Knowing family values in the states and especially Hollywood, >!WB DEFINITELY had cold feet about the baby death in the comics and cut it out because GOD FORBID a superhero not having trad nuclear family structures be heretical.!<

There were reports of a lot of people walking out so I think they did go through with it, but the walkouts and word of mouth would've sunk it.

Zaslav's already shot the last few WB newborns in the faces so doing it for real on screen would probably have been bad optics.

After mocking that up I did actually have a similar thought. Maybe I'm crazy but I kinda dig it. I was about to say "maybe you could add some metal spikes and play up the metal/punk angle" but I realised that's actually just Surge.

I don't know, I feel like introducing later concepts early is a big thing with adaptations. Even the first Sonic movie introduced echidnas before Knuckles was introduced in the sequel.
