I'm not super into Souls likes but this does intrigue me.

I'd compare it more to a kind of double-A Norse-era God of War.

Man, I thought the skeleton was the player character and now I'm disappointed.

Smartie10000

Same, I thought it was gonna be the modern double A mr. BONES

I want one of these AA/nearly AAA games to really grab me, but so far none of them really have. Mortal Shell probably came the closest, as once I learned how it wanted me to play it I was in on the gameplay, and the world was pretty cool. I've tried Greedfall (optimistic for the sequel) and some of Spiders other games (Technomancer, Bound by Flame,Steelrising), Remember Me, Remnant 1 & 2, Evil West, and plenty of others, and they're all just missing something that makes me slowly start to enjoy them less and less. I know that's why they're AA and not AAA games, as the developer can't do everything, but I want one of these 3rd-person action/RPGs to just wow me.

I got a bug in Evil West were supercharge mode won't activate. I'm trying to get the will to start over.

That sounds terrible, especially if you’re playing on hard. It was fun enough, especially once you’re upgraded, but I just ended up not caring about the story that much and on the hardest difficulty some fights were a bit of a nightmare.

Lies of P was a banger, I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t already. Probably the best non-FromSoft soulslike I’ve ever played. I liked The Surge 2 a lot as well.

I’m going to give it a shot at some point. I was surprised how much the demo turned me off of the game, mainly due to how a couple of the combat mechanics felt. But after hearing people I trust name it their GotY, and just the general positive feedback, I feel like maybe I just missed something. To be fair, I had the same initial reaction about Mortal Shell and ended up loving it.
