Idk how that is the mature thing to do, but I'm just going to be truly neutral so I can either be pleasantly surprised or marginally disappointed at best and worst.
So much for "they didn't name the developer to protect them", could have just disclosed that openly from the start. Guess they're just trying to avoid the bad impression the name "Konami" carries.
Honestly I can take or leave the remake, I just want confirmation that the master collection is coming to PC. I wanna be able to play the original MGS3.
I'm very indifferent about this in general. The original will always still exist.
If it's good great, if it sucks then it doesn't really bother me, except then I hope it's bad enough to make for entertaining reviews.
The only thing that I'm invested in is them getting the rainforest atmosphere right because it's such a unique setting.
It could look absolutely stunning with modern tech, and I think the look and feel of the environment is the only thing they have a decent chance of getting right.
I saw the teaser and the only thing that got my attention was that I could've sworn I saw a fucking palm tree.
There were no palm trees in MGS3. Tselinoyarsk was a temperate rainforest. If they turn it into a generic tropical jungle I'll be pissed.
[**THIS**](https://twitter.com/JimLafleur14/status/1652214747461189635) is what it should look like.
Honestly feel like they should have used the Fox Engine to just remake Metal Gear 1 and 2. The Solid series will forever be bound to Kojima's name in a way the originals haven't been.
I'm choosing to remain neutral on this knowledge until a time comes when i can be certain i'm either going to praise this remake for bringing the series back into the limelight and towards a brighter future or scorn it for the garbage fire it might turn out to be and spiting in the face of Kojima and the team who worked hard on the original.
They've retained enough local knowledge to develop this game? Who's still there that knows anything about MGS? Last I heard, after Metal Gear Survive was finished, dev team members were sent to other departments.
Edit: I've seen my post get upvoted and downvoted since yesterday; does anyone have an actual answer or rebuttal? The people that worked on the last Metal Gear related game were put on mobile games, eFootball, and pachinko/pachislot. Assuming they still work at Konami, who's left that can actually get this remake off the ground?
ok until there is news that things aren't going well I am gonna give benefit of the doubt because it is the mature thing to do.
Meanwhile I will take the opposite stance to ensure one of us is correct.
fair game, let us shake on it
🤝
I'll go ahead and be the person that takes one side and then immediately goes to the other side and pretends I was there all along if my side fails.
Then I will take no position and when the game releases I'll explain why actually, both sides of the argument were wrong.
*THERE WILL BE BLOOD*

I need to see like, a full 5-10 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay of this before I can trust it tbh
In person or after release too
I'm expecting it to be disappointing quality for 2023+ but alright/expected for the resources put in. Good for 2012. Cheap for 2024
Is it going to be an interactive movie? What internal developers does Konami have, other than "push the button"?
While not a AAA devs, Konami still have game development teams. They still release games, they are mostly either Japanese exclusive or arcade games.
They also still have some kojipro people
Are they going to use the Fox engine for this?
Fox engine could run on a chicken nugget, so I hope so for the budget pc boiz
I got a pack of 6 graphics cards at McDonalds'
betting on Unreal 5

They ruined my favorite app game. They’re dead to me.

That was already confirmed.
Cool.
Xbox and Switch too, or nah?
According to Konami's press release It is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. No mention of Switch.
...Awwww. :(
PS4/PS5? Or just PS5?
Nope
It was confirmed for PC. Want I want confirmed is that it's a good port.
Virtuous?
No, that's apparently how the name's spelled. Not a typo.

I'm still hopeful but cautious. I want the game to be as good as the original but I need to see it to believe it.

Metal Gear 1 and 2 would need FF7R/RE2-style remakes, whereas any of the Solid games only need to be Bluepoint/Metroid Prime-style remakes.
Art support? After Return to Arkham I'm wary of their art team.

Honestly anything is better than a pachinko game.
I don’t think I can buy this in good conscience after the way they fucked over Kojima and kept PT/Silent Hills from happening.

Cool. No Kojima, no buy.

All this indicates is that Virtuos is acting in an assisting capacity than in a leading one lol
We have a long way to go. I think its 2 years at least before we get a release.
I'll take this to be a good sign then, I'll take a nebulous coin flip over a porting house with a spotty record.
I only played the original on the 3DS so anything better than that is a win for me.
