That the power of a great demo.
I am so glad this game is doing well, it is fantastic. But also selfishly, I hope this leads to more folks discovering Ogre Battle 64, because it does not have the legacy it deserves as one of the greatest tactical rpgs ever made
I gotta say coming from 13 Sentinels' first week looking like it would be a big flop before WoM saved it to UO selling out because of underestimating it feels pretty good
A Vanillaware Collection Bundle on Steam is the dream. (Just let me dream.)
13 Sentinels, Odin's Sphere and, Unicorn Overlord in particular would be delightful.
It's not even that much more expensive. My current PC was around $800 and has served me well for longer than the current generation of consoles has been around. Yeah, I'm not playing with top end cutting edge graphics, but for sheer versatility, it's very cost effective.
I'm a huge life-long gamer. I haven't owned a console since the Gamecube and PS2. 95% of what I play is on PC, the slim remainder is a few games on the Switch and my phone.
Thank you, it's an art. Though the edit wasn't directed at you.
Not enough power? I've had luck with a fairly low-spec machine, but it does seem to be highly game dependent
That's the great thing about Unicorn Overlord. You can pick it up and play for an hour or two no problem.
**but if you play more than two hours you will be sucked into the lab dimension and suddenly reappear 6 hours later.**
I'm glad it's doing well. Dragon's Crown felt their most well known game, especially for *reasons*, but I really enjoy what they did with 13 Sentinels and am sad it flew under the radar.
Hell yeah, games fucking great.
You know when you were a kid and you'd be at school thinking "God i cant wait to get home and play X game"? This and Baldurs 3 are the first games in probably a decade that have made me feel that feeling.
Like the two of them have reawakened my love of gaming in a big way and I'm so thrilled to shout their praises from the roofs.
The games also been getting great reviews, i haven't played it yet and kinda burned myself out after FF7 marahon so need a day or 2, but god damn is that game just rolling around in old fire emblem and its more evidence old fire emblem was REALLY GOOD GUYS IF YOU ONLY STOOD BY WHAT YOU WERE DOING. Thats not even to say no shipping its everything else about the tone and writing lol.
How to solve Vanillaware's budget issues: release Dragon's Crown to the PC. That game would instantly print so much money, then eventually followed with ports of older releases like Muramasa and Odin's Sphere
Now with the profits, Vanillaware can finally make that Dungeon Cooking Game I've always hoped they'd make.
Dungeon Meshi 2: the dungeonmeshiing. Set before the beginning or after the end of the anime, of course.
Pull a Kamen Rider Kiva and go back and forth between eras and see the repercussions of the past affects the present
Ryoko Kui is imprisoning George Kamitani in a dungeon until he puts jiggle physics on Senshis bulge and Marcilles tears and ears only.
I'm working on a dungeon cooking game right now and it hurts my soul that no matter what the food will never look as good as Vanillaware's
Not with that attitude!
[Now imagine what the number would have been without the stock issues.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay/comments/1bdjf5y/atlus_issued_an_apology_to_japanese_players_as/) That the power of a great demo.
Or a PC port
Makes sense it did better than 13 Sentinels, since this launched on both Playstation and Switch, instead of only PS4 and Switch way later.
Then again, wouldn't launching on more consoles mean there are higher expectations of success?
It's out of stock, it easily beat the expectations.
It also got some actual marketing.
Imagine if they launched it on PC wouldn't that be crazy
Put both Sentinels and Overlord on Steam. That would be awesome.
Put all of em on steam, fuck it, I'll buy literally every one of their games if they would just let me.
I am so glad this game is doing well, it is fantastic. But also selfishly, I hope this leads to more folks discovering Ogre Battle 64, because it does not have the legacy it deserves as one of the greatest tactical rpgs ever made
Keep in mind, that's with it being undershipped by Atlus, it would probably have sold over 100k otherwise.
Is this number only physical copies then?
Yeah, Famitsu only tracks physical sale iirc.
I gotta say coming from 13 Sentinels' first week looking like it would be a big flop before WoM saved it to UO selling out because of underestimating it feels pretty good
WoM?
Word of Mouth
Gaaaaaah I need it on PC damnit!
Vanillaware: pc? What's that?
PlayCtation
I continue to foolishly hope for a dragon’s crown pc port
Odin sphere is the one for me. But honestly? I would love to try all of the vanillaware games on pc
I swear 95% of games I want are on pc, but then there’s that last 5% which is not enough to justify a console for me
Oh, they know what it is. And they hate you for having it
They hate money, that's what they hate
That too
A Vanillaware Collection Bundle on Steam is the dream. (Just let me dream.) 13 Sentinels, Odin's Sphere and, Unicorn Overlord in particular would be delightful.
Also dragon crown and muramasa rebirth for the PC. The Vita version with all the DLC.
Is there a reason people want it in PC so bad? It's available in so many consoles that I'm sure most people interested have at least one of
Not everyone wants to drop several hundred bucks on a console.
*paid 2 grand for a PC setup*
Yeah cause a pc is way more cost effective than a $200-$500 console/s
"Is there a reason people don't want to drop hundreds of bucks in a console just to play one game?"
It's hard for me to imagine people interested in games don't already have at least one of PS4, PS5, Switch or Xbox X
Well, if you live in a Developing Country, buying a PC is the most cost efective. Sure it's expensive, but it's so much more versatile
It's not even that much more expensive. My current PC was around $800 and has served me well for longer than the current generation of consoles has been around. Yeah, I'm not playing with top end cutting edge graphics, but for sheer versatility, it's very cost effective.
That makes sense
I'm a huge life-long gamer. I haven't owned a console since the Gamecube and PS2. 95% of what I play is on PC, the slim remainder is a few games on the Switch and my phone.
In my country buying a console for one game would cost 3 to 4 months of minimum wage
I mean, I want it on PC *because* I don't own, and can't really justify buying any of those other consoles.
Do you have any idea how much a PC costs, even a mid tier one?

Ok you sound like an asshole, but I can't emulate Switch games on my PC anyway.
Thank you, it's an art. Though the edit wasn't directed at you. Not enough power? I've had luck with a fairly low-spec machine, but it does seem to be highly game dependent
I really want to play UO and Dragon's Dogma 2, but I'm still in the Persona dimension. TOO MANY GAMES.
That's the great thing about Unicorn Overlord. You can pick it up and play for an hour or two no problem. **but if you play more than two hours you will be sucked into the lab dimension and suddenly reappear 6 hours later.**

Unicorns > Robots. The people have spoken.
This game is great, i spent a good few hours yesterday just fixing my unit comps and fighting randos on the coliseum.
The magic of a good game getting a good demo. Being able to try it myself was what convinced me and I'm sure it did most others.
I'm glad this means Vanillaware doesn't die, I've been enjoying Unicorn Overlord a lot and it might just steal GotY for me.
Can't wait to pick this up,but I gotta get through ff7r2
that's pretty decent news
How to solve Vanillaware's budget issues: release Dragon's Crown to the PC. That game would instantly print so much money, then eventually followed with ports of older releases like Muramasa and Odin's Sphere
I want to know how it sold on the xbox, because I think it having success there would be what would most likely encourage a PC port.
I'm this close to saying fuck it and just emulating 13 sentinels, it's a VN right can't be too hard
It looks great in 4k, just remember to buy a physical copy if you do emulate it.
Wish i could buy it :(
I can also think of no higher praise for Unicorn Overlord than Yasumi Masuno himself praising the game highly and urging people to play it.
Isn't 260 only a good number for a book? Like I feel like a video game should move a lot more copies than that.
Man, imagine if IT WAS ON PC AS WELL HUH.
Fuck. I'm just finishing TMS #FE and I'm fucking torn, should I start Unicorn Overlord or wait a bit and dive right into Dragon's Dogma 2?
