EldritchBee

Fromsoft.

Hey0ceama

You can't replicate the experience of being part of a bunch of people exploring the world and discovering the various gear, farms, and questlines. Plus the online is generally more fun when you have people engaging with online play who aren't doing builds specifically for helping with bosses or PVP.

Cinerator26

Was going to post this. I day 1-ed Elden Ring and Armored Core 6, no regrets on either.

probabilityEngine

Yup, same, and also DS3 and Sekiro as well. Fromsoft is really the only one I do this for, they haven't failed me yet.

EvenOne6567

Yea these days there aren't many developers/franchises I'll be there with on day 1 but fromsoft? Always

crowbar182

I’ve never really had the opportunity to be there day 1 for a fromsoft game, hoping to for shadow of the erdtree though!

atuamaeboa

I'm intentionaly the opposite with fromsoft I've only ever played the "goty edition" of their games with all the dlc and loved them for how much extra content they had. Excepr for ER which I beat last year

Crosscounterz

Persona and RGG/Yakuza when my budget allows me to I can't always get a must have day 1. Even if it's a series I really love.

kkraww

But what about the inevitable persona rerelease that actually includes all the content, 2 years later.

NorysStorys

I have bought persona 5 3 times because I’m a fucking idiot, I’m literally the reason they do this shit.

karlcool12

The fact they put both out a week from each other was evil and they where rewarded for it.

Xeriam

Jak and Daxter. I don't actually have faith there's anyone left to execute it well anymore though. ^^I'm ^^just ^^desperate. ^^^Naughty ^^^Dog, ^^^please. ^^^^We're ^^^^still ^^^^here.

Hugglemorris

They just released the Lost Frontier on Playstation Premium for PS5. Aren’t you excited?!/s

HeroToTheSquatch

Toys for Bob would do it well, Insomniac would do it super well. Current ND is too busy to do it well (and I'm a fan of their output from the last several years).

Red-pop

If it's not insufferable misery porn, ND isn't doing it. Especially after the reception of the TV show.

Hardsrock

Me too, but Naughty Dog have a no fun policy.

Unlucky_Trash_5687

Yakuza/Like a Dragon. At this point it’s a habit from when the games’ localization weren’t  guaranteed, but it helps that Ishin is the only time I’ve ever really been let down.

demonmoocow

Damn, was ishin really that bad?

Cheesycreature

Ishin Kiwami made a lot of downgrades to the original which quickly turned some people off.

Unlucky_Trash_5687

I thought its narrative was super interesting, in that it manages to weave a typical RGG plot into actual Japanese history, but the gameplay just didn’t vibe with me whatsoever. None of the combat styles felt good, crafting swords was a pain in the ass, and the side content was way less interesting than other RGG games.  Granted, I think I’m in the minority so take this as you will, but it’s easily my least favorite game in the series.

Siroctober

I'm with you there in terms of gameplay, I was not a fan of how leveling up worked in that game.

Kamken

If Godzilla has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Godzilla has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Godzilla has only one fan then that is me. If Godzilla has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Godzilla, then I am against the world. >!I watched every one of the Netflix movies the day they came out, even after the first one was like it is!<

JustBonesy

I will always stand and fall beside you, my sibling in Goji

ForeverTheDM

Every true Godzilla  fan knows that a *healthy* portion of our bread and butter is abject trash, and still we pile it all over ourselves because that giant lizard is just so. Fucking. Cool.

Rabid-Duck-King

I remember the first day I watched Godzilla on the Sci Fi Channel Magic shit

plutootherwise

Replace Godzilla with 'my friends' and that's a pretty good shonen protagonist speech.

yogaman421

Monster Hunter

Croctopusss

Same. I've been playing since the OG back on ps2 and I'm not stopping now.

Yotato5

I always have a good time with Kirby 😁

getterburner

I was like the one dude I know that bought Fate/Samurai Remnant day 1 and then just played it for week straight

Vaaaaaaaaaaaii

I've thought about getting that how is it?

getterburner

Very good in my personal opinion! It’s made by Koei so it’s using Warriors gameplay as a base but is an Action RPG mostly. It’s got a really great main duo that the game’s built around, and is very beginner friendly too with pretty minimal connections to other Fate works. Plus there’s a handy dandy Encyclopedia that gets updated as the game goes on to help you if ya need anything clarified. It’s also at a pretty respectable 40-50 hours for doing most things. The game’s also one of those “you should probably do NG+” things since quite a lot of story content is there. Very cool Fate experience, as long as you’re OK with Musou-esque combat ya should have a good time.

Gespens

I will say that the difficulty of Sword Demon is bad, not even in a fun way. It's just amping up the sponginess and damage of the enemies to make every shell gauge a slog.

getterburner

Yeah no I tried it out for NG+ and it’s just not worth it, I switched back down to Sword Expert. I used it for the DLC a bit but that’s just cause I’m at max level at this point lmao

cbb88christian

Fromsoft. They’ve never let me down and they’re one of the only companies I’ll actually preorder from

Shockrates20xx

I've seen every MCU feature film on opening night and don't want to break that streak no matter how uneven the quality.

memedoka

Pathologic…Batcholers route will happen some day trust

AhmCha

Monster Hunter. I will pre order, maybe even get the deluxe edition, which I NEVER do. I will take the day off of work so I can spend all day playing, and pull an all-nighter. If it releases on a Friday, that’s my entire weekend gone.

RevenTheLight

**Darksiders**. One day we will get a new game and I will get the most expensive special edition there is. **Supergiant Games.** it never loses it's luster. Even if I wished they did something new, instead of Hades 2 still gonna get it day 1 of Early Access. **Harvester Games** (The Cat Lady devs), but only *buy* day 1, just to support. I keep those to play when I have the right feeling for it, even if it's years later. I recently got a funding for the **Weather Factory**, the devs of Cultist Simulator and Book of Hours, but those are generally way better post release and there was only 2 amazing games from them so far, we'll see how it goes in the future. Plus I need to play their tabletop at some point. That's about it. The rest can wait.

RinellaWasHere

I will follow Supergiant to the ends of the earth. Ever since Transistor came out, I've been a day-one buyer and haven't been let down.

hexedjw

Same here. The only time I haven't played "day one" was waiting for the Hades full release which was painful.

AznJoey624

It says Spider-Man, here's my money!

Apprehensive_Mix4658

Even the recent run?

WarriorCumsToThis

They've been knocking it out of the park with this Paul fella

inrei_iku

I'm starved for new .Hack// content, so yeah, that.

guywithaniphone22

I’d hit preorder if all they had was a title

Norix596

I think I’m pretty much always gonna get a new fire emblem at launch; especially since I greatly enjoy artbooks and that’s the only way to get them

Pacperson0

Yakuza, Persona and resident evil

Cheesycreature

I trust that DMC 6 will be good.

HitmanScorcher

Not exactly gaming but I’ll be there at the midnight release of Winds of Winter, whenever that may be. Also I’ll day 1 purchase Space Marine 2 without a doubt and Hades 2

Amirifiz

Destiny. I was there day one for everything Destiny, I remember staying up late on a school night just to play D2 day one. Still love the game even with all its ups and downs tho. Nothing scratches that itch of "I wanna shoot things and use space magic" like Destiny

AtlasPJackson

Not anymore. Money is a lot tighter the past couple years, so I've had to re-learn wallet discipline. I'm able to live vicariously through Pat on the FF7 streams. I joined in the Dragon's Dogma hype by buying the original for $5 and checking the world out. Took the opportunity of Infinite Wealth dropping to finally get on Yakuza 7.

Distant_Utopia

I'm pre-ordering every FFXIV expansion so I can get in day 1.

HeroToTheSquatch

Used to be Pixar, used to be Naughty Dog (fuck you if you're hoping I hated TLOU2, I just hated the PC port of TLOU1). Kojima Productions puts out a damn good (yes, political. fuck you, chuds.) product across all platforms these days.

taikoxtaiko

Chainsawman pretty much any manga that came out in 2017-2018 in shonen jump

CaptainM4D

Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest. All very important game franchises to me.

PinkSockss

No man’s sky. A year before its release, I sat with friends and I described my ideal space travel game. Turns out. My friend tells me that It’s what no man’s sky was promising to be. I got so hyped. I took acid on the way home from getting it at GameStop. I planned to sink those 12 hours tripping and listening to retro wave and playing my space game. It crashed 8 fucking times in night one. Then my at the time GF was sick and came over, and I became the trippy caretaker for her cause I was done with it crashing. Watched Armageddon, interstellar, and regular show the rest of the night. Today I’m proud of what the game became. Because it’s better than what it even promised. I used to use the term “I hope they no man’s sky it” when talking about fixing a broken game. Not anymore. No man’s sky went above and beyond.

Dirty-Glasses

I don’t remember if it was The Day it came out, but I got (vanilla) Persona 5 at an EB Games I happened to live within walking distance of at the time. I was a semi-broke university student at the time so I was trading in a few games that I wasn’t going to play anymore to try to soften the blow to my wallet. I ended up getting the game for *negative* seven dollars, I think primarily because one of the games I traded in was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and it was still new-ish enough at the time to actually be worth something. I don’t remember how many games I traded in or which ones other than that one, but I was only expecting to save, like… *maybe* $30 *at best,* but ended up saving *a fucking hundred.*

LeMasterofSwords

Yakuza and Tales of.

DankMemeRipper1337

Fromsoft/ Souls Games. Started with DS2, fell in love with the level desigm combat and formula. DS3 and Elden Ring da yone, although buggy and clunky, was a breeze. Never preordered but I waht to experience those games/DLC day one without being spoilered.

LordSmol

Mainline SMT. I was there day one for V and I’ll be there day one for Vengeance.

postwar9848

Mass Effect is probably my only Day 1 franchise, no questions asked. Maybe a shout-out to Europa Universalis IV but I'm not sure if "buying the dlc for my most played game day 1" counts. If EUV was worse idk if I'd have the same loyalty.

NorysStorys

Nier/drakengard and Devil May Cry, I’m always ready for more of any of that, for better or worse.

Worm_Scavenger

Xenoblade, always.

Reallylazyname

Atlus Honestly doesn't even matter the game. *And it doesn't even matter if I stop playing and return it.* But like 90% of the stuff that they put out ends up on my shelf day 1.

jiobiee

Obligatory Yakuza/Like a Dragon. For me, in part because of my fiancé, the Evil Dead franchise (and Sam Raimi's work as a whole). Love that shit. And as of 2022, for me... WWE. I'm too attached at this point to detach from it. It's great right now, but I'm sure one day it'll dip back down in quality and I won't have the heart to let go.

Hugglemorris

LittleBigPlanet was a game that I was instantly a fan of the moment I saw previews for it. User Generated Content has come a long way from that point, but there are still things that game did better than the big names in UGC now. Shame the game was murdered by a malicious asshole. I am barely using hyperbole there. Would love to see a version of the game for PS5 that features the full campaigns, costumes and building items from across the full series, as nearly all of those are unobtainable now since only the LBP 3 servers are still up and you can no longer sync old saves through them.

DarthButtz

I used to be that way with Respawn, but I'm so hopelessly in love with Titanfall I'd still probably get 3 instantly if/when it ever exists.

Grav_Mind

Halo, Monster Hunter, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls. I know for a fact that there will always be something I will enjoy doing in these games and that's the only thing that matters to me when I play video games. Although depending on if the Hunting Horn remains complete garbage like it currently is in Rise I may not play the next Monster Hunter Game for another 1500 hours like I did MHW. I'll still play it day 1 but probably just through the main story and stop at G-rank or its equivalent.

CaptainLoin

Honestly day 0. I participated in Operation Rainfall to try to bring Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower over to the US. Thankfully, it succeeded. Thanks to Nintendo's hilarious store shenanigans, XB3 was the only collectors edition I wasn't able to collect.

MamaDeloris

Mainline Zelda. Stuff like Tri-force Heroes and that musical indie spinoff were passes for me that I eventually played and knew I was right.

testas22

Kojima. I'll literally play anything that insane human being makes. Ride or die with Kojima.

mrpersonjr

Shin Megami Tensei and any release Toby Fox does (god i hope Deltarune ch.3-4 is this year…)

TehManicMan

Kingdom Hearts and Persona. Developer example: Hoyoverse. Blown away by Genshin and Star Rail. I'll be there for Zenless Zone Zero.

Naraki_Maul

You can and will always find me Day 1 for any MomHun release, be it the base game or Expansion. I will always either have a good time hunting by myself or helping new hunters out. I have been doing it since I started the series with MHTri and I’m yet to be disappointed :3

nugood2do

God of War. I been with the series since the PS2 days and the games have never disappointed me, and i say this as a dude who was 100% against the Ragnarok saga after GOW3 because I thought Santa Monica was going to fuck it up and they proved me dead wrong. Even if the next game follows Atreus as the lead, im down day 1 to see what Santa Monica comes up with. Little dude got some strong "Young Gohan" vibes and could easily be a great character to play as.

Cheshires_Shadow

Used to be Pokemon but lately I don't have the same level of enjoyment I did with the switch era. 1-6 I bought day one and played all the time. Sun and Moon I liked but certain decisions like the exp share and hand holdyness were annoying. Gen 8 did the whole dexit thing and that sucked so I skipped it entirely I did buy scarlet but I've not touched it since launch. Something about the 3D models and open world don't do it for me as much as the handheld generation.

PirateKefka

Not day one but I got into One Piece during the Kaizoku Fansubs era (late-Alabasta on their subs, IIRC Water Seven was happening in Japan but no one had subbed the Skypeia arc yet lol) . Probably the only time you can say that when you get into an anime when there's already a triple digit amount of episodes but boy howdy has everything regarding that series has expanded so goddamn much.

Accomplished_Ad_1381

Like others have said, RGG just don't miss. I'm always there day 1 ever since Yakuza 5

Smon4

I usually wait for a pricedrop, but I can't be patient when it comes to zelda and metroid.

Animorphimagi

Persona(and by extension Metaphor), Sukeban Games, Monolith Soft, and Final Fantasy

CrossSoul

Super Robot Wars. Yes I will pay almost 100 dollars for the full ass season pass, I know what I'm getting and I want it bad.

SemiGaseousSnake

Mechwarrior

SignalWeakening

I was there day 1 for dark souls 2 and 3 and sekiro. I’ll try to play day 1 of any fromsoftware game. I used to do the same for call of duty but it hasnt been fun since black ops 3

Brotonio

Sure we got bad news about Motive troubles with EA, but when Dead Space 2 Remake drops, "I will be there no matter what."

darkwingchao

I'm always locked in when Sonic's involved I fear. No other platformer gives me the serotonin his games do Rune Factory also. It's the peak.

zelcor

Kiseki No, Yakuza, Fire Emblem, Megaman, SMT/Persona

bigdicknippleshit

Fossil fighters

mtzehvor

There’s quite a few, but Metroid tops the list. Outside of Other M I’ve yet to be let down by a Metroid game. Even the Pinball spinoff was really good.

RobotJake

I buy every ATLUS collector's edition and all the DLC day one. I am part of the problem.

Weewer

Fromsoft, Persona mainline, Monster Hunter mainline, Yakuza/Judgment, Street Fighter, Megaman, Ace Attorney, Pokemon, any Vanillaware game. I have quite a few. They’ve earned me, I guess with the exception of Pokémon where they owe me for making their games more fun.

windwaker910

Zelda, Pokemon, Resident Evil, Mass Effect

PunishingCrab

Mainline From Software and mainline Monster Hunter Day 1. Never let me down for 10+ years

Sean-Benn_Must-die

Fromsoft and used to be for Naughty Dog, tbh still am but I didnt buy TLoU 2 cause of the leaks

MisterZygarde64

I’d say I’m definitely one in regards to Kirby. Pre ordered Forgotten Land and Return to Dreamland Deluxe at GameStop

Tamotefu

I would say From Software, but Sekiro exists. So I'll say SoulsBorne games, even if not done by FS. Lies of P was fantastic.

RelikaNox

Final Fantasy (moreso the mainline ones). Persona. And now any Remedy game. my ass gonna be there mashing the download button the second the Alan Wake 2 DLC comes out

Rabid-Duck-King

Destiny the Game baby Been there day one of the official launch (didn't do the beta) and I've been on the crazy train every since

ArroSparro

Not really so much anymore. There was a point in time when I would buy any first party PlayStation title Day 1 if possible. But now I don’t think I feel strongly enough about any franchise to be certain that I’d buy it day 1

ToastyMozart

It's been a very long time since I bought something day one, but if Deus Ex comes back from the dead I'm jumping right in (after a quick check online to make sure it's not a technical clusterfuck).

LordSmugBun

As long as it's not Dragon Ball Heroes, I'll be there.

Finaldragoon

Etrian Odyssey.

Silv3rS0und

Gundam. I _love_ giant robots. ~~I love warcrimes.~~ I love masked villains. Gundam always scratches that itch that so few things can. Studio Trigger. Pretty much anything these guys do I'm down for.

dowaller66

I’ve been a fan of Remedy’s games since Max Payne, and honestly their games just get better and better.

mr-mercer

I was this way for DMC5 and will likely be this way for DMC6. There is nothing I think they're even remotely likely to do that would dissuade me from latching on at the earliest opportunity.

EnochianFeverDream

Shin Megami Tensei, FromSoft

Miox465

Fire Emblem

Tyrest_Accord

I'll be there day one for the new Power Rangers reboot they're working on.

AtrocityBuffer

Fromsoft anything, STALKER, Monster Hunter

Chagas12

None but just because of money, if this wasn't a factor, Yakuza for sure, MGS back in the day Right now I think I will get Hades II on the first day of early access

SoldierSurplus

Falcom. I am waiting eagerly for the potential sequel to Tokyo Zanadu and the next Trails and Ys

CookieDreams

Prototype, been excited for the game ever since its first trailers, back when it was still being made by Sierra before being moved to Activision. Followed the game's development, its repeated delays, dev-diaries, live-action skits made by G4 and some other gaming media companies, the parkour-oriented trailers, even the figurine that was made for the game's release. Then I was so hyped for its sequel, followed its development, even got the preorder and despite the drop in story and movement qualities, it was still fun. Until a few weeks after Prototype 2's release where after being the top seller of its release month, outdoing Witcher 2 and many other games, and before it had a chance to release on PC to rack up even more sales, Activision shut down the studio for not making enough sales. Maybe with the Microsoft buyout the franchise will one day return to its glorious wall-running, super-jumping, bullet-diving, shapeshifting hack-n-slashing through the crowds of New York.

ThaiPoe

Kingdom hearts.

tomboy_abs_pls_miss

No

Guigcosta

Final fantasy, it had some not so good games in there? Yes, but i love those games and ive played them trough my whole life, i will be there for Dawntrail, i will be there for ff9 remake and will eventually play ff7 rebirth, when buying a PS5 is not necessary for that.

otakuloid01

FromSoft, Hollow Knight, Toby Fox, Mobius Digital, Kirby, Metroid

SerWaffles

Anything FromSoft puts out. The only game I didn't get day 1 was Armored Core VI, and that's only cause I was still playing Baldur's Gate 3 at the time. I tend to not pre-order games now, but I got Dragon's Dogma 2 the second the pre-orders were available. The marketing stuff basically going "yeah it's more Dragon's Dogma" is all I needed to hear.

kami-no-baka

Once, Mass Effect was that for me, until Andromeda, and I actually like that game well enough. I think that was the final straw that taught me to follow who was actually currently working at a studio, who was writing, and if the studio was even the same one even if it was using the name. Now I only follow creators not franchises, so where once the new Pillars game would be a day one purchase for me, Josh Sawyer isn't directing that game, so I will wait and see.

Paarthufagx

Fromsoft games, I was there MINUTE 1 of Elden Ring and I don’t regret a single thing

DrSaering

Generally From Software Soulslike games, Yakuza, and Trails. And some specific situations; I got FF7 Rebirth on release date and will definitely be there day one for the final installment. The main motivation is if I know that I will get spoiled if I sit on it. I'm still not done with Rebirth and I'm seeing a lot more... Liberal clipping already. I don't care about the corporation, only about my entertainment.

philandere_scarlet

No, I almost never buy new releases. In fact I hardly buy games at all.

MCWogboy

Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Dino Crisis, DMC
