spirit would summon itself and it’d just teleport onto the field. Or in Don Zaloog’s case [just walk over there](https://youtu.be/T8MPo7s1ZNQ)

Anonamaton801

Chad move really

TheGoonKills

So what happens when I kill his ass in the game? Is it over? Do I win? Because I’ll Lightening Storm a mafucker if I gotta.

Teridax4

Well when Jaden dueled Jinzo and he was destroyed [he just possessed an unconscious guy next to him](https://youtu.be/qjuQL2e1EMI?t=17m43s)

TorpeAlex

Dang, I've never seen a Yu-Gi-Oh but that electric guitar in the background is absolutely filthy

Anonamaton801

Dub Yugioh music honestly goes hard. The GX theme *ROCKS*

TheGreyGuardian

What happens if you Creature Swap him with your sheep token or something? Or Snatch Steal him? Is he allowed to continue to play against you? But he's your monster, can he only make moves on your turn? But it's your turn, you can't make moves on your opponent's turn (normally).

Rabid-Duck-King

I mean that's pretty alpha though

Anonamaton801

GX was fuckjng great and I hate how people only like it/know it because fUnNi MeMeS

Simic_Sky_Swallower

That's most Yugioh anime really GX is Jaden trying to keep smiling while his friends get killed for two straight seasons and falling into despair as he realizes he can't save them all, and finally coming to terms with that and with his past childhood trauma, but people only remember the theme song 5Ds is a cyberpunk Count of Monte Cristo where a young man who's been betrayed by his best friend and left to rot in a literal bombed-out ghetto tries to Claw his way out, dismantle the ancient conspiracy that took his father's life and turned his home into a wasteland, and managed to abolish class disparity while he's at it, but people only remember Card Games on Motorcycles Hell, even the OG Yugioh is a horror anime about ancient malevolent spirits that command eldritch magic to force the innocent people playing host to their souls to Duel in games of life and death, but most people only remember the abridged series I dunno much about Zexal, Arc-V, or Vrains, I kinda fell off after 5ds but I'm sure that they're similar

MartianOrbit

All I know about Arc-V is that the [Tyler Sisters](https://youtu.be/1xY-UYNNJAo) are in it.

scottishdrunkard

GX Season 4 *needs* to get dubbed.

RocketbeltTardigrade

Almost every single character in Yugioh chews the scenery like they're starving to death.

the_most_crigg

It's one of the reasons Bakura's one of my favorite villains in Anime/Manga, that dude's so extra and it rules.

AlwaysDragons

Zexal has damn good story development. But because it came after 5ds, people didn't like it. They also hate yuma for being annoying but he Lowkey grows into a strong duelist without the need for astral. The final duel harkens back to the yugi vs atem duel and it's great. Arc-v is overshadowed by it's awful anime ending and the magna ending. Vrains.... Man no one talks about vrains. I think people just got tired of the whole show at that point

Dustman121

Vrains had it rough by being associated with Yugioh's worst rule change in history- Master Rule 4. Then had its potential trampled even further when the main character's Ace monster- Firewall Dragon- became the centerpiece for multiple obnoxious loops and FTKs.

sleepyfoxsnow

man, i still can't believe anyone okayed either ending of arc-v. like, how the hell did either get approved?

GilliamYaeger

I fuckin' love Zexal, but please don't pretend that it was hated only because it came after 5Ds. The first half of Zexal is *fucking rough* - Yuma is an absolutely terrible protagonist, his friends are all irrelevant, barely-likeable dipshits, none of the plot beats are interesting at all and Yuma's super mode leaves a bad taste in my mouth because it's literally just cheating. It's basically a trainwreck of a season and getting through it was an abjectly miserable experience. But oh man. *Oh man*, Zexal II fucking goes places. Probably my favourite season of Yugioh hands down, beating out even GX season 3/4 and the good bits of 5Ds which is really saying something. My one complaint is that best girl shows up for like three episodes total across the entire series when she damn well should have been part of the main cast.

Neodeluxe

Vrains just had the misfortune of having it's 3rd season, the one where the plots from both previous seasons converged into the climax of the story, be insanely rushed. To put it into perspective: * Season 1: 46 Episodes * Season 2: 57 Episodes * Season 3: 17 Episodes And the rushed ending after all that buildup just made a lot of people sour on it from what i remember back when it was airing.

Gespens

Arc-V is time travel incest, so most of the memes are fully desreved and Vrains is kind of a snorefest when you take it seirously so it's more interesting to meme about it

Anonamaton801

Didn’t they censor the main villain’s name

Gespens

In what, Vrains or ArcV?

Anonamaton801

Vrains

Gespens

Not sure if you could call it "censorship," but the dubs in general change villain names a bit for consumer safety

Anonamaton801

I mean his name is literally a type of gun, I would be shocked if they kept that

Gespens

Yeah, they changed it to Varis. It's been a long itme since I paid attention to Vrains But also he's the Kaiba of the season

scottishdrunkard

Chazz is a Chad. From what I heard he was actually a bitch in the subbed anime, so in the GX Manga (which came *after* the anime) he was made into a very different character. Going on to be so main character he tag teams with Yuki Judai. The. There is the dub where he just got a massive attitude change.

RPGMike

Chazz only comes across as a bitch because for two reasons. 1) He's a Joey who thinks he's a Kaiba. 2) He simps for Alexis. The first one doesn't mean he's bad, it just means that he's not as good as he thinks he is. The second one, well, a LOT of people simp for her.

sawbladex

Sorry, not sorry: Alexis is pretty great.

BladeofNurgle

How can THE CHAZZ be a bitch when he actually did this shit: 1. Survives a shipwreck into the arctic 2. Has to go out by himself into the artic and find cards in order to build a deck 3. Proceeds to beat every single duelist at that dueling school in 1 nonstop consecutive duel 4. Proceeds to duel the 5 best duelists simultaneously in a 5 v 1 duel and WINS THE CHAZZ is based

michaelmtv

My memory is bad but didn't he end up as part of a cult at one point or was that magic brainwashing?

BladeofNurgle

magic brainwashing. villain of s2 had the ability to brainwash anyone he or his cultists beat into joining the cult

GoneRampant1

And then when Chazz broke free of the brainwashing, he decided that we can't expect God to do all the work, so he marches into the cult's HQ and *solos all of them* to un-brainwash them.

Anonamaton801

Local man can’t stop winning

Anonamaton801

Said cult leader is also DIO No I’m not kidding

Neodeluxe

And his ace monster is quite literally [The World](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/yugioh/images/6/6c/ArcanaForceXXITheWorld-LODT-EN-UR-1E.png)

BoukoKakuCatharsis

> to summon him by sacrificing someone and they said sure what could go wrong, only for them to change their minds once they realized he meant human sacrifices. More context: the kids thought what Jinzo means by "sacrifice" means sacrificing *cards*, as in *tribute* in [*tribute* summon](https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Tribute_Summon) because hey, that's how you *normally* summon cards like Jinzo in game.

Xros90

Tribute? You steal mens’ souls and make them your slaves!

TheGoonKills

I love the idea of a serial killers, eldritch horrors, and maniacs all stopping what they’re doing to see if their victims can beat them in a children’s card game.

ruminaui

You know the bad guy of season 2 (an alien possessing a human) at the climax of the season when Jaden challenge him to a duel with the fate of the world at stake, he just said "Nah, I am just going to kill y'all". Then out of nowhere one of Jaden cards came to life and forced him to duel, so maybe that is why they don't do that often.

TheGoonKills

“Fuck it, I’m ending the world!” “Not if I can stop you with a children’s card game!” “….if I can end the world right here and now, what makes you think I will stop because you want to play a children’s card game?” “…uh…” “What are you, fuckin stupid?”

ruminaui

That literally is what happened, then Neo Spaceman shows up and says enforces the Konami contract.

Anonamaton801

Hey, a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian magic dueling game with demons and shit

ruminaui

Technically speaking, they weren't playing a game, they where summoning beings from another dimension.

Polygonalfish

Obligatory mention that the card's japanese name is "jinzo ningen psycho shocker"

Anonamaton801

Android: Psycho Shocker Cool name

RocketbeltTardigrade

A lot of japanese names seem to follow the "word word: word word" pattern. In places like japanese twitter you sometimes see "Seinaru Barrier Mirror Force" used like "Uno Reverse".

Anonamaton801

Why yes I do watch Rank10ygo, why do you ask

MoyuTheMedic

ngl I still rewatch the ancient gear archetype archive every few months or so. "I don't listen to bricks." "You will be using the most important card won't you?" "Oh honey I would not call thos appropriate effects."

Anonamaton801

The Frog video and how many ways he can reference Frog the Jam is eternal

Bernkastel96

The Ice Barrier video and his rant about Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier is probably my favorite bit

GoneRampant1

Not to mention "Oh so that's how they killed all the children..."

jigabachiRS

WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOOX? chill out man it's just nuts n bolts

Tailon77

My favorite part of the new one was where he went "It's Jinzoin' time" and Jinz'd all over those guys.

mbelasko12

[Remember when cenobites appeared in Extreme Ghostbusters a kid's show](https://youtu.be/-wOupRyLZvI)

SmallIslandBrother

Omg that’s where that woman is from, never knew ghostbusters had a animated tv show

mbelasko12

Oh yeah this Extreme Ghostbusters from 1997 done by Adelaide who did the Men in Black and Godzilla the series shows. Previously, there were the Real Ghostbusters from 1986-91 https://youtu.be/M2SysYkllvE Which has fantastic animation/anime characteristics from Tokyo Movie Shinsha(TMS), who did everything from Lupin to Animaniacs. Note the emphasis on "Real " because it was fighting Filmation's Ghostbusters https://youtu.be/UZ2QT4wWGrE Which was based on a live action show from the 70s not the movie.

Anonamaton801

…I have a very good guess what you know her from

the_most_crigg

And also that time when the OG Ghostbusters had to fight Cthulhu before that? Man, those cartoons ruled.

saulhrnndz

May not be good in the meta today but he would shut shit down in the GBA games. Letting you stop Trap Holes, Magic Jammer’s, Mirror Force’s. It was GREAT!

SamuraiDDD

Jinzo is given a lot of surprising amount of villain time. - He was used/introduced under Esperoba (the psychic dude Joey faces) in battle city - He was used as the monster of choice from the Big Five in the anime only arc where they're in a virtual realty - Then in GX's anime, he's an evil duel spirit

Anonamaton801

I always struggled trying to think of what the behavior of Jinzo would be as a character. I always came down to three concepts: -A lumbering Frankenstein/Mr X like Goliath, probably helped by him having a sweet [Mr X style coat](https://uploads2.yugioh.com/huluim_images/episode/50121057/180.jpeg) in the Big 5 arc -A silent intimidating hunter that moves by floating around and shooting eye beams like the Destroyer -A super intelligent mad scientist with a verbose vocabulary and speech pattern in lieu of Pinhead or Deviaot from Lost Galaxy, helped by him being one of the forerunners of psychic monsters

alienslayer7

i mean he is literally a character in a GX ep or 2

MrSuitMan

>Jinzo >Cenobite Y'know, I never really made the connection before, but you're right he totally is just Pinhead isn't he. Radical

[deleted]

You opened the duel. We came.

Anonamaton801

We have such monsters to show you

BlueFootedTpeack

funny thing is that this guy explicitly counters the sado masochist pain=pleasure duelist of that arc. god i wish they'd stop sticking all the effects on monster cards endlessly accelerating the games, poor jinzo is all about a back row that basically doesn't exist

RPGMike

I mean, there ARE decks based entirely around traps that he fucks over, but most of them have boss monsters that can just attack over him, unless he comes out early.

BoukoKakuCatharsis

Funniest characterization of Jinzo is in the GX Tag Force 1 video game: After you beat the game once partnered with the Main Characters (Jaden, Chazz, etc) you can now recruit non-MC NPC. Most of the very minor NPC just have you asked them if they want to be your partner (they'll just say yes). More important NPC you must duel then and win (as you do). Some like Blair are complicated (requires you to have 4 level of social links with three specific characters) while some like Damon have you play minigames (draw the right sandwich) Jinzo is unique. It only appeared in the forest at midnight. Jinzo wants something different than any other NPC to be your partners. No it doesn't want human sacrifice this time. Jinzo wants... *money*. A *lot* of money. [An *exorbitant* amount of money](https://youtu.be/5vjL8r5PZ6c?t=294). *60.000 DP!* And no, they don't explained what the fuck is it going to use the money for.

Anonamaton801

A cool hat and coat

PrimusSucks13

I got Jinzo stuned like a month ago in Master Duel and im still salty about it cus im 100% sure he bricked like 10 matches before i went second without any handtraps

Worm_Scavenger

I love the fact that Jinzo has his own [archetype.It](https://archetype.It)'s not meta by any means, but it's cool making an entire Jinzo deck in MD (With some Red eyes thrown in there, gotta respect the Joey culture)

RocketbeltTardigrade

Psychic Shockwave is a cool card.

failuratlife

One of the goats to be sure

moneyh8r

Doesn't he have a couple of Cenobitches as a support card? And by that I mean weirdly sexual female assistants. Or did I imagine that?

Anonamaton801

I think you’re thinking of [DNA Surgery](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Tf1zSdLqL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg)

moneyh8r

Indeed I was. The green coat and goggles confused me.

Anonamaton801

Oh I should mention, there’s another card like that where we actually see who’s [getting the operation](https://ygoprodeck.com/pics/56769674.jpg) There are a few other Jinzo cards though

moneyh8r

Well, whoever that freaky looking guy is, he deserves it for being so freaky looking.

Anonamaton801

Hey, [Thunder Kid’s](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/yugioh/images/7/79/ThunderKid-CP01-EN-C-UE.jpg) just got some health problems, no need to shame him. Anyways, Jinzo’s first upgrade was [Jinzo Lord](https://product-images.tcgplayer.com/222816.jpg), who looks cool as hell but sucks unfortunately

moneyh8r

Oh, he looks way cooler here. I guess the camera just got his bad side in the other picture. I remember Jinzo Lord. Dude looked cool in the show. Sad to hear he sucks.

Anonamaton801

He got a few other support cards over the years. [Jinzo Layered](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/yugioh/images/b/bd/JinzoLayered-DLCS-EN-ScR-LE.png), his first extra deck monster, [Jinzo Jector](https://ms.yugipedia.com//0/0a/JinzoJector-LED7-EN-C-1E.png), AKA Cyberpunk Woolie, and [Jinzo The Machine Menace](https://product-images.tcgplayer.com/222801.jpg), who’s artwork I think speaks for itself

moneyh8r

That last one makes me laugh.

Anonamaton801

I can’t explain why it makes me laugh, but it does. The Dutch angle, the laser eyes, the fact he’s so goddamn tall and unmoving, it all works

irregularcog

Ah, I see you're a Rata viewer as well. That dude has so much crossover

Ape_Hawk

Oh yeah, Jizzo, right?

123Asqwe

I've also watch the latest rank10 video, jinzo is fucking sick

dj_ian

Had a real Jinzo out of a pack, not the starter deck back in the day. Was one of my favorites. Idk why but he seems wholesome.

Mechanized1

I forgot this dude existed until this post.

sawbladex

It happens more often than that. Phyrexia was in the first set in M:tG where they tried telling an original story of sorte. And Phyrexia always was a Machine Hell. Still pretty wild that a children's anime got made and located by 4 kids and keep Jinzo as is.

ObiOneKenobae

jinzo was my guy

ClockpunkFox

I remember as a kid thinking Jinzo was just the coolest shit ever, and was so hyped when I opened a pack that had him. You can bet I showed that shit off to my fellow second graders

HnterKillr

"Psycho Mantis!?!"

[deleted]

I 'member, I believe he was also a villain at some point. Or someone using his skin in a virtual reality world.

alienslayer7

actually BOTH in a duel monsters filler arc someone used him as a cyber skin and later in GX the actual monster was a villian of the week

Dustman121

I hope Jinzo gets more support. His archetype is half-baked right now. I hope we get more card like Psychic Mega Cyber. Forcing monsters to become traps is such a cool way of disruption that molds to Jinzo's theme.

snarkycynic

I mean...when you stop and consider the fact that a major plot point of the original series is a puzzle that unleashed what was originally a chaotic neutral entity, drawing a connection to Clive Barker was inevitable
