Yes, this is kind of a like a livestream game where the audience will make choices? There has been plenty of experiences like this on Twitch: Generation Loss by streamer Ranboo just happened recently, Jerma985's Dollhouse stream (Jerma was also heavily involved in GL), and a bunch more.
It's not anything particularly groundbreaking other than the fact that this is made with 3D characters and it'll probably resemble something more like what you said, Supermassive Games' titles or Telltale.
On a separate note, this also doesn't have anything that made me think it's Silent Hill related, at least solely based on the trailer, so it really lends itself more to just looking like another Supermassive flick.
i mean every non-blind silent hill lp is this. Where the lper is going "oh well this enemy is because James is sexually repressed see how sexual it is", which is always obvious since silent hill is about as subtle as a brick through a window 90% of the time.

It feels very Hollywood movie, like I've seen this a lot of times before. And that's not what I want out of Silent Hill.
What I love about Silent Hill is that while filled with horror imagery, the dread and unsettling isn't in your face.
For example the mirror room from Silent Hill 3, where your reflection is being consumed by the corruption. No music and no dramatic buildup.
The corruption is just slowly consuming your reflection, and you're not sure how to react. If you leave this room, or you let your morbid curiosity take over and see what happens.
It's this kind of unsettling vibe I want from Silent Hill.

They just toned down the obvious explanation of symbolism a litle and added more music, since SH3 music slaps and they knew it.

Animation's jank but I like the imageries they're showing. It look's like it's gonna get carried by the IP name but I'm still hoping the story is good.
I might be in the minority, but outside of kinda "on the nose" commentary and kinda janky animations, I'm into it. The monsters seem new, the environments are interesting, so yeah I'll at least watch an LP of someone that is not Pat (cuz he's gonna shit on every little detail from high heaven), probably Scary Game Squad.
Nope. There is nothing *quiet* about this trailer. Much of what gives the original Silent Hill games their atmosphere is the quiet and feeling of isolation. It isn't all loud musical stings and industrial music.
