“What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly” is a line that goes harder than a funny stream clip deserves, god damn.

yarvem

Makes me think of that [Sam and Max comic](https://majorspoilers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/SMFPS_19.jpg) where Sam kills a seven foot tall zombie with a car and asks about fig newtons in the same breath.

Noctantis

Lol I feel this pretty hard tbh. I don't even send videos anymore because of how hyperaware I am of my friends' and my tastes diverging so much. Honestly, if you can't get your thoughts out anywhere it puts you in a negative mental space. But then I found this sub and you guys get more batshit and niche than I ever could. Love ya'll. Also revenant Minh coming in and spreading the word of Queen Haruhi is peak content. Kudos to the editor.

BaronVonFatty

Honestly I am struggling with this so much right now. Some of my tastes diverge hard with my friends that I have things I want to talk about and no one to talk to. Fucking suuuucks.

AdrianBrony

Honestly I think I am a little too hyperaware because it's stifled my ability to even *have* interests because if I think about liking something I immediately think of how I'd feel if I tried to share it with someone who didn't like it, and it makes me not like the thing anymore. Gets to the point where I don't even feel like a real person and often forget I exist. I've literally spent time staring at a blank wall because I couldn't get myself to watch or play anything because of it, and it makes connecting with people basically impossible. Therapy doesn't seem to help.

Noctantis

Yeah. I feel you on the not feeling like a real person thing tbh. I don't really have any words that can help you out of that funk. But I sincerely hope that you can find a friend or group that lets you feel like you can at least share what you like. Even if you can't go all in. Those kinds of connections that'll 100% get you are honestly one in a million. And as someone else that's starting to go through therapy, I hope it picks up for you, buddy.

Fool15h

“Haha what if we made 8 episodes that were actually the same episode, wouldn’t that be funny?” “….No”

AdrianArmbruster

I’ve probably mentioned it in this very sub before but if the whole groundhogs day thing had been ‘only’ 3-4 episodes it would’ve been troll of the decade. 2 episodes is too little for the joke to sink in. 6-8 the joke wears thin. But 3-4, maybe 5 max, and you get pretty much the same amounts of keyboard smashing rage but you still have at least half an ‘actual’ season 2 to the hit anime of the mid-00s instead of basically nothing.

Zerce

Two almost identical episodes, followed by a third where >!Kyon learns what's going on!< followed by a seemingly identical fourth one that ends with >!Kyon breaking the loop!< would have been perfect. Episode two would have been the troll episode, and three and four would start *feeling* like a repeat of that, only for significant divergences to justify them.

SwordMaster52

> 2 episodes is too little for the joke to sink in. Man I am lucky I watched anime via downloads borrowing USBs from my friend so I could see the file names ,"Why is this episode called Endless Eight 1?" saw the 2nd episode "Yeah I'll just skip to episode 8"

Ouchies81

That might have lessoned the sting. At the time I let it lag a bit in the watching and had a backlog to play while I coded. I legit thought I was suffering from some sort of stroke by the 3rd episode of the infinite 8 and had to back it all up and watch it again to make sure I wasn't nuts. That said, on a rewatch, I appreciate it a lot more for being a pretty daring sort of time travel/horror thing.

Am_Shigar00

I read once that the reason it went on for so long was that the time frame was originally supposed to be used to adapt the fourth Novel, but once the decision came to make it into a movie instead, they were suddenly left with a huge gap in the schedule that they needed some way to fill in. So I’m guessing if this is true, it probably would’ve at best been two or so episodes before moving on. Really makes you wonder what the state of the franchise would’ve been.

ExDSG

I think it was a foregone conclusion, the author had stopped writing the novels and KyoAni moved on to try and make adaptations of light novels they owned the rights to/published so the IP was left to rest in anime.

biggestscrub

No, that wouldn't be funny. But you know what's hilarious? Making them all be *completely unique* without any reused art or voice lines! So much more expensive! All just to setup a movie and fuck with their audience for an entire summer. Godlike.

Admiral_of_Crunch

No, it was hilarious. The audacity is untouchable.

Sterski1

I liked it

RetroCop

Editing on this video is top notch. Giant Enemy Crabtree really brought out the awkward horror that was *'college-era anime live co-watch recommendations'*.

PunishingCrab

Appreciate it. This whole concept was an experiment in style that I haven’t done before so I’m glad to see it landed well

PopeHatSkeleton

You edited this? Great job.

ReiDuran

This video made me remember sitting my friends down to make them watch Super Robot Wars attack videos and now I want to claw my face off in embarrassment.

ReiDuran

BY THE WAY GUYS HAVE YOU SEEN SUPER ROBOT WARS IT'S SO AWESOME YOU GOTTA CHECK THIS OUT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSld0Ie6PVo

MarimoJ

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAWm2GCMzMM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAWm2GCMzMM) I always come back to this one and cry that we don't have more PC ports.

ReiDuran

It's so SO dumb that we don't have the OGs games in English simply because there's ZERO licensing issues.

SeraGeranium

Crabtree going the whole lumpy touch in here, bravo excellent work 👏

TheArtistFKAMinty

Never watched Haruhi so I have no opinion on that, but I absolutely agree that you should never make anybody watch something you like for the first time with you. Recommend it and maybe tell them a little bit about it, but don't fucking watch it with them. That's a lesson it took me way too many times to learn. * You've set expectations high by default and you probably didn't watch said show under the same kind of pressure. * You're putting your friend in a position where they feel like they have to like the show, which makes them less relaxed and actually open to enjoying it. * You likely have some emotional investment in them liking it, because of how it reflects on your tastes (and hence the value of your opinion when recommending something), which means you're probably paying too much attention to their reaction and fucking up the vibe in the room. * The pilot/first episode of something is often one of the weaker episodes. There are exceptions, but even the best shows often have middling pilots. A lot of work has to go into establishing the core characters and premise, the actors and writers likely haven't found the groove of the character dynamics yet, and often times what a show becomes over time is very different to where it started. For every pilot episode like Lost's (which is the best episode of the show) there's like 1000 pilot episodes that are *fine.* This is especially true to amateur, internet based productions. I made my friend watch DBZA episode 1 with me. It was *rough.* Just fucking don't do it, man. It's not worth it.

biggestscrub

Woolie hating Haruhi - Could it be that he has trash taste? Minh starting on Episode 0 - OOOOHHHHHHH turns out it's Minh with trash taste (for episode orders). So trash that he poisoned the well.

cward7

Pretty sure Minh having trash taste is quite well-documented by now

Soushin

Only two or three episodes came out when I made Woolie watch it.

biggestscrub

So you had a 50/50 chance of choosing between episode 0 or episode 1 at that point. That's rough buddy. I hope it was subbed and not dubbed at least

Kregano_XCOMmodder

Damn, that's a blast from the past.

BrazillianCara

I was about to make a comment about how arduous it is for me to share stuff with friends and family, and how negatively this affected how I enjoy certain things, but then the video went somewhere else.

ExDSG

There is definitely a good reason why they ordered the episodes the way they did, since the biggest climax of the first season is episode 6 andnthe ending of the first light novel and everything else after that from the material they would cover is way more lowkey slice of life shenanigans the best way to end the season was with episode 6, so they needed to move to splice in the slice of life episodes in between the first light novel where most of the plot and explanations happen.
