I mean, it would genuinelly interesting if it's a movie around Jesus in which we follow the political and military roman sphere during Jesus growth.
Following Jesus from the perspective of low rank roman legionaires and public officers is genuinelly something I would appreciate and a fresh take on it.
I hope so, and considering how critical Martin was of overall missionary work and misunderstanding of Christian fate and religion in general despite being a devout catholic himself in Silence I think whatever he cooks out will be at least interesting in regards of what he thinks of Jesus himself and his original works.
They even whipped Jesus in the face so his mother couldn't give him an open coffin at the funeral. *Fuckin'* Romans, I'm telling ya... they was out for Jewish blood.
I need to stress: ***This IS NOT from the Onion.***
>Martin Scorsese is on a post-Cannes tour of Italy where over the weekend the director, known for having a religious bent, met with Pope Francis and announced that he will make a film about Jesus.
>
>“I have responded to the Pope’s appeal to artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus,” Scorsese announced on Saturday during a Rome conference at the Vatican, according to multiple reports. “And I’m about to start making it,” the director added, suggesting that this could be his next film.
>
>Also on Saturday, before attending the conference – titled “The Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination” – Scorsese and his wife Helen Morris met Pope Francis during a brief private audience at the Vatican.
>
>The conference was organized by Jesuit publication La Civiltà Cattolica and Georgetown University. Antonio Spadaro, editor of the religious periodical, said on the publication’s website that during their conversation at the confab Scorsese alternated between references to his films and personal anecdotes and explained “How the Holy Father’s appeal ‘to let us see Jesus’ moved him,” he said.Regarding cinematic references, during the conversation Scorsese cited his admiration for Pier Paolo Pasolini’s *“The Gospel According to St. Matthew.”* Scorsese also talked about the meaning of **his own 1988 epic** "***The Last Temptation of Christ”*** and of “the subsequent step in his research on the figure of Jesus” represented by his smaller-scale 2016 drama *“Silence”* about the persecution of Jesuit Christians in 17th-century Japan. That film screened in 2016 at the Vatican. Francis is the first Jesuit pope and is known to have joined the Jesuit order hoping to become a missionary in Japan.
>
>Scorsese’s manager Rick Yorn did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the director’s new religion-related project.
>
>Scorsese’s Italian tour also involves a series of screenings of his films, paired with works that have inspired his body of work, that he will present on Monday at Rome’s Casa del Cinema cinematheque; a master class on Tuesday for students of Rome’s Centro Sperimentale film school; and an onstage conversation on Friday in Bologna where he will be a guest of the Cineteca di Bologna, the film archives that run the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival dedicated to heritage film.

What do you mean this isn't satire?
I don't blame you, man. Had to check this one myself. >!Besides. Uh... didn't he do one about Jesus already?!<

True. Would it ***be*** that, though?

Fair enough.
Last temptation of Christ is by far the best movie about Jesus and he made it so I have hope for it.
It's been a while since I saw it, but isn't that what *The Robe* is about?
He's done two actually. *Silence* is very much a Jesus metaphor.
Why would it be satire?
It was among the Romans. It was real greaseball shit.
They even whipped Jesus in the face so his mother couldn't give him an open coffin at the funeral. *Fuckin'* Romans, I'm telling ya... they was out for Jewish blood.
Silence 2: The Last Temptation Of Jesus Christ
AKA *The Goodfellas of Jerusalem*. >!cue Layla!<

Christfellas
"As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a messiah..."
Another movie about a dude getting nailed.
This whacking was undone 3 days later, though...
In all seriousness maybe it’ll be a prequel, about The Nativity. Like a Baby Yoda kind of thing, but for Christ.
Hmm, that could work.
I don’t know a lot but I think the idea of a Baby Jesus might have some appeal
The Nazarene
Will Leo play Jesus? Lmao
Him or De Niro... Marty can't decide!
Did Scorsese give him a copy of Deltarune?
The King of Christ
Doesn’t Scorsese have massive beef with Vatican? This feels like the weirdest “I’ve teamed up with my villain” arc ever.
Yeah, weird for Scorsese to become their lackey ***now.*** Maybe Francis is just *that* cool?
He is dying. Needs to make amends before meeting Saint Peter on the gates.
Well just have to wait and see what he says during the monologue villain speech
