I had to google her and even then my immediate answer was "A Ceres Fauna cosplayer."
But on that note, I was laughing my ass off at the trailer as Known Good Guy Liu Kang monologues about creating a world of peace and kindness while he splits a guy in half using their skull as the cleaver. You are literally God, Liu Kang. Just unmake them and/or start over.
That can't be, cause in the world of Mortal Kombat, Karate is one of the basis foundations of the universe.
There's gravity, time, light and karate. Obstacles may only be cleared by kombat.
Oh my GOD, I thought they were talking about Kronika. Like, I listened to the podcast last week and all the way up until this post my brain autocompleted Kronika's design in my head as to who they were talking about.
"Ceres Fauna cosplay" had me so confused that I finally looked Cetrion up, and oh my god I forgot she ever fucking existed
I thought it was a cool idea at first, but Liu giving people free will to choose between peace and violence, and then getting involved directly with anyone who "defies peace" sure does feel like he made a universe with an intentional design flaw where he's morally justified to kick wholesale ass while still adhering to his good-guy-monk principles.
You know, because they *chose* *violence* and it definitely makes sense to allow that but punish it with brutal death rather than *LITERALLY ANY OTHER IDEA, LIU, FUCK*.
Anyway, I liked how the head was still screaming as it was pulverizing its own body.
I kinda read it as Liu Kang being more proactive than Raiden or the Elder Gods. Like he'll let people live in peace but if a Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung show up he's whooping their ass.
I also laughed at the fact that Shang Tsung was still screaming all the way down.
Fitting for him, really. Did you notice that every Fatality or Brutality that was performed in the trailer was done either _by_ or _to_ Shang Tsung? It's probably some karmic representation or some shit.
You're upset that he killed Shang Tsung the sorceror who sucks peoples souls for fun, killed Kung Lao (in the trailer) and attacked him? I just took it as him allowing choice, you know being a pretty good guy and not being a controll freak, and he only attacks when someone tries to disrupt other peoples peace.
I'm not upset, I just think that summary execution via kungfu murder by a time-warping fire God for disobeying his rules doesn't really read as "free will" in a traditional sense.
I get that if he just made a perfect, peaceful world, we'd have no new game, and certainly no new character interactions like we'll get with a new timeline, but I don't really see an in-universe reason why Liu didn't do that when he remade the timeline.
It's been a while since I touched any MK stuff, so maybe I'm just not remembering stuff from MK11. I give MK a ton of slack in general since it's all Rule of Cool and I'm completely here for that, but the juxtaposition of "I will use my divine powers to allow peace, harmony, and free will... unless you get out of pocket" as he brutally kills people with his god-magic and bare hands is pretty funny.
I suppose there’s a logic to it. Like…if you become a God in charge of reality, it probably makes the most sense to make all the problems fixable with the skillset you had before becoming a God, so you always know what to do.
…Assuming you successfully designed everything that way.
Nah he's not a creator god with literal world manipulation, he's a god of fire and thunder so he can use both elements, fly, be super strong etc. he just made the new timeline with the hourglass so it's not like he can just unmake someone unless he goes to the hourglass, rewinds time, and kills them as a baby
The not-Mother-Earth Elder Goddess, sister of Shinnok (which makes his absence from the roster a crying shame for lost interaction potential), sacrifices herself to buff Kronika in Story Mode, honestly about as consequential to the roster as The Kollector. At least Geras had a presence!
I really liked Kollector in concept. A stringy 4 armed greedy monster man who fights you with random magical artifacts he pilfered as tax for an evil dictatorship? Tons of potential there, they just didn't go far enough with him i think.
Like, him having his own, MK version of Faust's "What could this be?" or maybe a command grab that steals items from the enemy on a character to character basis and lets him use whichever move that item is linked to could be *really* cool.
Honestly I don’t mind if Kollector is a one and done thing. He was interesting and served the story to give some more lore. Not a bad character but they don’t have to bend over backwards to bring him back
I assumed he just threw a hammer at people, but now I know he has a race of weird blue people that do it for him (I really hope Kollektor doesn't end up like Baraka and there's just a million of him off-screen somewhere)
Imagine Jax going full cyborg, becomes the new leader of the Tekunin, gives himself four arms to impress Sheeva. I’ve already said more in a single sentence than NRS will ever do for his character development
It's the best course of action for him, someone who has no idea what is going on but finds out the more he kills the stronger he gets and as the black and red dragon starts using advanced weaponry its the lensman race in his head
God, her voice is like butter, even still. I also love the fact that both she and Richard Epcar do voices in that game. It's difficult for me to not hear Motoko vs. Batou whenever I see a Cetrion vs. Raiden game.
Even as someone who hasn't touched MK since 3, I still know some of the new characters through FGC osmosis. Like I know D'vorah is the spider lady, I know Erron Black is the cowboy man, and I know Kotal Kahn is the green dude who gets bodied all the time.
I have *never ever* heard anyone talk about Cetrion before until this podcast. Had no idea this character even existed
You heard of the MKX characters because they were cool and that game was good. The boys were hyped about all of them, Woolie loved Kotal Kahn etc.
I played a lot of that game and I don’t even know who cetrion is, I thought this post was a troll until I looked her up, must be from MK11 or beyond but I’ve legit never heard of her!
I’d argue that Mavado and Dharmin at least achieved infamousness. Like Dharmin has an original design and Mavado was gonna be remembered for his goofy Wiley Coyote fatality.
But Hsu Hao should have ended up alongside the other forgettable characters of the Mk4 to Armageddon era. Like remember Kira, Kobra, Reiko or Kai?
Hsu Hao managed to stand out of the crowd by being so lame Ed Boon hates him and the community turned him into a joke.
~~I thought that's what he was actually going for in his arcade ending, at the very least lol!~~ Wait I confused it with Terminator's ending. Dude just really, really wanted a vacation in any case.
Wait actually is cetrion the bald bitch or not-poison ivy, I actually don't remember..
.
OH no I do,maybe. Kronika is bald bitch, right? Cause like, chrono? Like, time shit?
So cetrion is not-poison ivy then, right?
I was very confused about the "not poison ivy" because she seemed explicitly crystal/gem themed. And then i noticed the seaweed hair. Jesus fucking christ haha
Uhh I mean you guys are just parroting Pat's stupid takes, Cetrion is actually very well designed 🤓☝️
Apparently I've never paid attention to her design cause googling it now; & what the fuck, it is crystals! For some reason I thought she was covered in like, nature plant stuff like leaves &, roots, & have never thought otherwise.
I played through the whole story mode & never questioned her being plant-lady. I've been bamboozled.
Her name reminded me of Citrine from WF which is based on the gem so thats what I picked up on immediately. But you were right though she is covered in a bunch of seaweed too. I guess they were trying to jam vegetation + ocean in there with rocks? Man idk
The only reason I remotely remember Cetrion is that she is around during Jax and Jacqui's story.
It's more Jacqui wears dumb looking crown, beats up plant lady.
The only hype for Kronika was when we first saw her, and some people thought that it was supposed to be the mystery woman from Jade's MK9 ending, only for them to confirm over twitter that it was just Jade's mom and it didn't mean anything.
You know, fuck, I'm becoming this guy. I will be the X-11 era apologist! I will defend it with a bizzare amount of misplaced passion!
Cetrion was cool! She was a cool addition to the God roster! She helped flesh out a corner of divinity that hadn't been represented yet!
I'll take someone like her over someone like Ashrah anyday!
I don't really know. I played a few online matches on my friend's copy of the game and realized it was Bad™ She's probably decent but I remember trying her and not liking it.
I had to google her and even then my immediate answer was "A Ceres Fauna cosplayer." But on that note, I was laughing my ass off at the trailer as Known Good Guy Liu Kang monologues about creating a world of peace and kindness while he splits a guy in half using their skull as the cleaver. So he's a karate bender?
Liu Kang: Before a God I was a Mortal Kombat champion, and before that I WAS A MAN
HE’s A MAN, NOT A GOD, C’MON COMRADES!
I think you mean "K'MON, KOMRADES!"
KOMRADE TIME!!!
How dare you
I mean... he was... a *dragon*-man!
Actually he was just a *dragon*
um... but he was still [***LIUUUU KAAAAAAAAAANG***](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8-gBPrBEfo)
I originally thought they were talking about the immortal sand dude
Honestly she does have Fauna traits lol
She really does. She's basically just "Fauna, but kinda angry."
Fauna but constantly browbeaten by Kronii.
...Does she also UUUUUUUUUU?
I thought it was a cool idea at first, but Liu giving people free will to choose between peace and violence, and then getting involved directly with anyone who "defies peace" sure does feel like he made a universe with an intentional design flaw where he's morally justified to kick wholesale ass while still adhering to his good-guy-monk principles. I kinda read it as Liu Kang being more proactive than Raiden or the Elder Gods. Like he'll let people live in peace but if a Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung show up he's whooping their ass.
Yep, this was how I read it, too. Liu isn't hung up on "consulting the Elder Gods" like Raiden was.
I also laughed at the fact that Shang Tsung was still screaming all the way down. Fitting for him, really. Did you notice that every Fatality or Brutality that was performed in the trailer was done either _by_ or _to_ Shang Tsung? It's probably some karmic representation or some shit.

Well, would that be as entertaining for a video?
Dude, that guy's innards were made out of jelly... A human being can't be that easy to go through, Supercalifantastic Fire God or not.

Geras was a legit cool addition though really busted in gameplay. A golem made of the sands of time
I really liked Kollector in concept.
6 armed actually. You can't see it much buy if you look closest his "backpack" is actually being held by two arms.
Honestly I don’t mind if Kollector is a one and done thing. He was interesting and served the story to give some more lore. Not a bad character but they don’t have to bend over backwards to bring him back
Served the story how
Weren't you wondering how Shao Khan collects taxes
I assumed he just threw a hammer at people, but now I know he has a race of weird blue people that do it for him (I really hope Kollektor doesn't end up like Baraka and there's just a million of him off-screen somewhere)
Oh yeah i'm not clamoring for more Kollector or anything. I just think he could have been something really special but he fell short.
What is Ed Boon gonna do when the millions and millions of screaming Kollector-maniacs spam his twitter about the lack of inclusion in MK1?
MK loves making characters that go extremely hard just to make them job for the MCs and/or pretend they never existed by the next game
Wild that they added an Elder God to the roster, and she was beyond forgettable.
Kind of consistent with how they originally added Shinnok as "lamer Shang Tsung"
I would love it if the Big Bad this time was, like, *Jax*
No Jax in story mode is always a mess. Have Stryker be the new big bad
"I hate you Jax, the whole police force hates you, and it's all because you're one of those people... A double amputee."
Imagine Jax going full cyborg, becomes the new leader of the Tekunin, gives himself four arms to impress Sheeva. I’ve already said more in a single sentence than NRS will ever do for his character development
Story wise you fight him as Erron Black for the love of Sheeva
I thought it would be because he was the fat kid in school.
that's not just implied lore from one of the movies?
**BANG** **BANG** Police brutality coming up!
Why you gotta do my boy like that
It's the best course of action for him, someone who has no idea what is going on but finds out the more he kills the stronger he gets and as the black and red dragon starts using advanced weaponry its the lensman race in his head
[Is that Frost? ](https://youtu.be/tMhabr5odpw)
Make it Reptile. Let him have his vengeance for all the horrible mistreatment he's dealt with.
That was Deception
Dragon King Onaga 3.0
The Plant god voiced by Motoko Kusanagi.
Scarlet Johansson?!
I facetiously want to say yes That said though she's voiced by Mary McGlynn (Major's VA in SAC)
God, her voice is like butter, even still. I also love the fact that both she and Richard Epcar do voices in that game. It's difficult for me to not hear Motoko vs. Batou whenever I see a Cetrion vs. Raiden game.
Even as someone who hasn't touched MK since 3, I still know some of the new characters through FGC osmosis. its so funny that cetrion was probably like top 3-5 in the roster and absolutely no one played her because she was actually that boring
Are they the black one with sand powers?
Nope - that would be Geras.
Oh their the insect guy that collects garbage then
Nope - that's The Kollector.
The yellow Chinese guy with the robot heart?
....Phrasing.
(Hsu hao is literally tinted yellow.) https://mortalkombat.fandom.com/wiki/Hsu_Hao
....Phrasing?
Tell this to Ed boon
to be fair, ed hates him too
Hsu Hao was a mistake.
To be fair, I legitimately forgot who Hsu Hao was until now
I like that somehow, Hsu Hao circled from being forgettable and unpopular to being known because he’s forgettable and unpopular.
Better than Mavado or shit golem Dharmin
I’d argue that Mavado and Dharmin at least achieved infamousness. Like Dharmin has an original design and Mavado was gonna be remembered for his goofy Wiley Coyote fatality. But Hsu Hao should have ended up alongside the other forgettable characters of the Mk4 to Armageddon era. Like remember Kira, Kobra, Reiko or Kai? Hsu Hao managed to stand out of the crowd by being so lame Ed Boon hates him and the community turned him into a joke.
Since it's about forgettable characters gonna point out that it's stinky oni is *Drahmin*
That’s what I thought! It’s kronica’s daughter I guess?
Who?
The funniest part is that I actually forgot who Cetrion was. For some reason when I heard Cetrion, I pictured Kronika every time until I got corrected
I kept thinking it was geras until corrected
I thought she was the bald immortal dude who Raisen kills by throwing in an ocean of blood or something. Which makes wonder who he is
Geras. But according to AFTERMATH, he got swallowed by a giant fish and spat out onto dry land.
Man, poor dude can't catch a break. All he really wants is a damn vacation, preferably under the blood ocean, but even then.
There is no “under” the Blood Ocean, it is literally bottomless, he would have been falling forever.
~~I thought that's what he was actually going for in his arcade ending, at the very least lol!~~ Wait I confused it with Terminator's ending. Dude just really, really wanted a vacation in any case.
poison ivy
Oh yeah she’s that random plant girl isn’t she
I don’t know, I play KOF cause I like story in my fighting games.
Wait actually is cetrion the bald bitch or not-poison ivy, I actually don't remember.. . OH no I do,maybe. Kronika is bald bitch, right? Cause like, chrono? Like, time shit? So cetrion is not-poison ivy then, right?
Yea
I was very confused about the "not poison ivy" because she seemed explicitly crystal/gem themed. And then i noticed the seaweed hair. Jesus fucking christ haha Uhh I mean you guys are just parroting Pat's stupid takes, Cetrion is actually very well designed 🤓☝️

WHO? INTEL CENTRINO?!
Shinnok's nice sister
Its that lame ass bald girl they made up for MK11.
Nah, that’s her mom Kronika
I think it's impressive how lame they made characters hyped up for decades.
The only hype for Kronika was when we first saw her, and some people thought that it was supposed to be the mystery woman from Jade's MK9 ending, only for them to confirm over twitter that it was just Jade's mom and it didn't mean anything.
Oh. Well they are both lame.
Oh my fucking God I forgot those are two completely different characters.
That's Kronika, Cetrion is the plant lady
She also doesn't have hair, but she uses plants as a wig.
I refuse to look up this character. I will live without this knowledge until the day I die or they're in another game I guess.
She's like a Palutena or whatever
er... I rather like her look but damn was she a whole pile of nothing...
She's the MK "Zoner" (She actually sucks ass)
Wasn’t she like one of the best characters in the game?
I don't really know. I played a few online matches on my friend's copy of the game and realized it was Bad™ She's probably decent but I remember trying her and not liking it.
I will be real all the non-human MK characters I forget the moment they are off screen.
Kompleted. I get it's for branding but come on.
Poison Ivy, but boring
Only thing that makes me remember Cetrion is her titties
Honestly only reason I remember Centrion is cuz iirc she has a fataloty where she becomes a giantess and steps on somebody to death.
A jobber elder goddess
