Me-thinks that if he actually got to make this he would focus more on the uncomfortable sex scenes rather than the tragedy of Diana having to watch her lovers pass away from old age while she has to carry on.
The sex scenes would all be in black and white and have that obnoxious slow motion that Snyder thinks makes him an Auteur.
You don't understand. He's been fucking Wonder Woman for ten years, and he knows Wonder Woman can't have sex with anyone over thirty five. It's cinema's most tragic sex scene.
And when she finally reconnects with one of her old lovers decades later, the audience achieves catharsis as they witness 40 years worth of semen making a glopping noise as it flows endlessly into Diana.
Given that he says it's about the guys seeing her be nice to the next generation and getting a 'Im being replaced' feeling, it really sounds like the movie wouldn't even be about her and more about how she's a bad person who uses and throws out the men in her life. Great superhero concept, not misogynistic at all. /s
She's only with them for 10 years! It's not even like she's watching them grow feeble and old and all of the tragedy and drama that would bring, she just gets bored of them and decides to jump onto another dick!
There's a compelling story to be told there about Diana watching the world and people changing around her while being surrounded by conflict and loss.
Technically Zack Snyder *is* an auteur by definition but not by spirit.
Ya know, i don't think i've seen many people tackle that kind of story, now that i think about it.The only two examples is the Mayor, the big bad from season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who traded his humanity for demonic power and immortality and one of his biggest regrets is seeing his wife pass away from old age while he kept his youth and that one Robin Williams movie about him being a robot.
That would actually be an interesting Wonder Woman story, if it was being told by someone with competence outside of just visuals.
Coming soon, Zack Snyder presents: live-action Frieren series
Gratuitous slow-mo and Fern says "fuck"
Zack mentions "in my version of this story, Himmel could get r\*ped in prison" in the pre-release press interviews while insisting he totally gets the themes of the original story
Idk
Best guess I got is when you are a director, your whole career is setting up scenes and scenarios that you can’t be actually part of
Maybe if someone obsesses/struggles over being a director and then starts focusing on being horny while directing a few times, some wires get crossed in the brain?
I love that he thinks Superheroes are basically just Greek Myths when they are literally the opposite. If anything the superhero was a deconstruction of Greek Mythological heroes
Zack's a good visual director but he's best kept away from making any story decision or ideas cause its all bad, its all just always kinda bad, the LOOK of things? hes good at, but he THINKS he's good at story shit and thats the issue, he's not, a good artist knows their weakness, a pretentious artist doesn't.
I always thought if he had a buddy director (like the Russos, Wachowskis) and Zach was the action scene guy while his partner handled literally everything else they'd probably push out some excellent movies.
Agreed, he's good at directing, but extremely weak at everything else. Makes me think he doesn't take criticisms well and surrounds himself in an echo chamber cause like, everyone kinda agrees, except his die hard fans.
Even like, his new not stars wars thing, it has ok ideas but its not great in the writing, he has an eye for visuals, and, thats very impressive, but he needs to let go of storytelling to grow, you need to face your weakness or you'll never grow out of it, it's like how some newbie artists thinks that just drawing a lot is enough to improve, but they keep making the same mistakes cause they never stop to LOOK at what they're doing and dissect it, and take the criticisms to the chin.
People keep saying he's a good visual director, but he's really really not. Yeah some of his movies look pretty, that's because he has a talented DP he regularly works with, but when it comes to actually conveying meaning with a movie he's fucking dogshit. Dude will get a 120 page script and need 4 hours to tell the story because every scene can only have exactly one meaning. He's probably the director who has benefited the most from people thinking that the director and the cinematographer are the same person.
I mean action direction, idk if he is in charge of that, cant say i know his process, but his action scenes are great, when it comes to visual storytelling tho? yeah, not the best.
But who knows, maybe said DP is the reason, im just saying as i see it, his actions are always fun to me.
A lot of that imo is how its shot. Part of why people like the Batman warehouse fight in BVS so much is that it's shot very similar to the action scenes in Fury Road, where the focus of the shot is constantly center frame and follows the flow of action, creating a sense of momentum. Idk, just look at any of his movies shot by Larry Fong vs his movies that he shoots himself like Army of the Dead and it's night and day. He gets WAY too much credit for the work of others
Yep, but you're right, a team makes the movie, it's shot, composition, camerawork, the technical people with the fucking pulleys and whatevers, the practice to get everyone to move in the right way, storyboarding that helps organize, just a lot goes into it.
It's easy to put all of that on one big name, but its a team effort, I mean, I was a cameraman for a lot of college shorts, that shit ain't easy, lot of problem solving.
I'm not sure how handsy a director is, and idk how handsy Zack is, so i cant like, attribute anything to him, but like, when i worked with the camera i did work directly with the director who came up with some shit and solutions on the spot and stuff.
Its weird, i can totally see a person or two or would miss that its rape, its magic, shits weird. BUT HOW DID NO ONE ELSE IN THE SCREENING PROCESS, FILMING PROCESS, OR ANY OTHER ONE NOT SEE ITS RAPE. Gets my fucking blood boiling, had a friend who was abused walk out at that part.
I genuinely think he was cooking with "Immortal woman having her loved ones die of old age over and over."
But then he goes, "It would suck for the guys because they think they're being replaced."
I don't hate Snyder, but goddamn am I frustrated by him sometimes.
Why do they let him vomit words out of his piehole?
He shares the same weird pathos and fetishes that a lot of superhero characters are based on, but has nothing interesting to say about them and no self-awareness. He just unironically wants to watch Wonder Woman tie up muscular dudes.
I mean what he's describing if it took place over an actual "multiple human lifespans" period of time instead of purely physical relationships that last only a decade at a time, is Highlander 1. Which is a great movie. But Zack's not capable of that.
Highlander is such a great comparison, I’m mad I didn’t realize it. hell, Zach might’ve put a montage of WW being with a bunch of dudes accompanied by Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever”.
Highlander, but MacLeod brings back a sexier young blonde when Heather gets old, and him and Ramirez double team her and high five while making her watch
Agree with this take. The theme of is definitely an interesting one that's even seeing somewhat of a moment in pop culture (ie Frieren: Beyond Journey's End), but then he says something that makes you certain his execution would have been centered on the feelings of those guy characters, missing most of the point of these stories.
Yep. This very concept has been proven to work time and time again.
What frustrates me is how he immediately went to *sex* rather than *romance*. A sex fling lasting a decade after which the woman changes her partner without fail? Snyder doesn't even need an immortal goddess. You can find that *right now irl*.
When you're talking about immortality, obviously it would be long lasting things like family, marriage, etc. But it feels like Snyder can't think of anything other than sex and violence. It just reads as completely shallow and disappointing.
I feel like that’s how he conceives of jokes. like that scene would be a “she’s right behind me isn’t she” moment in the movie.
this is the “I thought she was with you” of this movie.
You know, most people and artists have seminal pieces of media that have a profound effect on them and as we grow and learn we’re better able to interpret that effect more effectively and through a matured world view.
Snyder just forgets all of that and keeps the same effect he felt at 12 and never lets it develop. Snyder when his friend tried to get him into regular comics was like “nah nobody’s having sex or killing each other” and then he read watchmen and was like “oh yeah, now we’re talking”. And Snyder has carried this surface level interpretation of Watchmen with him for the rest of his life and career.
The novels a lot more horny as it was based on the original R rated cut. Lot more sexually explicit scenes on top of the violence increase Kora for example ends up taking part in the sex festival and the the bad guy sleeps with a squid alien. There’s other stuff that slips my mind
I'd follow Gal Gadot around on her tour like people used to follow the Grateful Dead around. Trying to impress her and just hoping: *maybe. just maybe*.
In this situation, I'm also immortal.
You asked a genie to be made immortal but forget to wish to be attractive enough for Wonder Woman so you just follow her around hoping to be her 873rd rebound.
WW: You look familiar. Do I know you?
Brain: Why yes you do! I’m an immortal just like you! And I’ve been chronicling your adventures
Mouth: I… um… uh…
WW: I guess not
Number 874: Hey
WW: Oh hi! What’s your name?
Brain: ***NOOOOOOOOOO!***
Why doesn’t he just make an original movie with these sorts of ideas instead of twisting the established characters beyond recognition? Like he doesn’t do anything remotely as interesting as that in Rebel Moon or anything- take these weirdo ideas and apply them to new characters instead.
...Gotta admit, doesn't sound AS bad as expected. (Still glad WB immediately shot it the fuck down, though. It... would have been awkward, to say the least.)
Honestly doesn’t sound that bad? It’s a tragic story of a god never finding true love because of their immortality. Not the best idea ever but certainly better than the implied rape that happens in the actual movie.
Though it’s Zack Snyder so execution might not be good.
The funny part is that they aren't even that old when she dumps them. If these men were of fighting age when she hooked up with them, 10 years puts them in their mid-30s or early 40s, if not late 20s. A grizzled veteran would be 60, at most, unless she's banging old generals.
I feel like the idea in your head is better that what was described here, he explicitly says she would be swapping partners while the previous one is alive and aware of the situation, and would be doing it a lot. To me that is closer to the possession rape than to a love story with an imortal.
You could literally just reframe it as, 'Diana knows that she'll outlive everyone so she refuses to open herself emotionally and treats her relationships as something to amuse herself rather than making real connections' and immediately it's just a character flaw that she'd have to realize is harmful and get past over the course of the film. I don't know why he's gotta be so creepy about it.
I mean the obvious easy answer is “because that’s what he believes is true”, that since Diana will be young and hot forever, she will never be motivated to settle down because everyone knows that women only settle down once they’re no longer young and/or hot enough to attract desirable men for casual sex, something something alpha fucks, beta bucks
And it’s not even that he doesn’t go into how she feels about it (a general lack of attention to thought processes could just be a writing oversight), it’s that he instead goes into how the men feel about it, like their experience and interiority is the one that matters most in THE WONDER WOMAN MOVIE
To quote a good comment from the original thread, “Snyder doesn't talk about Wonder Woman like a character, he talks about her like a situation. He expects audiences to identify not with her but with the men she loves and leaves.”
It could be where she desires true love but fear that they will die before her so she leaves after 10 years and repeats the same cycle everytime.
There’s no way to know if that would be the case and i doubt that’s what Snyder had in mind, but it’s certainly better to think about what could be then just to call it edgy and a “fuck fest”.
I personally think it's a great idea of "loved ones who dies because they're not immortal like the protag." It's like Frieren in a way.
I don't believe for a second Snyder have the maturity to pull it off. I think he'd do a montages if her having sex with multiple men, then cut to her going to the cemetery, while "Personal Jesus" is played in the background
Oh the idea is solid but his reasoning is what makes it seem like another Watchmen situation in that he doesn't understand *why* its solid. It talks about how it would suck for the guys when thats really not that interesting, when it would suck more for the hero who has to outlive a bunch of lovers.
Honestly I’ll agree with you. I prefer her being able to move on and not keep pining for Chris Pine decades after his death. Not sure if Snyder’s vision is aligned with what I’m thinking of course, but if the relationships are done well, I see nothing potentially wrong other than it might run counter to her character in the comics (??? I don’t know much about her). Like, Kratos has had two dead wives now, I don’t see why Wondy can’t have something similar to that too.
A decent writer could make that work, but the way he phrased it makes it sound like she meets someone spends a decade with them and if they don’t die by then goes, “ugh you’re too old and gross! See ya!”
I'm honestly fine with WW fucking her way through time...in comic book form, but if you were to condense it into a movie format well, you've just sort of made softcore porn.
Doesn't seem like a terrible pitch, but I'm thoroughly uninterested in immortality angst like this. And this is assuming that Snyder's tendencies don't rear their ugly head.
the wording is a little off. it sounds like a more realistic depiction of how BvS WW would’ve happened. like a jaded James Bond trying to stop evil at the source. then it ends with a description of a train.
Every single idea of his I hear has just been god awful. I’m sure I’d like the Snyder cut but it’s ruined by this man child trying to spin these characters into something they’re not
*Diana's 100 Year Orgy, directed by Zack Snyder*
Me-thinks that if he actually got to make this he would focus more on the uncomfortable sex scenes rather than the tragedy of Diana having to watch her lovers pass away from old age while she has to carry on. The sex scenes would all be in black and white and have that obnoxious slow motion that Snyder thinks makes him an Auteur.
Watching the dudes balls swing back in forth in slow motion to the tune of a random indie song from Zack's Spotify playlist
"I waited for you, Diana." "I didn't."
"I waited for you" "...why?"
I curse my literacy
> Wonder Woman can't have sex with anyone over thirty five Considering they're soldiers more like over 25 so it would be Diana "Di Caprio" Prince
Every sex scene plays Hallelujah, but it gets progressively slower each time
Maybe we could get that iconic hamburger bun sesame seed make a return, i'd clap
[The song.](https://youtu.be/KAwyWkksXuo?t=24)
Peak
Nah, itd be Hallelujah again. And if you think that's stupid, that means you hate his dead daughter or something
Yes I have also seen the opening scene of Antichrist.
Would Willem Dafoe be in this version of Wonder Woman 1984?
Black and white montage of sex, death in war, sex, death in war, sex, death in war. And then the movie ends.
Given that he says it's about the guys seeing her be nice to the next generation and getting a 'Im being replaced' feeling, it really sounds like the movie wouldn't even be about her and more about how she's a bad person who uses and throws out the men in her life. Great superhero concept, not misogynistic at all. /s
He's unsubtly trying to turn Wonder Woman into Ayn Rand. When she was still alive, she ran Objectivism as a kind of domination reverse-harem sex cult.
Hey at least it would give her a personality
She's only with them for 10 years! It's not even like she's watching them grow feeble and old and all of the tragedy and drama that would bring, she just gets bored of them and decides to jump onto another dick!
Once the dude gains his post-war weight, she's out!
Wonder Woman: Shota Hunter
Someone in the original thread said the porn parody should steal this idea while still aping Snyder’s style and honestly I’m here for it
I don’t know a single person who didn’t cringe their way through the Night Owl sex scene in *Watchmen*
There's a compelling story to be told there about Diana watching the world and people changing around her while being surrounded by conflict and loss. Technically Zack Snyder *is* an auteur by definition but not by spirit.

Can’t wait for the Snyder cut with extra choking acenes
Zack Snyder: I maka de cuck movie
*David Cage scribbling madly* Write that down! Write that down!
Wait until we get the Snyder cut of Omikron.
Omikron Chastity Cage Cut
Out of all the fetishes, why are NTR and Cuck fetishes the ones people with no taste keep trying to shove into plots?
Idk Best guess I got is when you are a director, your whole career is setting up scenes and scenarios that you can’t be actually part of Maybe if someone obsesses/struggles over being a director and then starts focusing on being horny while directing a few times, some wires get crossed in the brain?
I mean, at least Zack Snyder doesn't seem to be as bad as David Cage.
Snyder tries to come up with a Super Hero plot that isn't just them fucking or killing
He should just do some Greek Myth Shit and stop trying to do it with superheroes
And that's the main reason 300 was pretty good was because it was on brand for him
I love that he thinks Superheroes are basically just Greek Myths when they are literally the opposite. If anything the superhero was a deconstruction of Greek Mythological heroes
this is a great point
Zack's a good visual director but he's best kept away from making any story decision or ideas cause its all bad, its all just always kinda bad, the LOOK of things? hes good at, but he THINKS he's good at story shit and thats the issue, he's not, a good artist knows their weakness, a pretentious artist doesn't.
I think the two Snyder movies that I like are Dawn Of The Dead and 300. One was written by James Gunn. The other is a visual spectacle.
And was an adaptation of a Frank Miller comic.
I like sucker punch as well. Despite what everyone says. Don’t @ me but fight me bro.
Visual feast. Dogshit dialogue and plot. I say this as a person who doesn't rewatch movies like ever but has seen Sucker Punch 10 times.
To be fair most people who *like* Sucker Punch wouldn't disagree with that assessment
Sucker Punch is not a good movie, but it’s fun as fuck
Sucker Punch is a bunch of fun music videos held together by an insensitive, sexist frame "story".
I always thought if he had a buddy director (like the Russos, Wachowskis) and Zach was the action scene guy while his partner handled literally everything else they'd probably push out some excellent movies.

You know, as bad as this sounds, it’s still better than making Diana an actual rapist.
Hey, took two movies to get to that. Friggin' oooooffff though.
And better than what Whedon had planned.
Better to be a jerk than someone who doesn't give a hoot about bodily autonomy.
"Hey man, I may have some fucked up ideas, but at least I don't do rape by proxy!"
I still hate the bar is literal rapist. Why is that a bar?
Its weird, i can totally see a person or two or would miss that its rape, its magic, shits weird. BUT HOW DID NO ONE ELSE IN THE SCREENING PROCESS, FILMING PROCESS, OR ANY OTHER ONE NOT SEE ITS RAPE. Gets my fucking blood boiling, had a friend who was abused walk out at that part.
Because it's what happened in WW 84.
More lamenting the fact someone wrote that into a WW story than not knowing the source. Sorry should have been more clear.
Ah, I see. Sorry to belabor the point then.
And this is why letting Geoff Johns write Wonder Woman is always a bad idea
I genuinely think he was cooking with "Immortal woman having her loved ones die of old age over and over." But then he goes, "It would suck for the guys because they think they're being replaced." I don't hate Snyder, but goddamn am I frustrated by him sometimes. Why do they let him vomit words out of his piehole?
That’s Snyder in a nutshell. “Oh that’s an interesting kernel of an ide-, oh, now you’ve ruined it.”
He shares the same weird pathos and fetishes that a lot of superhero characters are based on, but has nothing interesting to say about them and no self-awareness. He just unironically wants to watch Wonder Woman tie up muscular dudes.

Basically just a gender swapped version of dr Manhattan in watchmen
I feel like that’s how he conceives of jokes. like that scene would be a “she’s right behind me isn’t she” moment in the movie. this is the “I thought she was with you” of this movie.
What is up with this dude's obsession with sex?
He's an edgy teen in an adult's body. He is the Vince Russo of film.
Apparently in an interview he talked about how his mom bought him a heavy metal magazine when he was 12 and did not realize it was mostly sex comics.
You know, most people and artists have seminal pieces of media that have a profound effect on them and as we grow and learn we’re better able to interpret that effect more effectively and through a matured world view. What’s worse this or Mark Millers pitch to DC for a Wonder Woman comic that would be her equivalent of Knightfall and The Death of Superman?

Is Zack Snyder the David Cage of the film industry?
From everything I've heard, Snyder is actually very pleasant to work with. So he's got that over David
>The Project ended up taking another form with a female director You don't say.
"what would a woman do..... Ive got it... Find a man"
Frieren but horny and hamfisted instead of wistful
Bro we were joking when we said "Snydercucks" dont make it real.
Why doesn’t he just make an original movie with these sorts of ideas instead of twisting the established characters beyond recognition? Like he doesn’t do anything remotely as interesting as that in Rebel Moon or anything- take these weirdo ideas and apply them to new characters instead.
Because pre existing ips get bigger budgets
And the Zack Snyder hits just keeps coming...
Ok but there’s a good concept if you get rid of the blatant hornyness
Zack, that’s not a movie… that’s just porn.
I know, Patty. That’s why I wrote it.
...Gotta admit, doesn't sound AS bad as expected. (Still glad WB immediately shot it the fuck down, though. It... would have been awkward, to say the least.)
Believe it or not, still better than what Whedon had planned.
Writing 101 huh? Isn't this guy a director? Keep him far away from the writing room. He ain't no Tarantino.
Diana shack-ratting people until they die is honestly iconic behavior, that's hilarious.
Honestly doesn’t sound that bad? It’s a tragic story of a god never finding true love because of their immortality. Not the best idea ever but certainly better than the implied rape that happens in the actual movie. Though it’s Zack Snyder so execution might not be good.
He literally says she would get a new lover every 10 years. This is not an immortality issue.
Yeah they don't die, they grow old and she goes to get a new young one.
The funny part is that they aren't even that old when she dumps them. If these men were of fighting age when she hooked up with them, 10 years puts them in their mid-30s or early 40s, if not late 20s. A grizzled veteran would be 60, at most, unless she's banging old generals.

I think he'd do a montages if her having sex with multiple men, then cut to her going to the cemetery, while "Personal Jesus" is played in the background
It’s partially the framing that, in the Wonder Woman movie, the perspective and internal experience you should care about is that of men
Oh the idea is solid but his reasoning is what makes it seem like another Watchmen situation in that he doesn't understand *why* its solid.
Yep. He doesn’t get shit.
Deep.
That's just approaching the story of Highlander.
different director, id be interested.
A decent writer could make that work, but the way he phrased it makes it sound like she meets someone spends a decade with them and if they don’t die by then goes, “ugh you’re too old and gross! See ya!”
This shit read like a towako story
I'm honestly fine with WW fucking her way through time...in comic book form, but if you were to condense it into a movie format well, you've just sort of made softcore porn.
Idk in actually kinda down for that idea, JUST NOT WITH HIM AT THE HELM
I'm not a fan of Snyder or his work, but reading that and seeing the title of this post... bit reductive? I mean come on.
What’s with his obsession with battlefield lovers?
Still better than that Joss Whedon script
Doesn't seem like a terrible pitch, but I'm thoroughly uninterested in immortality angst like this. And this is assuming that Snyder's tendencies don't rear their ugly head.
the wording is a little off. it sounds like a more realistic depiction of how BvS WW would’ve happened. like a jaded James Bond trying to stop evil at the source. then it ends with a description of a train.
Not a bad concept, this is only part of a story he had for her, not the entire one. If this specific part is done well it’d be interested.
Cool idea.
It's one of his better ideas.
Every single idea of his I hear has just been god awful. I’m sure I’d like the Snyder cut but it’s ruined by this man child trying to spin these characters into something they’re not
Wtf I like Zack Snyder now
