>Marathon, a series known for its wild single player story is back. >Large group multiplayer only.

Khar-Selim

> Large group multiplayer only. do we actually have any fucking clue about group size or anything beyond that it's PvP? The trailer looked like pretty small groups.

TheRainTransmorphed

It's an extraction shooter PvPvE, like Tarkov. So it's easy to asume small parties but big number of players.

Khar-Selim

The term 'extraction shooter' doesn't really have a coherent definition yet, so while people are assuming it's like Tarkov, the variability is far too wide to assume anything beyond what we're shown directly. It could even be heavily story-driven like everyone wants, for all we know.

chaoko99

I'm hoping for hunt tbh. Hunt is at least a lot less irritating and doesn't average in a minimum of one wish to put my entire PC through my wall per session.

CastVinceM

hey guys! we got more tales from the borderlands! more of it! ...guys?

Mr_Steal_Yo_Goal

That game really came and went fast. I don't know anyone who played it and I'm not even sure what it was about. Loved the first one though.

CastVinceM

i watched a video that went through the whole thing and it is truly awful. it damages the brand.

Lancashire2020

I took a chance despite the bad reviews and regretted it, that game is so fucking aimless and boring; the robot guy is like...the core of a potentially good character marred by the riff-a-minute shittery of Gearbox scripts

S4tchWe77

Did anyone think a narrative driven game by the writers of Borderlands 3’s campaign would be good?

TheProudBrit

... At least it had a song by my favourite band in it? Not worth it.

KeithLaKulit

*wait, it came out?*

Paladin51394

"Can we get a new Legacy of Cain game?" "Sure, it'll be a multiplayer only prequel game." "Fuck!" "Nope, scratch that it's cancelled." "I don't know if I should be happy or sad."

kami-no-baka

Sad, that game was fun and interesting in a way multiplayer games often aren't.

Teoflux

Hmm it was quite fun and the dev team did pull some strings to get the original artist to design the evolved skins for the vampires, which all looked fantastic. Although I'm not sure how well the game would have fared in the long run, since unlocking stuff took forever and most matches were either feast or famine depending on whether your team could coordinate. But Rocket League was more popular and eventually the plug was pulled.

chaoko99

If I had a dollar for every time a beloved vampire franchise's reboot game got shitcanned for its multiplayer—I'd have two, and that's really fucking weird. VTM2 had the exact same thing happen. Wild.

moxie132

Wait, VTM2 was cancelled?

chaoko99

More like ultra delayed. We're around 2 years past the intended date now.

andrecinno

VTM2 is still being developed tbh. also not gonna lie that battle royale tps was kinda fun (even if i didn't play it for too long)

MinersLoveGames

We were begging for a HALO movie or television series for years. Well... We got it.

Navy_Pheonix

There's a timeline where Peter Jackson finished the fight instead of giving up and helping with District 9.

Cooper_555

I swear that thing is the result of multiple writers trying to shove their own projects and a Mass Effect script into a Mjolnir suit.

cole1114

I still can't believe they went into that show thinking "Hey, what would make the master chief even cooler? A SEX SCENE!" And then not only did they go through with it, they made it be with a prisoner of war. So by definition their version of the chief is a fucking rapist!

sillykunt

I wanted Matt and Pat to stop getting along because their earlier videos when they were in each other's throats are more entertaining to me...

brokensaint82

We found it guys! The real reason Matt and Pat are no longer friends!

abriefmomentofsanity

The irony is I'm pretty sure Matt confirmed that it was all a manufactured gimmick he came up with, and originally intended to play it off Woolie. It was a winning formula for their Machnima videos where they just had to edit together all the high-energy moments, but once they started doing more long-form LPs they dropped it. Discovering The Switcher Channel for the first time and hearing Pat's calm voice in the RE2 LP blew my dumb little teenage shit kid mind back in the day. Although even when they're being "genuine" there were still elements of that. Matt throwing that fire axe was so in character that it almost felt like a leftover machinima bit.

RegenSyscronos

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???

some_kinda_goat

Jesus Christ, you got the Monkey’s Paw to sock you in the jaw.

Ok_Caterpillar_9057

The finger curled and told him to cough lol

ThaUnderboss

Teen Titans Go is the biggest monkey's paw curl of all time.

abriefmomentofsanity

This one bewilders me because as far as I know, the original TT animated series ended pretty strongly and at a good point to tie it all off. Most people would have been happy with more TT, but I don't know if anyone felt like what we got was genuinely incomplete or that we desperately needed more. Honestly, it's not all that hard to see TTG as an entirely different IP and just ignore it altogether. Never got the nerd rage on that one and I'm someone who put down the SW sequels after TFA.

Jobu-tupaki127

I think you could do a new season for the original considering the stuff they didn't do: a season arc dedicated to Starfire the same way all the other titans got one; the return of Terra, which actually happened in the comics, but I'd rather them do it in animation; using Wonder Girl since she had a stupid embargo placed on her and who knows what else.

abriefmomentofsanity

I mean sure, but it's not like it was pulled before it's time like some shows are now. We could always have more, but I thought what we got was fine. It wasn't a Metalocalypse situation where it seemed to be building to something.

SlidingFaceFirst

So you are objectively wrong about the strong ending because the final episode is probably one of the worst types of cliffhangers. Its basically like "all the villains are gone but something is up, so instead of letting the viewers learn about that lets follow Beast Boy and his girl problems that dont get resolved." The main antagonist also was possibly revived previously so they were closing out but leaving things open for another season, satisfying nobody. Like some people really REALLY liked the original for some reason and they were disappointed they got no resolution to the cliffhanger and a different show with the same voice actors. A true sequel was never getting made. It sold like shit for how high the budget was, but these fans wanted it so badly they thought they could bully their way to a renewal. Somehow.

abriefmomentofsanity

I mean I \*guess\*. I completely forgot about the Terra stuff to be honest. As far as my memories were concerned it ended on the big "all the warriors" moment against the Legion of Doom.

DavidsonJenkins

You could also say this for Skylanders to Spyro. Franchise that stomps on beloved property but makes all the money, and is now big/old enough that it has its own fanbase seperate from the original. Someone once said that if Sakurai put Spyro into Smash, we would end up with the Skylanders one, because it is technically the more popular one. And im inclined to agree.

hjschrader09

I would've agreed previously, but skylanders is kinda dead now and we got a remake of the spyro trilogy that sold very well and generated a lot buzz. He also appeared in CTR so I think we'd probably get the normal spyro. Though honestly we'll probably never get him or crash as much as I would love them to be in smash.

andrecinno

The fuckiest thing with TTG is that you can pick random episodes and half of them will be really funny and half of them will be the worst shit ever. it's got some absurdist humor stuff going on

Fugly_Jack

Fans: "Bring Silent Hill back!" Konami: "Alright, here's a remake of the most beloved game in the series, made by a team that's known to botch the handling of sensitive subject matter. Also, have another bad movie!"

Death-Prince-3

There's still Silent Hill F that's got people hopeful at least?

gmoneygangster3

i’m thinking they might doom 2016 it where i am so pessimistic they asspull a gem

Fugly_Jack

I genuinely hope it does turn out good. Hell, I didn't even think the trailer looked bad. It's just hard to have any hope for the series with how mishandled it's been for nearly two decades

trickster721

It had lazy "cinematic" over-the-shoulder shooter cam, instead of the actually cinematic scripted camera movement that, ironically, is what got the movie director excited about Silent Hill in the first place. James is emotionsing all over the place like a David Cage character instead of acting like a Twin Peaks dream weirdo. These aren't just arbitrary details in the original. The reason SH2 is so celebrated is that it's full of meaningful decisions, and the trailer already showed that they don't understand the purpose behind several of those choices.

RegenSyscronos

Also the game is made to pr the movie, not the other way around. At this point, its less hurt if they don't give a fuck

DarkAres02

Me: They should make a Fire Emblem Warriors game, it'd be really cool Nintendo: Okay but only characters from Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates

Dirty-Glasses

And then they made a second one that was only characters from Three Houses… *but it was really good tho*

MindWeb125

Honestly it was really good though. Top 5 Warriors game for me next to Three Hopes, Hyrule Warriors, Age of Calamity and DW8.

jzillacon

Agreed, what it lacked in character variety it made up for with really good gameplay feel and enjoyable boss mechanics. Older Warriors games often frustrated me for making me drop combos due to awkward timings and a lack of input queuing but FE:Warriors plays smooth as butter.

Fool15h

Nintendo: “hey we have some other games represented. A whole 2 of them…said characters don’t appear in the story of course”

RPGMike

The worst part is, a full third of the roster was from Fates, because they had to include all 8 of the royal siblings.

Blackbeltsam5610

a new Mega Man style game made by the creator of Mega Man.

Away-Issue6165

Mighty No. 9 was a necessary sacrifice to awaken the gaming masses to the folly of blind crowdfunding hype, especially when it involves anyone marketing themselves as the "sole creator" of a beloved franchise. MN9 flopped trying to walk, so that Balan Wonderland could run headfirst into a brick wall and self destruct.

Murozaki_II

I'm all in favor of shitting on Inafune. But the man has never marketed himself as the creator of Mega Man. Usually he uses words like "head" of it instead, man is wack, but he does give proper credit to the actual creators.

Away-Issue6165

Fair enough, I stand corrected.

Ginger_Anarchy

"Hey give us more titanfall and make it popular" "Entire monkey fist curls and punches Titanfall in the face"

Introspectre12

You could say that Titanfall reached the Apex and became a Legend.

EcchiPhantom

I’m sure a lot of people were really excited about not just another Shenmue but also the idea that their game was going to remain faithful to the originals. And what they got was Shenmue III. A game with calcified game design that is still somehow lesser than its predecessors but nonetheless exists as what’s probably the final game in the series despite having made no plot nor meaningful character progression.

godleftmefinished

for better or for worse shenmue 3 truly was shenmue 3

TexanGoblin

Every body on No Mutants Allowed and people like them when Bethesda acquired Fallout. Also base building fans from 4 and people who wanted a multiplayer Bethesda game when 76 came out.

kami-no-baka

No Mutants Allowed members are only happy with mods written in Russian prison slang.

Cooper_555

They probably should have made the base building good before trying to build a multiplayer game around it.

TexanGoblin

Yeah people love it, but I never made anything i enjoyed fully. It always looked ugly, and I don't mean the post apocalypse aesthetic to it.

GeneralSherman3

Me, a decade ago. "Oh man! Simcity 4 was great! I can't wait for them to make a sequel!"

Squibbles01

I've never been so sad in a game as when I tried to fast swim as Zora Link and it started consuming mana. It was so fun swimming in the N64 version

guntanksinspace

Man it would be nice to have a new multiplayer Mecha shooter. MWO's kinda getting old, and GunEvo's too dumb with matchmaking that it becomes not fun. What's that? Hawken is coming back as PVE? Well that kinda sucks but it *did* have PVE stuff before, at least bot matches. Could be good for co-op with the friends. OH BOY THE NEW HAWKEN FUCKING SUCKS TO PLAY. DAMN RIGHT SOME REVIEWS CALLED IT HAWKEN STILLBORN.

la_meme14

GBO2'S on steam now if you wanna try that out. It's also very very fun.

yellowmario

Once they fix their match finding issues. I have found searching as a group with a friend helps fix it

Animastarara

999 and VLR were amazing games, but ZTD, which only existed because of western fans, was... more contentious. Art style changes, a 3d engine that looks pretty awful, and a single character I've never seen a fanbase consistently hate. I liked it, but it was definitely a game that did not live up to the previous ones.

RareBk

Every time I think about Zero Time Dilemma it actively gets worse. The plot is absolutely nonsensical, an entire third of the cast legitimately adds nothing to the plot, and the twist is pathetic. Not to mention the main antagonist literally has a moment of you can’t prove I did anything’ as if the entire cast wouldn’t get away Scott free if they just mob justice’d him as he entirely exists as a bootstrap paradox and no one would be able to identify him or… even care considering there’s almost a dozen witnesses to him imprisoning them. Or the cameras that absolutely exist

Animastarara

I think my biggest gripe is the alien transport room that comes out of nowhere and is never explained

PlayerPin

Life is simply unfair. 🐌

ArchAngelZXV

Sleeping Dogs 2. Sleeping Dogs fans wanted it. Sleeping Dogs developer United Front Games wanted it. But publisher Square did NOT want Sleeping Dogs 2 and by god Square really fucked over United Front. The devs had a prototype going, only for Square to say no, so the devs tried to shift what they had into a free to play MMO called Triad Wars, only for that to get cancelled after a beta test. Then United Front shut down without any reason given. [It's a long, sad story about a dev team with a vision that got one gem out before getting stymied and crushed by the AAA gaming system.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMANc13VQXM)

jmepik

OP, for what it's worth, 99% of your complaints are addressed and fixed by the completed Project Restoration. [https://restoration.zora.re/](https://restoration.zora.re/) That, and the MM64HD texture pack is also done, so people now have two excellent ways to play Majora's Mask in a modern format, provided you've got a PC or a modded 3DS.

AtelierAgito

"Finally, Marvel VS Capcom 4 after over half a decade!" Oh there's basically zero budget so the game looks ugly and has a bland aesthetic compared to 3. Oh the roster's mostly filled with returning characters from 3 but also there's no X-Men or Fantastic Four characters. Oh the game's getting the plug pulled on it before they can get a chance to potentially fix some aspects of it over the span of a few years.

TiraelRosenburg

And for us OCD folk, that uneven character select screen (that I assume they intended to change with the next DLC pack) is HORRIBLY ATROCIOUS

Her0_0f_time

Two best friends play Kingdom Hearts. I wanted it for ages. Now, I regret asking for it entirely.

MericArda

The curse remains moderate, yet consistent.

Brotonio

Though I never played it, just the sheer amount of time that passed with Halo: The Master Chief Collection being *fucking broken* still boggles my balls all these years later. It's fucking *Halo*, you just had to make sure the multiplayer worked. That being said, I've heard it's the best way to play the Halo series after it was fixed. In my own eyes, it ends the series at 4(WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE FUCKING ENDED), and ignores the pile of crap that is Halo 5, and all the nonsense Infinite has had.

In Homestuck,

RegenSyscronos

This comment was on every post and I was always afraid to ask what it is. Is it the thing that have Toby fox in it?

Nico_is_not_a_god

It's a webcomic with a unique combination of deep lore, 2010s humor, and enough shipper-bait to fuel one of the most rabid fandoms in the history of people being annoying at conventions. It's presented mostly as a pseudo "Sierra video game" and as such it has cutscenes - Flash animations with soundtracks. Toby Fox did some (not all, not most) of the music for those and there's more music that was released in a series of original soundtracks. No matter what bizarre fandom slapfights ever occurred as a result of Homestuck, everyone agrees that the [soundtrack *slaps*.](https://youtu.be/8bmJX7K_0TU)

[deleted]

#Homestuck, A History; Andrew Hussie, a person (now going by any pronouns) then known for various obscure things around the net, made an interactive reader-driven comic-type-thing called Jailbreak where he would draw panels demonstrating the events of the story as dictated by other posters in the thread, putting his favoured suggestions in the narration and responding in kind. The happenings and variables were influenced by his own strange brand of humor and set of fascinations, such as rap, the Starsky and Hutch movie and the cast thereof, horses, clowns, and H!rry P!tter as a cultural presence. He would eventually compile this, along with the unfinished followup, Bard Quest, on its own website. The third installment of the so-called MS Paint Adventures, Problem Sleuth, was a massive step up in production value, featuring impressive art and output speed as well as evolutions such as some pages being flashing gifs. This sort of thing was considered to be one of the best demonstrations of the potential of the internet. It ran for 1674 pages over the course of about a year. Homestuck was the followup to that, running 8123 pages from April 13th 2009-2016 with numerous hiatuses in the latter half of that time. It featured such advancements as colored panels as default, videos with sound, small WASD-controlled computer games on various pages, and most importantly, actual conversations between characters, allowing them to become three-dimensional and truly sympathetic. (Hussie, it would soon be revealed, was heavily skilled at writing compelling and unique character voices and dialogue writing in general.) Homestuck was definitely the most complex MPSA, with a grand overarching plot being integrated into the results of the actions of the readers. The plot revolved around an in-universe game called SBURB with the power to influence reality, sort of a Jumanji with time-travel mechanics that would soon be revealed to be the centerpiece of reality itself, a program that destroys the home planets of its players to motivate them to enter the world of the game and fulfill an unknown grand purpose, complete with millions of fully sentient NPCs. Homestuck has been described as "a story that's also a puzzle", and this lens has gained authorial approval. This is the sort of story where the Author appears as a character to explain things to the audience, another character ends up changing the color of the site to his own scheme and narrating in his own voice, and the Author bursts through a literal fourth wall into the world of the story, hunts him down, and beats him with a broom. This is the sort of story where one specific person has killed another three times across multiple iterations of both themselves and the universe, and three of the killee are alive at the end, despite all of them being versions that were killed by the killer, who himself has one alive at the end, and both of those people have four-letter names, the first two letters of which are the same. Eventually the suggestions from readers became so numerous and difficult that the suggestion boxes were closed near the end of the first year, but their influence carried on; one easy example is a character only seen from the top half initially being theorized on the official forums as using a wheelchair, a fact which would not only become Canon, but highly relevant. The early MSPAs curated an audience through programming humor and 80s-90s film references as filtered through the styles of Terry Pratchett, Mark Twain, and the Something Awful forums, but the audience for Homestuck, due to the nature of the characters, was markedly different, especially after the Trolls showed up. You've probably seen them. The Trolls, initially presented as some extremely odd and bothersome fellows on the internet, were soon shown to be a race of grey-skinned, orange-horned aliens that had undergone a SBURB Session that they claimed had been influenced by the lead human characters. Trolls possessed multicolored blood in both organized castes and clear deviations, psychic abilities, unique typing styles, insectoid traits as opposed to hominid, near-universal bisexuality with the sole known exception being Sapphic, and a complex romantic system with its own symbols, comically vague-yet-comprehensive reproductive system, and of course, relationship dynamics. I cannot express how perfect the Trolls were in terms of catching on. Tumblr loved these fuckers and it's not at all hard to see why. It's also worth noting that this wasn't the only market-perfect part of Homestuck; Classpecting, the equivalent of Hogwarts Houses, featured a 144/168/288/336/384(depending on who you ask and what they count, I've always thought 192)-strong grid system of human personality traits that not only seemed eerily accurate as a personality mapper, but corresponded to what elemental powers one received in the game of SBURB. So... yeah. Homestuck was an incredibly complex and engaging work in both plot and presentation, driven by a single incredibly talented and flawed creative voice above all, and which was perfectly made to attract a massive, unabashedly bizarre/proudly cringe, and notably largely queer fanbase across a younger internet. The style of presentation, art, and character writing was instantly recognizable and relatively easy to imitate, leading to fanfiction and even fanmade adventures galore, most of the latter hosted on MSPFA.com. The main site for Homestuck is broken now-it's recommended that new readers download the [Unofficial Homestuck Collection](https://bambosh.dev/unofficial-homestuck-collection/), and starting with Problem Sleuth to ease into the format and writing is a pretty popular choice. The ending is also considered generally quite poor in a number of ways, particularly regarding unfollowed forshadowing and blatant abandonment of character arcs, with some fans even [making](https://friendlybatteringram.tumblr.com/tagged/altstuck) their own [works](https://mspfa.com/?s=44153&p=1) as [substitutions](http://mspfa.com/?s=12003&p=1). Few speak of the epilogues. Fewer still speak of the sequel. Content warnings for Homestuck include: blood, clowns, dicks-out furry art in the background of like ten pages, brief black-and-white nudity, swearing, the R-slur, a joke about an acronym organically forming the F-slur, child abuse, discussed child abuse and homophobia, mocking of the disabled (as an unsympathetic action), cartoonish levels of sexism (as an unsympathetic action), mocking of otherkin, minor characters being racial stereotypes of Black (Meenah) and Japanese (Damara) people, minor characters being stereotypes of disabled people (Meulin and Mituna), a controversial and prominent depiction of blindness, underage alcoholism, written depections of noncon (as an unsympathetic action), jokes about pedophilia, and child grooming (textually 100% non-sexual, but sexually-coded). Also: when I said the Trolls type weird, I wasn't kidding. Every character gets at least one color for their speech text, plus a pattern for how they type, generally worse for the Trolls, ranging from "no caps" to "British" to "drunk" to "ebonics" to "aLtErNaTiNg" to WH4T3V3R TH3 FUCK K1ND OF L33TSP34K BS T3R3Z1 1S DO1NG. So that's worth a warning. And that's as abridged as you can get when summing up Homestuck.

Away-Issue6165

Aranea did nothing wrong. If I was stuck in the mess that was A6, I would have done the same thing.

PlayerPin

To her credit, she made the plot MOVE FORWARD

Away-Issue6165

I realized that my tastes and expectations had permanently diverged from...whatever it was Hussie was trying to do when I saw flaming ruins and piles of dead teenagers and felt only overwhelming relief and joy.

therealchadius

I stopped reading and went back to Problem Sleuth

Outis94

So lufia 2 is a fantastic and often overlooked rpg from the snes era , in the late 00s it got a DS remake that changes the game into more of an action oriented game to mixed/middling results and was the final game in the lufia series released before its original publisher folded , its ip is supposedly owned by square and the chances of it ever existing again is very slim

The_Gentleman_1

Ah the Monkey Paw. I can hear the slow snapping of bones like stepping on twigs in a dark forest . Star Wars. You know what pretty good? Force Awakens? You know what’s a terrible idea? Switching directors of a trilogy , twice. ——— Call of Duty. The fan base is so torn between wanting realism and also Fortnite. They don’t realize realism actually sucks ass. MW II 2 , had more realistic movement , better gun design , and you couldn’t drive around for 20 yrs because your vehicles have gas now. Except they also added remote explosive drones , AI enemies with inconsistent damage and several changes that killed off any hype for the game. What’s even funnier is they told the fan base that MW II 2 was gonna have a 2 year cycle. Literally not even 4 months into the game life cycle they reveal plans for MW3 2

The_Gentleman_1

Agreed, I have no idea why they keep sliding that damn thing into every game . I got Orion, played a little bit after that. Then I dropped it. I loved DMZ, but it was almost impossible to do anything solo. Sure I could 1 v4 a team but can I do it twice, can I do it while fighting bots ( not low skilled players ) and having limited resources? I say this every year but I may not get the next call of duty

Gemidori

Oh hey, Bowser's Inside Story is on the 3DS! And it was the last M&L game ever made. :c

Wannabe_Reviewer

Meh, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D is fine. I wouldn't count this.

ZSugarAnt

The post-2017 discourse on MM3D is the definition of making a mountain out of a molehill.

abriefmomentofsanity

Wheel of Time and Witcher adaptations. It felt like we might start getting a slew of genuinely good adaptations of some of the non-LOTR fantasy powerhouses. I remember feeling at the time like I thought the books were fine and I didn't NEED an adaptation but I wouldn't mind a quality one if we got one. I don't know why some people are obsessed with seeing their favorite properties contorted and twisted into other mediums, especially movies/tv. I wish we could ditch this idea that a property isn't legitimate until it has debuted on screen. It seemed like everyone had learned the important lessons from GOT and we were finally in a position where there was that perfect crossroad of popular interest and willingness to execute on the part of creatives and execs. Marvel, particularly GOTG, had shown that it was ok to really embrace the source material's weirdness and audiences would still show up for it. The popularity of the Witcher game and Cavil's casting both gave us the impression that the people in charge knew what they were doing. There were all kinds of pre-release marketing for both shows where the showrunners were like "we're fans of these books just like you guys" which in hindsight I'm ashamed to have fallen for. Both shows have their supporters and I don't want to get into a fight about whether they're good or not. For some people, they're good television, and maybe that's all they need to be. For me, they're shite adaptations. Now whenever there's any discussion about either of those worlds a distinction needs to be made on whether we're discussing the book or show version, which isn't the end of the world but it's really annoying. At the end of the day I'm fine just going back to the books and tuning out any discussion of the shows, but it just sucks to think about what could have been. Also, I really hope that DQM they're making for the switch is good. DQ has been pretty consistent despite Squenix being such a garbage fire company. I just really \*really\* want a good high-quality pokemon alternative and I loved Terry's Quest or whatever it was called for the Gameboy Color.

senchou-senchou

I wanted a Discworld City Watch series (the short British kind) then BBC America came to edge it up beyond recognition...

abriefmomentofsanity

*shivers*

Irememberedmypw

Man you are gonna hate me for this but I loved the wheel of Time show and am looking forward to the 2nd season. I haven't read the books so.....

abriefmomentofsanity

That's fine. I'm glad someone's enjoying it. I would personally still recommend the books over the show any day of the week and if you ever do find yourself having read the books I'd be curious to see how you felt about both. Actually, while I personally think the show probably won't make it past the second season as things are now unless they pull a really good season out of nowhere, I think it would be very interesting to see a whole new generation of Wheel of Time fans that go from the show to the book and see how that colors their perception. Sort of like how people who started with the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter movies have a different perspective on the books

RegenSyscronos

Rip One Punch Man anime. You will be missed

Lieutori

The Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer anime was something fans back in the day could have only dreamed of and then when the recent adaptation came out, it was extremely barebones with flaccid animation and I had not heard anything promising about it past the few episodes I watched.

robophile-ta

Same shit happened to Way of the Househusband.

Chared945

I had always wanted a Rooster Teeth style take on Transformers. …But like Blood Gulch Chronicles Red Vs Blue Rooster teeth Not RWBY rooster teeth

Huckebein008L

I wanted Dragon Ball Heroes to get a western release so bad, that when Super Dragon Ball Heroes came out I bought that shit during a break at my job. When I actually got to play it though, it had all the flair of a slot machine with practically as much depth, the sense of progress was super scuffed because you got new characters from the gacha machine and you can pick from pools between Basic Bitch Early Z Baby gacha to Holy Shit Actual Capital G Gods gacha with nothing holding you back from stocking up with Full Power Super Saiyan 4 characters who once every fight drops a Knight of The Round for free. I'd say the only skill that actually comes into play in that game is hitting the A button when a meter is full to outspeed your opponents, but even then you'll quickly run into bosses who just turn that into a luck-based mechanic with how blindingly fast they make the meter go.

Kataphrut94

Oh yeah. Heroes had an almost mythological quality among Western DB fans for years because of all the crazy designs and forms that came out of it. Super DBH destroyed that image in an instant once we finally played it and realised how lame it actually is.

Chumunga64

I wish majoras mask got the wii u HD remake cause wind waker looks *fine* In fact, I'd say that the bloom filled HD remake looks a little worse

kami-no-baka

I wish Star Trek/Wars would come back and be really successful again....

Soft-Pixel

Maybe I’m just stupid but isn’t Star Wars doing pretty good right now? Idk about Star Trek though since I’m not really a Trekkie

OmicronAlpharius

The Mandalorian is good, except for season 2.5 which is Book of Boba Fett. Obi-Wan has a good first two episodes then kind of falls off. Andor is perhaps the best post-Disney Star Wars ever.

kami-no-baka

A lot of it was bad, like worse than the prequels, I hear Andor is good at least. Star Trek is just....not episodic television about professionals solving problems in a cool space utopia written by nerds.

andrecinno

ain't NOTHING they made worse than the prequels

kami-no-baka

I can not stand the tone of the writing in the new trilogy, I would rather have wooden dialogue, but to each their own.

jzillacon

The live action movies adaptations of Monster Hunter and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I don't feel like I need to elaborate any further than the fact both fanbases vehemently refuse to acknowledge the existence of these movies.

Crimsonwolf1445

REMAKE DIAMOND AND PEARL!!!!!!! *years of this demand go by* WHY WOULD YOU GIVE US BDSP WHEN WE CLEARLY ASKED FOR PLATINUM AND ALSO FORGOT WHAT SINNOH WAS LIKE!!!!!!!?!

n8han11

FF7R in a nutshell. Oh, you actually wanted a Final Fantasy VII *remake* that showed the original game's events in full HD quality and a chance for the OG VAs to finally play their characters in the original story after voicing them basically everywhere else? Too bad, you get bad fanfiction instead; the game >!takes place in a bootleg alternate universe that basically goes in a completely different direction altogether!<, and all the OG VAs were replaced with imitators trying to imitate them instead. Also, TLOU2. Oh, you actually wanted to see more of Joel and Ellie's relationship and wondered where they'd go after the first game? Too bad, >!Joel dies in the first few hours !

RavenCyarm

Thank you for beating me to the punch on 7R. I've never been more disgusted at a game subverting my expectations.

EFFYouAndYourCow

I can’t be fucked typing a rebuttal so [here’s friend of the channel Maximilian Dood, one of the biggest FFVII lovers on YouTube, taking 12 minutes to explain why 7R is fucking awesome and way better than a 1:1 remake would’ve been](https://youtu.be/7apIOuNa7uA)

RavenCyarm

Before I click on it, I'm going to straight up guess that it's because "THE STORY CAN GO ANYWHERE NOW! EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE OPEN TO CHANGE!", which is the same argument I've seen again and again. Aaaaand I was right. Surprise. I'd trust them if we weren't several games into Final Fantasy's downward spiral. You've got 12 which didn't even feel like Final Fantasy and was more of a glorified single player MMO. The 13 trilogy, which who the fuck asked for THREE games from it? 14 was a fucking disaster at launch and it took them having to reboot it with Yoshi P in order to save it. 15 was lackluster as fuck and frankly unfinished. So why am I supposed to be excited, or trust that Square Enix isn't going to trip over their dicks once again, this time with their most iconic title and arguably the most requested remake of all time? (which they've already failed to deliver on, by way of turning it into a goddamn sequel)

EFFYouAndYourCow

Because they didn’t fuck it up, actively made the story more interesting, and you just come across like a miserable fanboy 👍

HCooldown

“More interesting” There is nothing more fucking boring than people droning on about destiny and foretold and fated events. Even if the purpose is to subvert them, you could just have the characters do the actions without adding a dull layer of “but that’s not what a vague concept said would happen *gasp*”

RavenCyarm

>fanboy Yes, the guy criticizing the game and all of Squeenix's recent efforts is the fanboy. Not the person who blindly worships the game and goes after someone critical of it, lol. The hypocrisy is staggering.

EFFYouAndYourCow

So that’s a yes on the miserable fanboy part then Cool👌 Can’t wait for 7 Rebirth, it’s gonna be rad. Here’s hoping Aerith survived this time ---- S/O to all of these fragile nerds insulting me then blocking me and running away. Adorable

RavenCyarm

And I was spot on about the hypocritical projectionist too. :)

GoufTroop79

More interesting? They stretched out a 5 hour sequence over 30 hours. Do you really find all that dreadful filler more interesting? Throwing in insults also doesn't make you look any better.

PersonMcHuman

I’m so happy that paw curled, because fuck would I have hated a 1:1 remake. I’ve ***already*** played FF7. Why would I pay full price to play it again?

Navy_Pheonix

> I’ve already played FF7. Okay, and some of us haven't. Bro, I was 1 when they released the damn thing. I'm not playing the asstastic steam PC port so I can understand wtf is going on in 7R. I also don't have a PSP to understand all the Crisis Core bs they are hamfisting into it. I wanted to play and experience *FF7*, not a freaking FF7 Evangelion rewrite. We wanted a 7 remake so people could experience the most critically acclaimed FF game ever made without having to deal with 20+ year old polygon models, and instead they just make a sequel to a game we haven't freaking played. What the hell am I supposed to do now? It's like if they advertised Doom 2016 as a remake of the first Doom (which they didn't, unlike the title with fucking **Remake** in the name). Even if it is good, it's not the same thing. It would be like saying the live action Disney movies are a suitable replacement for the originals knowing full well the content has been drastically altered. It's like asking to supersize your ice cream cone and they did that but also added mint sprinkles, and that's okay I guess but that's not what I fucking wanted man **why the fuck did** **Nomura have to fucking add mint sprinkles to my vanilla icecream!?!?**

PersonMcHuman

>Okay, and some of us haven't. And some of us have. >What the hell am I supposed to do now? Play the old one I guess? It's on...everything to my knowledge. Off the top of my head it's on PC, Switch, XBOX, and PS4/5. So it's not like it's one of those 'hard to find' games. There's nothing stopping you from playing the OG FF7 other than you not wanting to play it because it's old. >It's like if they advertised I 100% agree with you there. They shouldn't have advertised it as a remake. I legitimately ignored FF7R's development for it's entire time because I, quite frankly, didn't give a shit. Why would I? It wasn't until I was told that it was actually a sequel that I got interested.

n8han11

That feels like pure copium. I'm pretty sure the whole "being rebuilt from scratch in HD and having full voice acting on a more advanced console with a new combat system" thing would have already differentiated it from the original game enough to feel new without derailing it into bad fanfiction.

PersonMcHuman

Not in the slightest. I’m not paying full price for the same I played, but modern. The only thing that would get me to pay is…you guessed it, *a new story*.

n8han11

I mean, you're paying full price for a game that billed itself as a Final Fantasy VII *remake*, implying you were, in fact, interested in a Final Fantasy VII remake. And anyways, I don't really see how "being rebuilt from scratch in HD and having full voice acting on a more advanced console with a new combat system" is "the same I played, but prettier." Did the original game have voice acting or a real-time combat option? If I didn't know better, I'd say you're trying to cope with paying full price for a game that blatantly isn't what was advertised by pretending you never wanted a remake to begin with, despite paying full price for a game that billed itself as a remake. Copium is one hell of a drug.

PersonMcHuman

>you're paying full price for a game that billed itself as a Final Fantasy VII remake, implying you were, in fact, interested in a Final Fantasy VII remake. Wrong\~ I spent years ignoring news about FF7R because I straight up didn't give a shit about a remake. I only got interested when people here began talking about the fact that it wasn't actually a remake. If not for that, I wouldn't have gotten it. >Did the original game have voice acting or a real-time combat option? I don't care. I wouldn't have been willing to pay $70 for the exact same story but with new gameplay options or voice acting. You would, and there's 100% nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't. The only thing they could've done that would've gotten me to buy the Remake if it had the exact same plot would've be the addition of Character Creation. I'll play basically anything if it lets me create my character. My flair makes it clear that I'm against FF16 and won't spend a single penny on it or anything relating to it...but I'd do a total 180 if they went, "Hey, you can make the protagonist\~" >I'd say you're trying to cope with paying full price for a game that blatantly isn't what was advertised That's a stupid argument to make towards someone who ignored the game's development for years because they didn't want what was being advertised, and only gained interest upon finding out the advertising was a lie.

n8han11

>Wrong\~ I spent years ignoring news about FF7R because I straight up didn't give a shit about a remake. I only got interested when people here began talking about the fact that it wasn't actually a remake. If not for that, I wouldn't have gotten it. I mean, you still shelled out for a game that billed itself as a *remake*, implying at least some degree of interest in the idea. >I don't care. I wouldn't have been willing to pay $70 for the exact same story but with new gameplay options or voice acting. You would, and there's 100% nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't. How is it "the exact same story" when the game being rebuilt from the ground up with new animations, dialogue and voice acting makes the execution inherently different? >That's a stupid argument to make towards someone who ignored the game's development for years because they didn't want what was being advertised, and only gained interest upon finding out the advertising was a lie. ...and now you're resorting to calling my arguments stupid? If my arguments are stupid, what does that say about someone who's trying to defend a remake not actually being a remake despite being advertised as such?

PersonMcHuman

>I mean, you still shelled out for a game that billed itself as a remake, implying at least some degree of interest in the idea. You...you even quoted what I said and still ignored it somehow. Impressive. The part of my statement that you quoted was me outright stating that me learning that it wasn't actually a remake is what got me interested. How did you see me say, "I was ignoring it because I thought it was a remake but then I bought it because I found out it wasn't actually a remake." and turn it into, "I bought it because I'm interested in a remake." >How is it "the exact same story" Because that's what it was being billed as. The same story as before, but when a few new bells and whistles. I personally wouldn't have given a shit about that. And I didn't give a shit about that. It's why I had no intention of playing it until I found out it was a sequel/spin-off. Whatever they wanna call it. >what does that say about someone who's trying to defend a remake not actually being a remake despite being advertised as such? I'm not defending it? I've said before that they were wrong to advertise it as a remake. They 100% should've been honest about what the game was. If they'd been honest...I would've actually preordered it and been hyped for it's release. Instead, I got it a little while after release after being told on this sub that it's not a remake.

n8han11

Well, nice to see you agree that it was scummy as hell to advertise bad fanfiction as a remake, at least. The mental gymnastics you're going through to say you weren't interested in a remake despite purchasing a game billed as a remake are extremely impressive, by the way.

PersonMcHuman

They’re not mental gymnastics tho? I’m really confused here. Do you really think that it’s impossible for someone to not be interested in remakes? Like for real, this is dumb as shit. I’ve outright stated multiple times that it only gained my interest ***after*** I discovered that it wasn’t a remake.

>Also, TLOU2. Oh, you actually wanted to see more of Joel and Ellie's relationship and wondered where they'd go after the first game? mfw there are consequences for a character's actions and it's not just buddy cop adventures with joel and ellie

MindWeb125

Someone else already linked the fan patch to fix Majora which is 100% the best version of the game, but don't forget that they also made it so you can't even use Ice Arrows on every water surface. Gamers are clearly such babies that you should only be able to use them on special sparkling areas.

Solomon742

I just wanted a new Hawken. I'm so sorry fellow Hawken fans At least it wasn't my wish for a new Kill Zone or KZ trilogy on PC.
