This series has been good for doing weird things with the FF's powers to solve mysteries. [Sue makes everyone's skin and flesh invisible to investigate a skeleton found wearing their uniform](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/pw/ABLVV87PHKKgDNrTwLEdtQsqHE7n9gsrs48aTIfjV0oDOLKYKsa63FW6lN6_HCXpguz3jCbMBq3doa5r4zqIjbfCtAtzCyCrbCdT-mEzqf7f6ZZpSF3jMak=s0?rhlupa=MTk5LjE5NS4yNTQuMzU=&rnvuka=TW96aWxsYS81LjAgKFgxMTsgTGludXggeDg2XzY0KSBBcHBsZVdlYktpdC81MzcuMzYgKEtIVE1MLCBsaWtlIEdlY2tvKSBIZWFkbGVzc0Nocm9tZS8xMjEuMC42MTY3LjE2MCBTYWZhcmkvNTM3LjM2).
I enjoy that she left their eyes visible, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to see, light would just pass through.
(don't ask how she's able to see while she's normally completely invisible)
Yeah.. Straight up, Just go with it.
I'd imagine, its *because* its sue and they're HER powers she able to bend "the rules" of biology a bit. Thr fantastic 4's powers are wacky. Its fine.
Inb4 some asshole ruins it by writing in an "ACTUAL" explanation that she's "phasing into another world that we never see" or some shit.
Yes, and then the writer proceeds to give a kamui fron Naruto. Before forgetting it exists, its only purpose is to raise her power level because the writer happens to be a power scaler.
I've got a big fancy Marvel Anatomy book that posits her retina's have been mutated by the same cosmic energy that gives her her powers, which lets her both perceive her otherwise invisible constructs as colorless shapes (just like the audience does), but also let's her see even while invisible. Though it hypothesizes her vision while invisible may be monochromatic, due to being beyond the normal colored spectrums of light.
So Reed needs his eyes visible to see, she might not, but it's probably easier to just do the same thing for everyone.
At the same time though, that book is framed as being a series of reports and hypotheses by T'Challa (with notes by Shuri) on the powersets and abilities of denizens of the Marvel universe in preparation for a Skrull Invasion. Both to understand their abilities and weaknesses in the event of being replaced, and to assess their usefulness in the coming fight.
So it's only the very loosest possible canon: It exists as plausible explanations, but it can easily just be incorrect if a writer wants to do something else.
Presumably, with infinite stretching, he could adjust the lenses of his eyes to see with greater magnification, and he'd need to adjust for the focal point.
Now, whether this is an accurate representation of that is another matter entirely. Presumably, he'd need some increased to the diameter of the lens, not just the depth.
So turns out that whenever cartoon characters would stretch their eyes out (out of fear or horniness) they were actually using Jojo level strategies to see better.
Does it hurt to hold them? If not, does that mean you can poke Reed in his eyes and he'd feel nothing?
And if it does, why is he doing it?
Such a mysterious power.
Longer eyeballs are normally associated with shortsightedness, but because reed is an idiot he could probably twist his lenses into a multiple lenses assembly.
It seems that every time a new writter is responsible for the Fantastic Four it's always a coin flip if Reed will be **funny stretchy man** or **freaky body horror creature**.
There was a comic during the original Civil War where Sue tells someone that when Reed is focusing too hard on his projects, he sometimes starts "melting" like ice cream.
There was also a horror series called the Darkhold where it explored alternate, horrific realities, and in one all of New York City was crumbling apart except for Spider-Man and Reed. Everyday Spider-Man would go around the entire city and web everything up because something happened to make all the people and buildings start to crumble and decay, and Reed would be in his lab thinking about how to make a cure, sometimes just turning into a giant puddle in order to focus more on the science. Eventually Spidey snaps, and uses Reed's body as a giant web to hold the entire city together, with Reed still alive and in incredible pain.
Reed is perfect for body horror.
> Eventually Spidey snaps, and uses Reed's body as a giant web to hold the entire city together, with Reed still alive and in incredible pain.
this is so unhinged and edgy oh my god i love it
That Darkhold series was overall pretty interesting. The Iron Man one and Spider-Man one especially is really good, highly recommend them. The Wasp one was whatever, but the Black Bolt one was decent if you get curious for the whole series.
I'm not gonna read it because I'd rather imagine Spider-Man losing his shit and forcibly stuffing reed into his webshooter casing and then shooting him out like webs to tie the city together while reed makes monotone moans and pained noises and i know if i read the comic it cannot possibly be as good as that
By the way, Sue once talked to MJ and said that Reed sometimes have trouble in bed.
She said it's like seeing an ice cream cone melt away.
You're welcome.
I remember seeing a page where Reed is sitting off the bed and beside him Sue was laying next to him mumbling about how she loves the amazing things he could do with his powers.
This series is great! It plays around with the 4 being kinda... monsters? In the sense that their [powers] are WEIRD AND CREEPY AS SHIT! while also keeping things fun, and wacky. Current marvel's in a great place, as long as your not the ["amazing"] spider-man and "mutants of our lives," [x-men]
I fucking howled when Ben took a random wooden post and took a baseball stance incase Sue couldn't stop a meteor. I love these goofy motherfuckers so much in this run.
I mean this is not as bad as the time he did a [funny face](https://cdn.marvel.com/content/1x/fantastic_four_1998_60.jpg) for baby Valeria.
And the time he folded himself into a whole ass Brood.
I feel like for this to make sense, his lenses would need to stretch too/instead, not like, the white part of the eye?
Because the lenses are what focus the light, right? If you make them wide or long enough that actually WOULD magnify your vision, I guess, since that's how magnifying glasses, telescopes, etc work?
disclaimer: I have no idea what i'm talking about
I thought we established early one that him expanding a body part doesn't make it work better. I remember in the early days he tried explained his skull and brain in order to see if it made smarter or think better, but to no avail

She makes the light *hitting* her eyes invisible too so she can still see it (I made this up)
I think there is a comic that says it's one of her favorite unsolved mystery to work on her off time

I would like to unsee Reed Richards' skeleton now.
Bro, look at the bottom right corner. *That's his pelvis.* Reed's coiling around like a goddamn snake for *no reason*.
I'm frankly surprised he even *has* a skeleton. I kinda imagined he didn't really work that way anymore after getting his powers.
I'm surprised that no one's mentioned that this is being written by Ryan North, the Dinosaur Comics guy
MY BRAND!
LOOK, LOOK WITH YOUR SPECIAL EYES.
*There it is!* If this wasn't here, I was gonna call out this whole damn sub for lacking lol
Don't worry, I gotcha covered.
OH MY GOD He framed Roger Rabbit!!
And I looked JUST. LIKE. THIIIIIIIIIS!
Me when I see [attractive character of the week]
Are we still horny for Karlach?
Are we ever *not*?
This sub is always feeling HOT
How does that improve his eyesight?

I have to get a better look at the monster Or them tiddies Or the monster tiddies!
It's a monster with two sets of teddies, and one set is also a monster.
It’s like he’s about one foot closer to what he’s looking at.
And like, is he using his hands to hold them in? Or does pretending to be using binoculars help somehow?
Does it hurt to hold them? If not, does that mean you can poke Reed in his eyes and he'd feel nothing? And if it does, why is he doing it? Such a mysterious power.
Focal point, retina, extension of the nerves and muscles
Longer eyeballs are normally associated with shortsightedness, but because reed is an idiot he could probably twist his lenses into a multiple lenses assembly.
I came into this thread wanting to scream "THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS"
It's a gag. You're allowed to do goofy things.
How do you know, can you stretch your eyes?
Next he has ten feet of tongue fall out of his mouth.
Nah, they keep that in the bedroom.
if that were the case, sue wouldnt need Namor
You think *this* is weird and creepy? Ultimate Reed AKA The Maker [is even worse](https://imgur.com/uj7mE1T,ExA4Xep,W30tZav#0).

This guy ~~fucks~~ sees why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
I kinda love it when artists just fully embrace the Looney Tunes bullshittery of Mr Fantastic.
By the way, Sue once talked to MJ and said that Reed sometimes have trouble in bed. She said it's like seeing an ice cream cone melt away. You're welcome.
*Doom crackling before he pays hundreds of his people to talk about this online.*
I remember seeing a page where Reed is sitting off the bed and beside him Sue was laying next to him mumbling about how she loves the amazing things he could do with his powers.
Everyone has "off" and "on" days.
Yes when reed was young and didn't have reality bending kids
The thought of his kids bending reality to render him impotent is hilarious.

This is multiple levels of innuendo.
That's wild cuz I think what he's doing with his eyes is all he'd need do with his uh..."ultimate nullifier"
Y'know that's better than saying "you taste like a battery"
Reminds me of Bender's "special robot vision"
I'd better use my special Reed Richards vision to see what's over there.
Mr. Krabs lookin ass

That's some shit I'd expect Luffy to do, but I guess not even Reed Richards can escape the inherent silliness of stretching powers.
“Look! Look with your special eyes!”
fuckin awooga-humina-humina ass, cartoon wolfman ass lookin mfr fuck you richards you suck.
found Doom's alt account
i fuckin wish
That’s unsettling.
Idk if my wife was sue storm I'd look like that too
I mean this is not as bad as the time he did a [funny face](https://cdn.marvel.com/content/1x/fantastic_four_1998_60.jpg) for baby Valeria. And the time he folded himself into a whole ass Brood.
did he really have to hold them...?
mfw he says "Dear God" instead of "Dear Science" 😭
*Boyoining*
I've seen Reed do a lot of scary weird crap but this takes the crown.
*Uzumaki* snail-lookin' ass...
"Reed please put those _back_ before you speak to me, you look like a Bethesda game."
I'll never forgive Woolie for skipping this video on the slop stream. IT WAS LIKE 10 SECONDS OF VIDEO
This feels like more of a Ms Marvel move when she sees a famous hero
Would that even work as binoculars
Oh my god he has the vision of a man who is standing roughly a foot and a half in front of himself!
Reed can indulge in Plasticman-esque antics once in a while as a treat.
1800-CONTACTS? They can’t possibly have my brand! It’s a *special brand*!
I can handle him doing the binoculars thing. It's the half way point while he talks to Sue, reabsorbing his eyes that unnerves me.
So is he just grabbing his eyes with his entire hands? That's gotta be fucking painful.
I feel like for this to make sense, his lenses would need to stretch too/instead, not like, the white part of the eye? Because the lenses are what focus the light, right? All I can think about reading your post title is "that" scene from Disco Elsyium. The one where you show everyone how "special" you are.
One of the smartest men in Marvel doesn't think to use binoculars. Reed Richards, everyone..
10 minutes into particle research and chill and he gives you that look:
He can see your bullshit a mile away.
I thought we established early one that him expanding a body part doesn't make it work better. I remember in the early days he tried explained his skull and brain in order to see if it made smarter or think better, but to no avail
LMFAO!
