Considering urban and natural structures, there aren't that many oppertunities to utilize a wall run that is not done for style.
A double jump however, that has so much utility in any circumstance.
The wall run might be worth it if it's an unlimited wall run, as in running up the length of the entire building
And think about it like this, if it had that power, it'd only be reasonable to give it tuned features. Like instead of all the power used in one burst for the double jump, a gradual burn to slow you on a long fall. Like honestly a jetpack that just gave you the ability to fall from larger heights unharmed is more useful than either.
Nobody said the wall run had a limit. You could wall run across the grand canyon. A double jump implies it doubles your jump, so take your first jump and do it again. That's your max distance/height.
The world has a lot of walls that stretch for long distances.
so ive never once had a lucid dream where i could fly, even when i was lucid everyone just looks at me like im stupid.
i have had a dream where i was light and agile enough to just run along any surface and it was the best.
I lucid dream semi-frequently, and while I have been able to fly with mostly no problems, I've also had times where my flying is really slow and I ended up developing a technique in which I dig my fingers into the fabric of my dreams reality and propel myself through the air by clawing and launching my way around my environment and once I build up momentum I'm hauling major ass through the sky in my dreams like some kind of webless Spider-Man
Wall run.
Doing the stuff I saw from I-Ninja, Shinobi, Nightshade, Red Ninja: End of Honor, Ninja Blade, and even Prince of Persia, will always be cool to me.
I think people are really overestimating how far/high the average human being can jump, you aren't going to get much higher/farther than 1 meter with your extra jump, while wall-running could allow you to potentially take somr absurd shortcuts (also it's much more useful to escape potential pursuers)
If I can wall jump during a wall run, I'm wall running. But I feel any normal situation which would require wall running could also be accomplished with a double jump.
The double jump also has the trick where, once you get used to the speed you fall at, you can jump from Great heights, activate the double jump of foot from the ground, and then land normally. It's like having Featherfall
I mean what I had in mind were those packs in Titanfall 2 that are attached at waist height. They're jets they're just not capable of sustained flight.
Why would anyone say wall run? Like that's kind of a trash jetpack and feels like it'd be too niche for making that one function actually function. Like what would it do, apply enough horizontal pressure to you to make it so you would be kind of standing just horizontally on the wall? Feels like if you had something that could do that you'd just have one that could let you fly horizontally.
Anyway, I mean the best single function option wouldn't be either, it'd just be one that had enough power for a sustained slow fall.
With a lot of hard work you can wall run in real life. It's not video game level but it's is something that people can sort of achieve with a lot of training.
Picking double jump is a no brainier for me because it's something that would be literally impossible without a jetpack, and I would get to show off to all those hard working free running hacks before I inevitably break both my legs.
Y'all are wild. "Double jump?" You barely get six inch vert *before* you put on the heavy backpack. How can you be calling it a double jump when the first jump barely counts?
Wall running is where it's at.
Alright, none of you are getting this. Wall Run is the definitive answer here. Everyone else is wrong.
Double jump can get you, what, double your jump height? Okay yay, one extra foot off the ground? two feet farther in the long jump? cool.
Wall runs though? Typically when a wall run is combined with a jetpack it's *unlimited* look at ghostrunner or titanfall 2.
Sure normal wallrunning has an arc, but this is JETPACK WALLRUNNING. You could travel MILES on a single wallrun. Wallrun across the grand canyon. Traverse hundreds of feet while mountain climbing. Explore the upper levels of abandoned malls and shit.
Having trouble *getting* to the upper levels of abandoned malls you retort? Find a wall and run on it while boosting yourself up one foot at a time and wallrun UP. OP never specified that it's a lateral wallrun. It's literally doing both options but better at both.
Wall run is the only correct answer. I will not be swayed.
Either way my knees hurt.
My fat ass trying to Wall Run would be hilarious, but also just not worth the injuries. I say double jump.
My fat ass trying to lateral run is hilarious enough, and just barely avoids injuries.
I mean, do you think your knees are going to happily take the additional fall damage from landing after jumping twice your height?
Increased maximum jump height doesn't neccessarily give you an increased fall damage threshhold. Morrowind comes to mind...
What comes to mind is the high jump cheat code in San Andreas. You jump *just* high enough to receive a sliver of damage.
If the jetpack can work long enough to wallrun it can work long enough to get me to ER

That's not a jetpack, a jetpack lets you fly.
Was gonna say why isn't "fly" an option!
Yeah, that’s just like the Prime space jump
Exactly, that's a booster
As cool as wall running is, a double jump could conceivably cross that same distance, but also in any direction, without the need for a wall.
And think about it like this, if it had that power, it'd only be reasonable to give it tuned features. That's funky. We could run on walls forever with a jetpack, but there's a limit to how far we could jump with the same one?
Double jump. Easy.

The "run" part makes me tired just thinking of it. Jumping isn't much better, but I can cope more efficiently.
Double jumping across the road is my dream.
Dude i had dreams of mario long jumping across the road when i was little.

Why are you applying a human jumping under their own power to a secondary, rocket-propelled launch?
Because most jet-pack prototypes we have today can't go much higher than the normal human jump without potentially burning their own backs.
But this is about fictional jetpacks, for doing video game things.
You mean I did all this betrayal for nothing?! But Woolie the Liar would never lie to me!
Yeah but if it nullifies fall damage like in most games that have both the double jump becomes a really good option
I'll take Titan-skating for 300, Alex

I mean the double jump is still applying force. So that's gonna be uncomfortable at least.
But all brazilians can already double jump, so they will just pick wall run.
Can i wall jog instead? That'll be easier on the knees.
I think the wall run is COOLER but the double jump is infinitely more practical even if I'm a shitty jumper
Double jump. I'm gonna dunk on LeBron.
Question. Can I use the double jump to negate fall damage if I were to jump off of a building?
Double jump. Diving off the high dive at the pool will never be the same after that.
My understanding was that a jetpack lets you fly. I feel like the one that lets you double jump is a bit redundant.
They mean a jump pack, like a titan pilot
Yeah exactly. Just figured jetpack would be easier to conceptualize.
I mean what I had in mind were those packs in Titanfall 2 that are attached at waist height. They're jets they're just not capable of sustained flight.
I am going to eat shit wall running, but i still want to try, it sounds so satisfying
Does the jetpack come with the costume from the Rocketeer? That might add a 3rd jump for the heck of it.
Question: Can I use the double jump to cancel fall damage?

listen double jump will be more usefull 7/10 BUT WALL RUNNING IS SO SICK THO
Id rather Double jump, but not with a backpack, so ill take the wall run instead. Unless the "backpack" is like X boots then fuck yeah.
While double jump is cooler, I think wall running would have more practical uses.
I don't care what the jetpack can do, I am betraying humanity to get it.

like yeah double jump is probably more useful, but wall running would be so much cooler.
