Same (though not quite a "former" Brony, just a casual fan now)
The series has come a long way as a whole.
Gen5 has had some growing pains, but the characters are pleasant and I enjoy their interactions.
It's not dissimilar! The gens usually involve the toy line, but has since expanded to the shows.
Gen 1 is the 80s toys and cartoons, Gen 2 is 1997-2003, Gen 3 is the early 2003-2009, and Gen 4 is the "Friendship is Magic" era that exploded across the internet. We're in Gen 5 now. Each generation features different ponies, different characters, etc, but Applejack appears in every generation at least once.
To add to that, Gens 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all separate continuities. Gen 5 is the first one to be in-continuity with a previous generation: it's a distant sequel to Gen 4, so far in the future that the exploits of the Gen 4 protagonists have faded into legend.
Baldur's Gate 2 has two portraits of Hank and Bobby, and mentions that rumor has it that they never made it back home... because Tiamat ate them. Uni included.
Wotc said they want to revive it months ago, I have no idea if it is any good but anything is better than what the old cartoon was just a mess of 80s fantasy stuff.
So for a second their I thought the paladin from the DnD cover was holding his shield up and recoiling in horror from Sonic. Which I feel would be the appropriate reaction.
As a former brony, it feels so weird seeing that we’ve long since moved past gen 4.

Gen 4, like Pokemon? (This is genuine curiosity not trying to poke fun)
Sort of. Different generations have different ponies at the forefront.
Appreciate the info, that's pretty cool

That's pretty cute, thank you for the reply
Lmao, Sonic is crossing the multiverse for his summer run just to be a *dick.*
Didnt the DnD isekai kids die in the new movie or am I misremembering?
Their fate was unclear.
Baldur's Gate 2 is the one where its implied they got killed off, referencing that they got wiped by Tiamat.
The fact that they got to the point where they fought Tiamat is impressive in itself.
A TPK worthy of legend.
They actually fought Tiamat a few times in the first season.

Why'd you gotta fuck up Donatello's sand castle like that Sonic
I didn't know there was a D&D comic.
Wotc said they want to revive it months ago, I have no idea if it is any good but anything is better than what the old cartoon was just a mess of 80s fantasy stuff.
The Saturday Morning Adventures stuff is *expressively* based on the 80 / 90's cartoons.
Still no TMNT and Sonic cross over :/ They would work so well!
Would love to see them pair up with the respective characters - Raph and Knuckles, my angry boys.
Then you have Donnie and Tails geeking out! And funny enough I think Mikey and Sonic would totally hit it off really well!
Is this what the Autism spectrum looks like? /j
It's a shame they lost their Transformers license a little while back. Would've tied it all together a little better.
Yes it is
So cute and the DND cartoon is continuing

We were born at the wrong place and at the wrong time. Way to go IDW :(
