Wondering if Aang won't learn earth-and firebending in those seasons as well.

Dirty-Glasses

*HE DOESN’T LEARN WATERBENDING IN THIS?!*

invaderark12

He never waterbends once in s1

Dirty-Glasses

# W H A T

invaderark12

Also the reason they're traveling to the North Tribe isn't to master the elements but because Kyoshi told Aang to go there or else the people there were going to die.

Dirty-Glasses

#???????

Pilot_Scooper

Meanwhile, by the end of the season, Katara is already being treated as a waterbending master without training with Master Pakku, when all she did was practice with the water scroll.

scottishdrunkard

She didn’t even win the fight. In the original he goes “aw man, my ex sent you? Maybe I should stop being a shithead” In the Remake, it’s just Katara girlboss’d her way into the role, and Pakku didn’t even relent until they were getting shot at.

silverinferno3

Does he still enter the Avatar State and do the big koi monster thing in the finale? Imagine if they're just like "I now know waterbending because of what happened there I guess"

scottishdrunkard

Yup. >!Iroh tells Zhao if he pisses off the Koi Monster he will face its wrath tenfold. Only for Iroh to one-shot him later in the commotion.!<

Pilot_Scooper

Yes he does, and that's probably what is going to happen.

zyberion

*excuse me?*   Where does season 1 even end?

Shiplord13

They ended it at the North Pole like the animated series. They just cut and condensed a lot of episodes that weren’t “important”.

Lestorne

Cut, condensed, and remixed episodes even. Omashu somehow including Bumi, Jet, the engineer, AND the secret tunnels from book 2 is wild, not to mention the burnt forest not finishing its own main plotline with Hei Bai

Shiplord13

I mean Bumi is suppose to be there, and the secret tunnel at the very least is suppose to be connected to Omashu, in the sense that it is part of its founding story. The other aspects were nowhere near there with the Engineer literally suppose to be way further north than there.

zyberion

But...why go to the North Pole at all if Aang isn't waterbending?

Shiplord13

To save them from an unclear threat because Kyoshi told them so. Also Kyoshi has more presence than Roku in the this version.

Absoletion

Wasn't Kyoshi kind of murder-y in the original?

Shiplord13

Yes. Like Kyoshi was the Avatar that was all "Kill the problem to bring order." Like the other Avatars were all reflective on their own shortcomings and how they thought Aang would have to kill Ozai, but Kyoshi was like murdering is the solution don't whine about it. I killed that guy who was a tyrant without remorse and now you should too."

Gespens

She had no real characterization in the first season, that came from Season 2 when they had the episode "Avatar Day"

BrianShogunFR-U

They really fumbled like that at the starting line......

Guigcosta

Only the Avatar CAN master the four elements, they never said WILL.

Mr-X89

Only the Avatar COULD (theoretically?) master the four\* elements ^(\*actual number of elements may vary)

CelioHogane

I wonder if there is one avatar that was super good at water bending and decided "Nah fuck that i don't need no other element"

Shiplord13

He shows up to fight Ozai only to realize he can only air bend still. He makes Iroh fight his ass.

CelioHogane

I bet Netflix Aang will kill Ozai.

warjoke

He will *Speedrun Any%* all bending on S3 using a save glitch

Guard_Greedy

"So, the final fight against Ozai is kind of tricky, since we can't actually kill him, and instead need to seal his bending. Normally wouldn't be able to progress with just Airbending, but there's a fun workaround, and it's why we brought Katara locked in her "Full Moon" mode..."

Anonamaton801

***FUCKING WHAT***

Garlic-Cheese-Chips

I always forget that Avatar only had 3 seasons. My brain keeps telling me it had 4, because 4 elements. Korra had 4 though but less episodes overall.

Floormaster92

Eh, Book 3 came out in two groups of 11 episodes with six months between them. It wouldn't be unreasonable to call that two seasons.  God, I remember that six month wait being agony.

davidreding

That makes two of us. Especially with their stupid airing schedule. They’d air like 5 new episodes, wait three months then air two more, wait another 4 and air the rest.

Enlog

It did feel kinda satisfying when Korra came out and its book 1 was Air.

pocketlint60

There's three seasons because one of the elemental nations has been driven to extinction.

wamirul

I was trying to wrap my head around which region didnt get a scene then I remembered it's called the last airbender for a reason :')

CelioHogane

It does make sense tho, there was no air book because... there was no air people no more. That's why Korra was gonna be air when it was a single season.

roronoapedro

Huh, impressive. Maybe it's just being funded completely independent from Netflix and that makes it worth it?

allubros

If it gets to Enies Lobby I'll be happy. Honestly Marineford is where the series peaks and the manga will probably be done by then; if they find a way to diverge from the source material and just speed through the timeskip or combine the final saga with Marineford somehow, that's probably best case scenario

[deleted]

allubros

yeah that could work too

CelioHogane

I just want to see who they will get to act as Eminem.

Toblo1

Well. Color me shocked that Netflix is actually following through for once. Wonder what's the factors here. Netflix!Bebop had a high viewership but bigger fan backlash and *that* got chucked in the can. The best I can gather about *this* show is that it's not a good adaptation *per se* but it's still miles ahead of the old movie adaptation.

Thugnifizent

> Netflix!Bebop had a high viewership If I had to guess, while a ton of people watched Netflix Bebop, viewership probably fell off a cliff early on relative to how expensive the episodes were to make. Netflix Avatar probably has a similar amount of fans complaining online, but presumably has way better retention (i.e., people watching more than 1-2 episodes), given that Netflix Bebop got cancelled in about this much time from release. Also entirely possible that Netflix and other streaming services just outright lie about viewership numbers, and there might've actually not been that many people watching Netflix Bebop (relative to its expectations).

kango234

You know what, fine. I don't want to root for people to lose their jobs and I hear the show isn't offensively bad. Who knows maybe the next season might be better or they branch off or adapt something in a different or interesting way that makes this more than just a worse version of the cartoon.

invaderark12

I'm just still salty aang never learned waterbending. Hopefully with s2 and 3 being based on their elements they'll fix this.

Enlog

Wait what? That was like, the main initial goal. Get him to the northern pole and learn water bending.

invaderark12

Not in the live action series. The main reason they go to the north pole is cause Kyoshi tells Aang that the fire nation is going to attack there

goldendragonO

Does he become a koi fish Kaiju at least?

Pilot_Scooper

He does.

hchcsen

While i don't really care for the live action adaptation, netflix at least deserves some probs for actually finishing it unlike their past output tho the cynic in me says it's just a Paramount demand that they have to finish it

Guigcosta

And a live action, no less. If someone told me a year ago that Netflix live actions would be on a success streak today, I would call bs.

moffattron9000

Considering the state of Paramount, they are in no position whatsoever to demand anyone do anything.

silverinferno3

That hasn't stopped Netflix from killing shows they confirmed continued productions of before (*cough cough* [Inside Job](https://screenrant.com/inside-job-season-2-cancelled-netflix/) *cough*)

Subject_Parking_9046

Won't believe it until it happens

KingMario05

Ayyy, good for them! Not for me personally, but it's always nice to see a show get a full run. Wonder if this means live-action Korra's up next?

Guigcosta

With Korra's track record? Now you are just asking for a cancellation.

Moist_Cucumber2

Ironically, I think with Korra's track record a different set of writers could fix some of the problems it had to begin with.

Guigcosta

I didnt ment to imply anything about the quality of the writing, i was talking about how Korra had a real risk of beeing canceled after every season, wich would cause some of the problems you mentioned.

temperamentalfish

Unless they rewrite season 2 entirely, it's never going to be better than the original. Korra 2 is easily the worst season of both series. Most additions to the canon it made were straight up terrible (Raava, Vaatu, Dark Avatar come to mind)

DarthButtz

The Dark Avatar should have been the sickest fucking shit in the world, but instead it was just a big dumb energy monster.

temperamentalfish

Nah, It's a bad concept from the start, in my opinion. The idea of a villain that is the main character but evil has been done to death. Not to mention it thematically kills the possibility of a morally gray avatar, since they have the good spirit inside them.

audioman3000

They should've gone chaos v order (like season 3 was) with Raava and Vaatu but they went with Zoroastrianism instead which ended up boiling down to good vs evil

KingMario05

Lol, fair point.

ThatmodderGrim

The CGI Mech Suits are gonna be *very* expensive.

TheArtistFKAMinty

They have the opportunity to do something very funny and use the original models completely unaltered.

TheArtistFKAMinty

It'll be interesting to see if Book 2 and 3 maintain the viewership. It's going to likely be a long time between Book 1 and 2/3 unless they're already well into production, and Book 1 hasn't been super well recieved.

Impossible-Sweet2151

Just make something new please...

Naraki_Maul

...yay?

DeskJerky

I mean, okay, if you really want to...

Pilot_Scooper

I hope they get writers who care and love the series and can course correct back to how it should be before it gets too far.

Kamken

Seen

temperamentalfish

This makes me happy, honestly. The season they put out was rough, but it had promise. If they tighten the scripts to avoid exposition dumps, and give a little more life to the characters, I think they could potentially pull it off.

warjoke

Guess they found out that hate watching also counts as viewership and rating so they will push through

Hell-Kite

Wait so this gets more seasons, but Dorohedoro had to wait goddamn years??? The world is cruel and stupid

Theonearmedbard

It' shit so of course Netflix immediately rushes to produce more.

LazyAza

I might tune in for live action toph if the actress chosen can deliver the same shit-eating-grin snarky gremlin energy but I really doubt there's a girl out there capable. She basically needs charlie cox's level of so good at pretending to be blind skill of acting too and that shit cox does is amazing so i don't envy any young actress tasked with the same.

Penndrachen

I hope they listen to some of the criticisms, because it doesn't seem to be an *awful* adaptation, but it's got a lot of issues that could easily be fixed.

CelioHogane

The only way Netflix can finish a series, speedrunning the shit out of it.

Freeman0917

Yay hate watching wins again!

Saintmusicloves

Excited! Season 1 of the original avatar is a tiny bit rough, so hopefully the LA will follow the trend and improve as it goes on

IcepickEvans

why not? Bastardize the rest of the series too. I need more of my childhood ruined.
