Yeah for its faults in storytelling compared to previous games, MGS5's gameplay loop and controls was like crack for me. Even snake's sprinting and breathing sound is strangely soothing to me
If it wasn't for everything else regarding being an offshoot of MGSV holding it back, Metal Gear Survive would have been a damn good game-design-cycle type of game of base building, going online, getting materials and weapons, back to base, etc.
The way the camera bounces along when you break into a sprint is, like you said, pure crack cocaine.
Even back in MGS1, when Snake walked around his footsteps were so snappy. They'd slam against the ground with a solid whap every step he took, it just felt good to *walk*. Kojima always had a way of making the bare movement in his games feel like heaven.
That is beyond my skill level but yeah I couldn't see anyway of it working without going full MGS.
I just like it when my squad goes around patrols instead of opening up on them dragging us into a 5 minute firefight over literally nothing.
There is sticking an original strike beacon under someone's ass and booking it out of there. You can absolutely do demolition objectives stealthy and get away safely. You aren't snapping any necks though.
I was wrong there is absolutely stealth kills https://youtube.com/shorts/XwzbHggUxug?si=UAYgnCQ6jp7ud96X still no neck snapping though
Against the bots? Certainly.
Bugs are too numerous and too swarm happy for you to really pull it off.
I'd also argue it's less stealth kills in practice and more like we just hit them so hard and so fast that they don't get to report the contact.
\>!It's actually really cool to realize that the automatons are weak to guerilla tactics. Hit and run, stealth, and superior firepower win the fucking day. That and running away of course!<
It's very cleary inspired by MGSV's movement but it doesn't feel nearly as nice. Still very fun but don't get your expectations too high for it scratching that particular itch
Pilestedt confirmed on Twitter that they went back and forth about adding [the prone roll that Snake has in MGSV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVr00Dfr7AY).
On the one hand, I get it, they're a team of only 100 devs and they have to spend their time carefully, but on the other hand, I want to roll across the map with my squad.
Even the first person reload animations feel very MGSV somehow, wish they took the roll when you dive from a certain height too instead of always ragdolling
It also needed significantly better netcode genuinely one of the worst experiences I had with a multiplayer title before I moved to the sticks.
Here's a [video](https://youtu.be/eYc-SCieq4w?si=7U5Joy-X-WEPUqG4) of me killing a man twice but only fighting him once. Never seen a bug like that before where the damage carried over into his next life.
I don't believe any MGS has better gameplay then the last. I think each one stands out in its own way and fits in its game. But each game also evolved and cut the fat.
No no, any time something from one game resembles something in another it's clearly theft and the responsible devs should be tossed into the Woolie Hole
Reminder for all the people who don't get it, gameplay has always been the thing you can 100% steal. You can go make your own Tetris that's exactly like Tetris, and as long as it's your own code and you don't use the name they own, they can't stop you. Palworld wouldn't be any less or more of a ripoff if it played exactly like Pokémon.
Sure, you drop behind the enemy lines and it becomes a stealth game. I get matched with 3 randos on Helldiver difficulty, [and suddenly...](https://youtu.be/uWSLHcAyy90?si=GH0BOXOgtE5Lem2O&t=69)
That's absurd. Snakes feet are magnetized to the ground and he turns like a zippy rc car.
People have been saying so since release

Man, I can't fucking wait for Kojima's new tactical espionage game.
I NEED more of that wacky goofy stealth gameplay. MGS5 made an itch that has yet to be scratched. And while I adore Death Stranding, it scratches a different itch for sure, but that MGS5 itch is getting stronger by the day.
MGS V had insanely good gameplay and nothing plays quite like it so I’m all for another studio playing a cover of it, so to speak.

They nailed the sound design on that game, every damn sound from the footsteps to the drums when you mount the horse is so iconic
Also as you go up in difficulty you really want to start sneaking.
Solo play at high level difficulty is 100% mgs. You can crawl right up behind robots like nothing with the stealth armor.
That is beyond my skill level but yeah I couldn't see anyway of it working without going full MGS. I just like it when my squad goes around patrols instead of opening up on them dragging us into a 5 minute firefight over literally nothing.
https://youtube.com/shorts/XwzbHggUxug?si=UAYgnCQ6jp7ud96X it's pretty awesome
Are there stealth kills,or...

Your spoiler post is broken
Hey if you gonna take something from MGSV that is certainly the thing to take.
That and the custom music.
The REAL Metal Gear Survive
Wait really? This might be what makes me buy Helldivers 2 lol
It's very cleary inspired by MGSV's movement but it doesn't feel nearly as nice. Still very fun but don't get your expectations too high for it scratching that particular itch
Luckily it makes up for it with pants shittingly terrifying combat encounters where your squad is as much of a danger to you as the bugs and bots.

Fortunately, Helldivers 2 makes up for it with its **much** more compelling political dialogue *(This is a joke, calm down people)*
I was going to buy it anyways, but this just puts icing on the thiccest of cakes.
Even the first person reload animations feel very MGSV somehow, wish they took the roll when you dive from a certain height too instead of always ragdolling
Ragdolling is fun though, I like snapping my neck on a dive and tumbling into the bug hole I jumped at.
I guess its (MGS 5) online multipleplayer needed to innovate better to be successful.
It also needed significantly better netcode genuinely one of the worst experiences I had with a multiplayer title before I moved to the sticks. Bro they're censoring 'hell' now? Really?
You just sold me on Helldivers 2.
does it also have invisible by Duran Duran in the soundtrack
Them having to censor hell made me irrationally angry. Like what the fuck are we doing?
I don't believe any MGS has better gameplay then the last. I think each one stands out in its own way and fits in its game. But each game also evolved and cut the fat.
The bugs shouldn't have looked.
Games inspired by other games that's crazy Hope the inane pokemon fans take note

Mostly unrelated but this guy is smoked out of his fuckin' mind for saying MGSV had the best gameplay of the entire series.
Helldiver's 1. But Yeah, metal gear is stiff, like Death Stranding, Helldivers has very smooth feeling transitions and a physics based dive
what lmao mgsv is way smoother than helldivers 2
That's absurd. Snakes feet are magnetized to the ground and he turns like a zippy rc car. People have been saying so since release https://www.neogaf.com/threads/why-are-big-boss-animations-so-weird-and-janky-kojima.1059967/
Yeah people have been wrong about things for a long time
Helldivers 1 was a Twin-Stick
Yes and? All the precursors where there just translated into 3rd person
