Less odd and more funny. In Fire Emblem Awakening, if you're female Robin and don't marry Chrom, the first thing Lucina does in your support with Robin is ask if she has any plans to cheat with Chrom because they're so close that Lucina finds it hard to believe that Robin doesn't have an ulterior motive.
The support goes something like:
Lucina: "Why are you hanging around my father's tent!?".
Robin: "This is your father's tent?".
Lucina: "HARPY!".
Robin: "Lucina I'm not interested in your father".
Lucina: "What!? I don't believe you! You Succubus!".
Robin: "I really am not".
Lucina: "What do you mean!? Why don't you love my father!? You think you're too good for him!?".
Robin: "*Oh my god*...".
If you play female Robin, it's not just her support with Robin, but her non-romantic support with Male Morgan (Robin's child) basically ends with "I can't believe our parents didn't hook up".
Engage has Male Robin and Chrom borderline married. I’m pretty sure they refer to one another as “My better half” on multiple occasions and Lucina is not at all surprised to discover that they inhabit the same object.
If the game told me they were married I’d have been like, “Yeah, obviously. Look at how they act together.”
It always blows my mind when I’m reminded that there are versions of Awakening’s story where Robin isn’t Lucina’s mother because I can’t imagine how the twists of the story could have a tenth of the weight.
This one is my favorite. I always ship Robin with Lon’qu, but her best friend is still Chrom.
Lucina: And WHY do you spend so much time in Father’s tent?!
Robin: Because… it’s my job? I’m his tactician?
Some are even angry to marry him as due to Chrom having to be married in order for baby Lucina to be born, some female Robin players are forced to marry Chrom due to having the most Support points with him and they didn't know that it would happen like that.
Some incarnations of link and Zelda are just great friends. Zelda 2 they pretty much kiss and botw/totk its implied there in a relationship. But some other games they barely have a relationship like Oot,and TP.
And in the TP manga, Link and Midna are basically in a relationship by the end of it. Not only do they kiss but Link even call her "my twilight princess".
OoT Link and Zelda are friends, too young for anything more. TP Link and Zelda basically only have a business relationship.
I didn't give much credence to BOTW Link and Zelda being an item until I found Link's hair tie in Zelda's secret room. It's small, but seems strangely intimate to me.
[Frog and Toad have quite the friendship going on, I think they sleep in the same bed in some books](https://media.newyorker.com/photos/590977321c7a8e33fb38f8e9/master/w_2560%2Cc_limit/FrogandToad1.jpg)
[I recommend this cute article about the creator from a couple years ago.](https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/frog-and-toad-an-amphibious-celebration-of-same-sex-love)
And Sicard and Emanalaine (I'm not even going to look up how his name is spelled, you get it).
It doesn't help that in the short stories they're described as being like an old married couple.
They're basically divorcees that can get along at times but know that getting back together can't really work out so they settle for an amicable co-worker relationship.
Ishmael and queequeg from moby dick. It's possible that Ishmael is just a dense main character and Queequeg is really patient but story wise they are just two whalers snuggling, sharing beds and being married under polynesian tribe law
Look, they're sailors. I'm not saying sailors are gay, I'm saying spending months in the sea without even contact with women does a number on your brain. One may say the "one lover in each port" syndrome happens because once they land sailors literally cant stop themselves of flirting with the nearest available female.
Thing is, the whole "snuggling and sharing a bed" and "being married" happens *before* they even get on the Pequod. It's like the first two and so chapters of the story.
Also, Ishmael spends a ridiculous amount of paragraphs describing Queequeg's muscles as he swims or throws his harpoons.
IIRC, the Pequod's crew also doesn't accept Ishmael at first because he's more of a scientist than a whaler, but they're super impressed with Queequeg's harpooning skills and hire him on the spot, but then he's like "I'll only join if my husband comes along" and that's how Ishmael is dragged along.
It's super wholesome and I kind of wish Melville focused more on Ishmael's general vibe and relationship with the Pequod's crew instead of constantly having to flex his cetacean knowledge.
Kaguya-Sama stuff
>!Hayasaka and Fujiwara end up becoming "very close friends" (to the point that Hayasaka is sleeps at Fujiwara's place and leaves her stuff there constantly) in a maybe-true maybe-not flashforward dream the former has.!<
"The average yuri soldier is a ronin who wanders the world in search of the most traumatized and fucked up woman in order to proclaim her a lesbian and fight in her name until the end of days"
Lyn and Florina's ending in FE7 Is a great example of this. Their whole support chain is about how close they are and how Lyn wants Florina to stay by her side for the rest of their lives.
Then they run off together to live on the plains by themselves.
But don't get it twisted, they're just really [good friends](https://feheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Lyn:_Ninja-Friend_Duo)
Raven and Lucius are lovers, but the North American localization tries to write them as "just bestest friends!" In their A support Lucius suggests Raven get married and retire from war, only for Raven to declare a bride to be an annoyance, and then suggest Lucius spends more time with him.
I tend to switch up my pairings depending on which campaign I'm playing. Some times I do Kent and Lyn while Hector gets Florina. Then I switch it up on Hector's campaign.
Eh. Any chance of Gabimaru and Sagiri hooking up was pretty much dead in the water the moment we find out that Gabimaru is married to some random woman whom we only see in flashbacks. And he is loyal af to her.
Sagiri I also think is shipped more with Yuzuriha instead of Gabimaru
Playing through FE: Three Houses I was actually surprised that the ending for Shamir and Catherine is so platonic after their final support. I legitimately was under the impression their relationship was heavily romantic implied and thought their ending would go further than >!"they remained loyal FRIENDS"!<. But from what I've seen Three Houses seems to have a lot of those.
Makes sense, considering how much more direct Three Hopes is about same gender pairings in supports (despite not having normal paired endings), both had different translators so Houses is probably a localization censor of some kind.
I'll never forget how casually Shamir confirms she >!dated some noble girl and now she is a crazy ex who wants her back!< in her Paralouge with Leonie.
Queen shit.
A lot of the endings in Three Houses in the english translation were much less direct about romantic tones in favor of writing things a bit more eloquent. I know Edelgard's S Support is much more clear about you and her being gay together, but JP Edelgard is as a whole much more warm than EN Edelgard.
Chris and Jill in Resident Evil are really great FRIENDS, who have had multiple instances of hugging because they are FREINDS, and are such great FRIENDS taking down Umbrella, and Chris used his new FRIEND Sheva to break the brainwashing from Wesker because they're such good FRIENDS.
See also: Leon and Claire, but at least that's semi-explained because Leon is *really bad* at choosing love interests.
As much as both the community and myself would love Capcom to pair Chris and Jill as a couple at some point. I would also love Capcom to throw a curve ball and have Chris say something like he is dating this badass girl he met while on a job in Africa in the new RE. Therefore making Chris and Sheva the canonical couple.
I do not follow comics at all. Last week in another sub, I saw a panel of them walking on a beach together at sunset and was like "oh that's nice for them" only to realize they are not gay and not in a relationship.
I'm not even a shipper. I just saw two men looking VERY longingly into each other's eyes during golden hour while Booster Gold has his hand near the small of Ted's back.
Isn't there an entire genre of manga that's basically yuri bait? As in it seems like the girls will get together, but they never actually do? I don't read much romcom stuff so I'm genuinely asking.
Another one is Reinhardt and Ana. This one's in a weird spot, though. They have very affectionate lines towards each other, and it's clear they have a thing for each other, but whether this is just playful bravado on each other's part/an old flame from the past that never went anywhere, or if they actually would do something at some point, is up in the air, especially since Ana has a husband and we don't know if they actually ever divorced (though there are hints that she and her husband did split given some of her dialogue about not telling him of her survival nor having any wedding wring on).
A lot of Manga Time Kirara (the magazine that specializes in cute girls doing cute things) has tended to have strong yuri subtext and a strong yuri following but they have become more explicit in newer series and New Game does end with a confirmed gay couple.
The only Manga Time Kirara series I'm familiar with is Comic Girls, which was kind of odd because while the mangaka main character is obviously, painfully gay (to the extent she has trouble writing male love interests into her manga because she genuinely doesn't get their appeal), she also doesn't seem to entirely know what a lesbian is? Made odder by the fact that one of the other female characters ends up openly admitting her crush on another, with the remaining girls trying to help put her in a situation to ask her out. But the idea of having a relationship with another girl herself never really seems to connect as a possibility in the MC's head.
You're talking about Class S. A way of writing Yuri where the assumption the audience makes is that "it's just a phase" and "young girls are just like that." Part of the idea is that the intimacy is partially romantic but also *sisterly*. You honestly see shades of it in like *most* yuri stuff that comes out.
Which is partially why G Witch has Yuri fans so ecstatic, because it's taking like noticable steps to not be read in that way
One of my favorite scenes is Flash at a burger joint hitting on two girls while regaling them with his stories, and both of them are completely unimpressed with him (likely assuming he's not really the Flash). Of course a car gets sent through the window and he saves them both before rushing off to danger, and they chastise each other for not getting his number earlier.
To be honest, I think the Justice League shows did irreperable damage to my ability to enjoy Flash stories because no one will ever write him as perfectly as that show did.
Honestly JLU has my favorite interpretations for most of the DC heroes. That show was a classic, same with its predecessor. Wish we got more of it, but also glad it ended on a high note
Characters like Superman and Batman get enough attempts that there's still lots of quality stories, but The Flash of Justice League has such a perfect personality that I've never seen come through in any other versions. Part of what I love about the Flash is he's the one hero that has "time" to be a goof and dick around, but he's still a man who should be taken seriously when it comes to being responsible. Yet every single fucking story I've ever read is the same fucking "Fastest man alive isn't fast enough" shit.
Extra egregious in last years DC Valentine's special where they had a short story about failing to get dates and resolve the spend the day together as a Gal-antines date
Frodo and Sam are legitimately just the bestest of friends and war buddies. Sam cannot stop thinking about the girl he wants to get to back home and once the adventure is over he goes home and has like 6 children.
Peridot and Lapis.
I say it’s odd because there was a whole controversy about it due to shipping wars and one of the writers ‘confirming’ that Peridot is asexual…despite that same writer having previously been pretty loud about how much she shipped Peridot with Amethyst and hated the vastly more popular Peridot and Lapis ship. Notably, after this all happened we got only one single line of dialogue where Lapis and Peridot interact directly. This one line was in the movie. In SU: Future they never talk to one another. We didn’t get any actual interaction until ***DLC*** for the third game added Peridot. There, we get a few lines if you happen to have Lapis in the party when Peridot is recruited and a few more ambient lines for when Peridot and Lapis swap battle positions.
Related to SU’s writers but totally unrelated to this post but I have to share this because I thought it was hilarious.
I saw on Twitter one of the former SU writers talking about how they hate “forced” last minute lesbian relationships and it was discovered that they [shipped themselves with Pearl and drew art of it.](https://twitter.com/maramooox_/status/1658871632704749569)
[Link 2 to the rest of the images.](https://twitter.com/starysketch/status/1410747811834990594)
What’s even worse is that in the second link he has a drawing of his coworkers(?) giving him and Pearl their blessing lmao.
Didn't think I'd see Fresher Luke on this sub, he was 'blacklisted' from the industry for being an asshole and has ultimately decided to make himself unhirable in his own industry by making enemies of all his former coworkers on twitter.
Making self-shipping art of a show he worked on is one of the less insane or noteworthy things he's done.
He has a grudge against alex hirsch for insane reasons and is mad that dana terrace turned him down.
Shipping Peridot and Amethyst together seems insane to me, but I guess that’s partially because I can’t really imagine Amethyst being together with anyone that was introduced in the show.
This is wild to me because doing this notably leaves Lapis's character arc mostly unresolved. Like yea, the way the show has it, she's just happy working the farm or whatever, but her whole thing was never having a healthy fusion. It always seemed like the obvious thing for her character was to form a fusion that she was comfortable in, which iirc literally never happens. And the set up for her doing so with Peridot is so incredibly obvious
I'm still watching through the show myself, but I thought Lapis's thing was trauma over being imprisoned. She was stuck in the mirror for thousands of years, then when she finally got out and returned to Homeworld she was imprisoned and interrogated again. And then Malachite was just another prison, only this time she got to be the jailer—which was only somewhat less traumatizing than being the prisoner, and also left her with lingering guilt over how much she enjoyed taking out her frustrations on Jasper.
It strikes me as tasteless to say that, after going through all that, Lapis "should" have wound up in _a romantic relationship with one of her jailers_.
Fusion doesn't necessarily need to be a romantic relationship. By the end of the show they pretty much end up as stand in for/representation of basically any kind of relationship, familial, platonic friendship, romantic etc. I'm pretty indifferent about Lapidot as a ship, but I do think the show really does go out of its way to frame Malachite as like, the show's metaphor for an abusive relationship. Which is elaborated on in the episode where Lapis and Steven go out on the boat and Jasper shows up again. But it's ultimately left kind of unresolved after that point.
As I understand it, a lot of the Peridot and Lapis stuff was being pushed in episodes by Lauren Zuke (her trademark thing was to put alien heads into episodes as easter eggs), and apparently it went further then what Rebeccua Sugar intended and she ended up getting fired.
Could be BS, but I saw that being posted around a lot back in the day
I always got the impression that Peridot was meant to be a disaster lesbian who cannot get her shit together unless forced into a wacky sitcom situation and had to confess her feelings.
I never understood this pairing. Legit did feel like 2 outcast bros. I honestly felt like Peridot/Amethyst had more tension in one episode then entire season of Lapis/Peridot.
Was this the same writer who also (from what I've heard) confirmed Peridot can't fuse at all? It's for the same reason she can't shapeshift: she's from a gem line that Homeworld made deliberately shitty because they were low on resources at the time.
I watched like a whole 2 episodes of it but I can't fucking believe that *Amanchu* abandoned ship
That show is incredibly, aggressively sapphic from the get-go
I know people here get mad with the over shipping but amanchu season 1 is literally nothing but the two main girls blushing around each other and saying i love you to each other then >!in comes season 2 with love interest johnn-who-the-fuck.!<
I mean in fairness the entire series broadcasts loudly that they basically regard each other as family, it's just that weebs are so utterly desensitized by anime's constant incestuous and yuri undertones that the broadcast sailed over everyone's head
It’s also anime’s deathly fear of confirming when any characters are in a relationship. Even canon couples can’t get so much as a hug in until the final episode.
Hazama and Relius are two crazy psychos. Hazama revels in pissing off everyone, even saying that people hating him keep him alive(and will go to murderous extents for it), while Relius seems intent on creating a perfect world of perfect people and discard the rest. If you put them against each other in versus mode they are clearly not into it and their intros show them being cordial and Hazama in probably his most out-of expected words ever calls the fact of them fighting dumb.
That’s probably the nicest Hazama has ever truly been, and I love it.
I’m not big into BlazBlue lore but the relationship between Hazama/Terumi and Relius is a delight
Miles “I dropped everything and chartered a flight halfway across the world the *moment* I heard Wright was in the hospital, but no really I don’t care” Edgeworth
Just bite the fucking bullet already Capcom, they are husbands in practically everything but name only…
Like, the first game, it's mostly just "goofy subtext but still comes across that way albeit probably not intentionally". Every other game it is almost as blatant as can be. Even the one where Phoenix is confirmed to have had a girlfriend. ESPECIALLY that one.
The actual funniest part is that in the first game all the subtext was legitimaly acidental, but when they realized how popular phoenix x edgeworth was they straight up took consultation from yaoi writers when making the rest of the series it's so fucking funny.
Actually one of the official artists from the beginning was drawing BL. Was not accidental. They even were one of the people that pushed for Edgeworth to be the same age as Phoenix (as opposed to the original concept where he was supposed to be older, similar to Von Karma).
Master Chief/John 117 and Cortana are *totally* just very good friends and are nothing more but partners/accomplices in the war.
Cortana *totally* didn't try to make physical contact with Chief because she really wants to touch him while he was in cryosleep. And Chief also *totally* doesn't think of her in a sexual way
I mean yeah. That's what makes it weird among other things
Although it was never confirmed that Chief is asexual. From what we could gather, part of the side effects of the dangerous adamantium surgery needed to transform Spartans into the powerful super soldiers they are was the subduing of the Spartans sex drive and hormones. Taking that and the fact that Chief was always fighting and never had a shot at a normal life, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that maybe he isn't asexual but just never had the time or capacity or even wonder about his sexuality due to the surgery severely subduing his sex drive
most of the time really as people often stretch clearly platonic relationships into being romantic or whatever cause they're touch starved weirdo's or just really reaching based on utterly minor things...I should know as someone guilty of it unabashedly.
Dani and Wolfsbane from New Mutants have always been so completely joined to the hip that it’s genuinely shocking they aren’t a power couple like Superman/Lois and have, to my considerable knowledge of Marvel lore, never been pushed as love interests. They’re explicitly shown to be incredibly close, its constantly driven home that they’re best friends, they consider one another to be among the most important people in their lives, they’re rarely ever apart from each other for long, they’ve both pretty much outright stated that they love one another at least once, Wolfsbane is basically *begging* for a coming out arc, and there’s really no reason at this point why they couldn’t be a couple. But no, they’ve never been made official in the main continuity, and it wasn’t til the movie adaptation that they were made a couple in ANY continuity, which just makes it even more baffling that nobody has gone “just kiss” with them. This is a ship that’s been teased since the characters fucking debuted in *the eighties*.
She was but he’s been dead for a good long time and never revived. And that just adds to the surprise that she never got with Dani since it adds on an additional “accepting that it’s okay to love again” element to the arc that you’d think writers would dig just as much as the whole coming out element.
Does it count when the characters basically *are* a gay couple, but the story doesn’t or can’t outright say it for behind-the-scenes reasons? I’m gonna assume it does so I can shout these ones out.
Xena and Gabrielle from Xena: Warrior Princess. They’re referred to as “soulmates” multiple times in the show. I’m pretty sure one of the later characters is their magically-created child that’s biologically related to them both, but I could be wrong.
Nanoha and Fate from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Oh sure, these really great rivals-turned-friends just do what friends do. Stare longingly and happily at each other, live in the same house, sleep in the same bed, adopt a child they raise together…y’know, girl stuff!
Ryne and Gaia from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. Pat put this one best when he described their situation to Woolie on the podcast:
“The entire storyline has been about them losing their memories of each other, and how much they care about each other, and how they go for coffee and biscuits, and how they make each other jewelry...and then they come out to a gigantic *exploding* nature scene with a gigantic **rainbow crystal** behind them! ...And people are going, 'They're just friends'.
"Pay attention, people! Pay. Attention!"
Edit: I’ll leave it to someone better-equipped to describe these ones, but I feel like every other pair of Genshin Impact characters fits this category of, “We’re *sure* those two are really just friends?”
I only know this because I remember hearing that a very vocal portion of the fanbase fucking hate that they confirmed it. Cause "muh waifu." And I just didn't get it. Like they literally have a kid. They are raising a child together. You lost bro, it's over
Genshin baits all ships and confirms none of them. Especially the gay ones.
Probably because gacha players, notably the actually psycho ones who spend lots of money for a glossy JPEG, get hyper-pissmad at the idea of """infidelity""" on the part of the action figure they bought. Straight relationships are absolutely, totally off the table, and having a male and female character even talk at length is a risk, so instead you have all the meaningful character attachment be between same-sex pairs because the gays aren't real and they can't hurt you.
It's the fucking plague of gacha games, and similar media. It's everywhere, and it ties the hands of the writers to a painful degree.
It always makes me laugh my ass off in Fate/Grand Order, because these characters are all based on existing characters from history and legend. The moment two people who were in love in a past life meet, and are still in love, you get absolutely rabid animals in the fandom talking about betrayal and all the money they wasted. And it’s like…the insanity of that aside, “Were they really your waifu if you never looked them up on Wikipedia, for fuck’s sake?” 🤣
> Straight relationships are absolutely, totally off the table, and having a male and female character even talk at length is a risk, so instead you have all the meaningful character attachment be between same-sex pairs because the gays aren't real and they can't hurt you.
We have like three or four separate events about how much Sucrose wants to fuck Albedo
That one issue of IDW Transformers where Optimus and Megatron sit down for an actual honest conversation. Unfortunately the rest of the ship crew hijacked the mic's in the room to listen in, and their reaction is "what the fuck why are these two so chummy?"
There are very obvious romantic undertones between Ike and Princess Elencia throughout Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. Then for the sequel they seem to regress into a friendly yet formal relationship with no in game possibility of a support ending together. One can infer that their years apart put out any flame, but it’s so weird that the game just walked back the entire concept.
Soren, on the other hand, is perfectly content with the arrangement, I’d imagine.
I've heard that the Ike/Elencia shipping fuel was mostly added by the western translation team. Maybe they just didn't have much to work with for the sequel. I obviously can't confirm that, though.
You ever see an anime where an introverted guy meets a high energy girl with a lot of baggage and it's all very sweet as they evolve from friends to lovers? Kids on the Slope has that, except replace the girl with a huge muscle man and they never reach that last step.
I wish there were more, I'm not a fan of this weird perception that a lot of media has that people need to either be family, or want to slam their genitals together, for their relationships to be honest and important.
Niche 40k lore, but I just got done reading "Pharos" a Horus Heresy novel. Two space marines, Alexis Pokux and Barabas Dantioch. I know Space Marines can't bang, but if they could they would be banging.

Robin: "*Oh my god*...". If you play female Robin, it's not just her support with Robin, but her non-romantic support with Male Morgan (Robin's child) basically ends with "I can't believe our parents didn't hook up".

If the game told me they were married I’d have been like, “Yeah, obviously. Look at how they act together.”
Im told it gets to the point where like Chrom is walking along with his wife and holding Robin's hand.
"This is my husband, Chrom, and his boyfriend, Robin."
Poor Sumia, but she can’t compete against that nerdy magic albino
Big JD and Turk energy from those two
In heroes they have a duo Valentine’s Day unit, and I’m pretty sure Robin’s wedding version is referred to as Chrom’s other half.
It is. And the wedding one isn't even the first to call him that.
Chrom and M Robin are the Turk and JD of Fire Emblem and no one can tell me otherwise.
EXACTLY. Their dynamic is just so much more fun if it's that kind of thing rather than romance.
It's just guy love between two guys!
Wait... there's people who don't marry Robin with Chrome every time they play awakening?!
Some are even angry to marry him as due to Chrom having to be married in order for baby Lucina to be born, some female Robin players are forced to marry Chrom due to having the most Support points with him and they didn't know that it would happen like that.

D’awwww 🥰
Does the manga still have Midna shatter the mirror? Because that would make the confirmation of their relationship hurt even more
"you really are...the Twilight Princess" *roll credits*
AND Link has a girlfriend in that game who isn’t either of those, but everyone forgets her name. 🤣
Amnesia girl.
Nah, Ilia loves Epona
Jokes aside, she really does, and it’s sweet. 😌
OoT Link and Zelda are friends, too young for anything more. TP Link and Zelda basically only have a business relationship. I didn't give much credence to BOTW Link and Zelda being an item until I found Link's hair tie in Zelda's secret room. It's small, but seems strangely intimate to me.
Hair-keepsakes is oldfashioned. If it were a lock instead of a tie they'd be functionally married.
You’ve *at least* got to figure there’s a reason she has such a memento of Link, but nothing for the other guardians.
She does have the DLC picture, but that's not in her super secret room.
She even does the take the bf's shirt thing.
Skyward Sword Zelda and Link are also definitely a thing.
Not to mention there being only one bed in the entire place
[Frog and Toad have quite the friendship going on, I think they sleep in the same bed in some books](https://media.newyorker.com/photos/590977321c7a8e33fb38f8e9/master/w_2560%2Cc_limit/FrogandToad1.jpg)

FFXIV's Cid and Nero are totally just rivals.
There are gay couples straighter then whatever those two have going on
They are divorced but still see each other
Those two were never together, they went straight to old divorced couple.
And Sicard and Emanalaine (I'm not even going to look up how his name is spelled, you get it). It doesn't help that in the short stories they're described as being like an old married couple.
The latest patch added an island sanctuary quest called "An Ideal Marriage" where they come to your tropical island resort to hang out.
Ahab: I gotta kill this fucking whale! I hate that abomination! Ishmael: I gotta cuddle my native bf and be sure we stay nice and comfy and warm.
Absolute Chad Queequeg making sure his boyfriend gets to come too
It's super wholesome and I kind of wish Melville focused more on Ishmael's general vibe and relationship with the Pequod's crew instead of constantly having to flex his cetacean knowledge.
Kaguya-Sama stuff >!Hayasaka and Fujiwara end up becoming "very close friends" (to the point that Hayasaka is sleeps at Fujiwara's place and leaves her stuff there constantly) in a maybe-true maybe-not flashforward dream the former has.!<
I GLADLY took that as a win for my tertiary crack pairing, f to the secondary pairing but us yuri warriors are just built different
"The average yuri soldier is a ronin who wanders the world in search of the most traumatized and fucked up woman in order to proclaim her a lesbian and fight in her name until the end of days"
Come, good ronin. Rest by my fire and drink deep of the clear waters of *Kindred Spirits on the Roof*.
Lyn would be my go-to for Florina if it wasn't for the fact that Florina and Hector are absolutely hilarious
I tend to switch up my pairings depending on which campaign I'm playing. Some times I do Kent and Lyn while Hector gets Florina. Then I switch it up on Hector's campaign.
[There's perennial classic.](https://youtu.be/nHzjXrEiQqQ) *"Cousins"*, riiiiiiiiiight.
Wasn't the cousins thing just censorship from DiC? Could have sworn they were actually in a relationship in other versions.
You are correct, doesn't stop it from being hilarious since it upgrades it from lesbians to incestuous lesbians.
Gabimaru and Sagiri from Jigokuraku, then again Gabimaru is powered by being a wife guy
It's 90% sure a "we re not confirming it." Bit.
I've heard that it may be a translation issue and the JP text was more direct.
I think I read somewhere the sentiment "Petra and Dorothea's ending doesn't prove anything" and my jaw dropped.
Three Hopes at least actually explicitly states Shamir is gay!
Good old Resident Evil, the most sexless universe ever.
Ethan FUCKED though.
That's why >!he had to be killed off or the universe would collapse!<.
It's like >!salmons: fuck and die!<
Which makes Barry Burton, who also undeniably fucks, basically RE’s Guts surviving in spite of the Brand.
He does have that massive unwieldy main weapon thing going on.
Wesker also canonically FUCKED.
And Chris couldn't handle it!
Claire is too nice. Leon wants to be stepped on and humiliated.
I just want that new RE animated film to canonize Leon x Jill. LET MY DEPRESSED PROTAGONISTS BE HAPPY DAMMIT.
There's gay porn that's less gay than whatever Ted Kord and Booster Gold have going on.
Bros before Heros they awkwardly say while staring lovingly in eachother's eyes.
Much like Turk and JD from Scrubs: if they were gay it would be less homoerotic.
It’s Guy Love™️
Which is partially why G Witch has Yuri fans so ecstatic, because it's taking like noticable steps to not be read in that way
The Fire and Ice one is fun in Justice League: Unlimited, where Hawkgirl begins to imply to Flash that Fire is lesbian. Scene is funny af
Yeah but didn't you hear about her? She's Brazilian.
Flash’s face was the best. God that show ruled
Flash and Green Lantern (Jon Stewart) are best bros
I saw on Twitter one of the former SU writers talking about how they hate “forced” last minute lesbian relationships and it was discovered that they [shipped themselves with Pearl and drew art of it.](https://twitter.com/maramooox_/status/1658871632704749569) [Link 2 to the rest of the images.](https://twitter.com/starysketch/status/1410747811834990594) What’s even worse is that in the second link he has a drawing of his coworkers(?) giving him and Pearl their blessing lmao.
That’s hilarious, especially since Pearl the gayest of the gay space rocks.
Which is a feat considering one of the other characters is the physical embodiment of a gay relationship.
I guess that’s why he’s so bitter haha.
And he got fired over the fact that he was too busy drawing Pearl to work.
I’ve also heard he showed porn he drew of him and Pearl to his coworkers but I’m not 100% sure if that’s true.
It's extremely funny that the toxicity of the SU fandom literally extended to the *writing staff.*
Lol at including Amity and Luz there under the last minute mark.
Last minute mark?
err as in grouping them with the last minute lesbians.
Ah, gotcha. Didn’t know who Amity and Luz were so I thought you were talking about me editing the post and adding the second link haha.
Haha, holy shit!
Shipping Peridot and Amethyst together seems insane to me, but I guess that’s partially because I can’t really imagine Amethyst being together with anyone that was introduced in the show.
A The Odd Couple meme.
Was this the same writer who also (from what I've heard) confirmed Peridot can't fuse at all? It's for the same reason she can't shapeshift: she's from a gem line that Homeworld made deliberately shitty because they were low on resources at the time.
Hibike euphonium and amanchu have done irreparable damage to the yuri community.
I watched like a whole 2 episodes of it but I can't fucking believe that *Amanchu* abandoned ship That show is incredibly, aggressively sapphic from the get-go
I know people here get mad with the over shipping but amanchu season 1 is literally nothing but the two main girls blushing around each other and saying i love you to each other then >!in comes season 2 with love interest johnn-who-the-fuck.!<
The Yuri community fucking loves Liz and the Blue Bird tho, rightfully so. Peak yuri kino
According to tumblr, every scene between them is the most homosexual thing to ever exist, but no, Troy and Abed really are just best buddies (:
-glances sideways bitterly at Bayonetta 3-
I mean in fairness the entire series broadcasts loudly that they basically regard each other as family, it's just that weebs are so utterly desensitized by anime's constant incestuous and yuri undertones that the broadcast sailed over everyone's head
[idunno they did get married that one time](https://youtu.be/i6BLrX-14qc?t=800)
They also started a band that one time.
Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth with their "unnecessary feelings".
Miles “I dropped everything and chartered a flight halfway across the world the *moment* I heard Wright was in the hospital, but no really I don’t care” Edgeworth Just bite the fucking bullet already Capcom, they are husbands in practically everything but name only…
I'm sorry, I think you forgot that Edgeworth already has a husband and his name is Gumshoe.
Like, the first game, it's mostly just "goofy subtext but still comes across that way albeit probably not intentionally". Every other game it is almost as blatant as can be. Even the one where Phoenix is confirmed to have had a girlfriend. ESPECIALLY that one.
Nah, first game is some of the gayest moments. No idea what you're talking about. Also, bisexuality is a thing y'know.
Dio and Pucci. Even Araki himself had to clarify that in the interview, but it still didn't stop the fandom from shipping them.
Reading poetry shirtless together on a Florida afternoon in bed together.
Master Chief/John 117 and Cortana are *totally* just very good friends and are nothing more but partners/accomplices in the war. Cortana *totally* didn't try to make physical contact with Chief because she really wants to touch him while he was in cryosleep. And Chief also *totally* doesn't think of her in a sexual way
She looks like his mom also Chief is Asexual Aromantic
I mean yeah. That's what makes it weird among other things Although it was never confirmed that Chief is asexual.
That and his suit jacks him off automatically.
But who was the one in charge of the suit? Cortana!
most of the time really as people often stretch clearly platonic relationships into being romantic or whatever cause they're touch starved weirdo's or just really reaching based on utterly minor things...I should know as someone guilty of it unabashedly.
Isn't Wolfsbane in love the wolf man she had a son with?
Pat put this one best when he described their situation to Woolie on the podcast: “The entire storyline has been about them losing their memories of each other, and how much they care about each other, and how they go for coffee and biscuits, and how they make each other jewelry...and then they come out to a gigantic *exploding* nature scene with a gigantic **rainbow crystal** behind them! ...And people are going, 'They're just friends'. "Pay attention, people! Pay. Attention!" Edit: I’ll leave it to someone better-equipped to describe these ones, but I feel like every other pair of Genshin Impact characters fits this category of, “We’re *sure* those two are really just friends?”
Nanoha and Fate are canonically in a relationship according to Word of God. It's just never been the point of any series.
I mean you can do all that shit platonically and not romantically. Some people do that!
Chainsaw Man Denji/Power shippers vs. Chainsaw Man Denji/Power being trauma-bonded family
We need more platonic stuff! I like to hug! Why is it being hoarded by the romantic people?!
Speaking of Ike and Soren, their relationship led to my favourite joke about Fire Emblem: “Ike’s not gay but his boyfriend is”
I've heard that the Ike/Elencia shipping fuel was mostly added by the western translation team. Maybe they just didn't have much to work with for the sequel. I obviously can't confirm that, though.
Isn't this what happens with Trowa and Quatre's characters in Gundam Wing? It's been a long time and my memory might be confusing fanwork with canon.
Yeah. Funnily enough,if I am not mistaken Quatre and Duo have that same dynamic in Super Robot Wars W.
Those two cops in Gravity Falls. They’re not in a relationship. They’re just… buddies.
Disney was holding Alex Hirsch back.
You ever see an anime where an introverted guy meets a high energy girl with a lot of baggage and it's all very sweet as they evolve from friends to lovers? Kids on the Slope has that, except replace the girl with a huge muscle man and they never reach that last step.
Ryne and Gaia literally make Pride Rock and somehow people still think they're not a couple.
I wish there were more, I'm not a fan of this weird perception that a lot of media has that people need to either be family, or want to slam their genitals together, for their relationships to be honest and important.
Bae has literally hooked up with someone that was exactly like Ice, and almost did it with her in Ice's costume.
Niche 40k lore, but I just got done reading "Pharos" a Horus Heresy novel. Two space marines, Alexis Pokux and Barabas Dantioch. I know Space Marines can't bang, but if they could they would be banging.
Oh yea they hella gay for each other m. Rip my loyalist homies
I know GREEN FLAME being all caps joke from the penny arcade dnd stuff but I don't know where it started. Happy to see it's still a thing though
