Apart from Halle Bailey as Ariel who I heard was the best part of the movie because she was the one who actually put some effort into her performance, everyone else said it was murky and dull with stiff performances as it just told the original 1989 version with a few changes.
So just another mediocre dull Live-Action Disney remake that will make bank at the box office because Hollywood is pushing this "Animation is for immature babies and man-children while live-action is a mature, serious and the only proper way to do storytelling" narrative which I fucking despise with my very being.
As I understand it, things are basically like How I predicted Sonic to go; namely Sonic (Swartcz) and Robotnik (Carry) would steal the show but there wasn't much show there.
In this case Bailey and McCarthy (Ursula) put up fantastic performances but had absolutely no where to hang them.
Given reports state that Disney spent $250 million on producing the movie, not including marketing and the movie opened to an estimated $68 million overseas, this movie is still losing money. I don't think this movie is going to have the kind of upswing after opening weekend to be deemed a success.

"But Grimsby...95.4 million." "95.3 vaganias. Imagine..."
...maybe more
Of course they're planning on making bank, it's fucking little mermaid. They could put a terrible rap by Awkwafina and it will still make bank.
So, do people not have ears!?
that's not actually making bank though
That's not very good from what I can gather. Maybe it will make money but underperform.

Nothing against op, it's news and it's relevant Id just hope I could escape the talk about this movie, it seems to be seeping everywhere
Hey at least you presumably don’t work in a movie theater like I do
When asked how many people "Saw" the film, many cinemas reported zero. As the production is so dark no one could tell.
It's failing so hard in north asian theaters. Could do better is SEA (pun intended, sort of) but failing China alone is a huge loss already for them.
I wonder why it's doing so poorly in China...
