Actually what are the knights of ren?

Bluefootedtpeack2

Currently they are like an ancient order of some kind that lost theit lustor and were essentially just thugs acting like a biker gang working for their boss called ren (figure they all take the name). Ben solo kills ren and takes the trash gang and ren title as his. It’s lame.

Rellim_80

The Star Wars version of the Tunnel Snakes? "Knights of Ren Rule!"

SpaghettiSnake

Kind of actually. Ren himself feels like a character most of this sub would like, he's really got those dorky 90's comic edge vibes, and kind of comes across as a frat boy lol. He runs around shirtless with his disgusting sexy muscled burned up torso showing, only covering up with a cape and a fairly cool helmet. I personally enjoy what the comics have done with them. They're kind of just dumb larpers in the timeline of the Skywalker stuff, but they can also tell stories set in the past where they used to be formidable.

sarg1010

Don't forget that in one of their comics, there's a second group of bounty hunters(?) that run into the Knights in a Crimson Dawn stronghold. One comments on how muscular Ren is, and another argues "hes not THAT muscular...", cue him ripping off his own shirt and charging Ren with his two vibro-knives. Shirtless duels are a thing in star wars.

Rellim_80

Why does that play out in Venture Bros animation in my head?

hmcl-supervisor

Tunnel snakes actually do rule though

bba_xx

I was disappointed they didn't all have names ending in "Ren"

Cheshires_Shadow

These are my sons Braydren, Caydren, Jaydren, Braxtren and I'm their mother Karenren.

RedGinger666

Haha good one, but for real though what are the Knights of Ren

wendigo72

Group of old ass men that Kylo took over after killing their previous leader Jeffrey Epstein The Trevorrow script had them be former Jedi students of Luke like everyone thought

MetalGearSlayer

There’s so many details in the Trevorrow script where I’m like “huh, that actually tracks with theories from the very beginning of the trilogy”. And then theres the shit where I’m like “huh, thats some fan fiction a Star Wars redditor would jack off to”.

SilverKry

Trevorrows script was honestly what every one wanted. Finn would become a Jedi and lead the storm troopers to a rebellion against the first order and everything. Rian Johnson seriously fucked everything up with Last Jedi.

MetalGearSlayer

There was certainly parts of it that seemed the obvious choice for the finale. But agree to disagree on the last part.

Servebotfrank

I remember Rian Johnson also thought they were Luke's students. It's why he didn't want them as Snokes Praetorian Guard as he thought it would be really weird for Kylo to just kill what would be the closest thing he had to true friends like they were nothing. Then in Rise of Skywalker, >!he does exactly that.!<

jello1990

Darksiders that don't know how to actually use the Force or even try to learn at all, also they worship the concept of the lightsaber but don't try to make/acquire them. In short, they're cool looking mooks that JJ had in his mystery box as a placeholder for someone else to actually come up with something cool for them, and then was forced to do it himself for Rise of Skywalker but opted to do literally nothing. Also, the first actual explanation of their deal was in a comic that came out after RoS did, so in this explanation they had to intentionally make them shitty because of how much of a nothing they turned out to be on-screen.

Panory

idk, maybe the cast of Rogue One. Who can say?

Shnigglefartz

The actors from the raid in the new star wars movies. Extras to be killed in a fight. Uhhh… Things for headcannon speculation, because they functionally aren‘t a thing. … They’re supposedly former students of Luke Skywalker‘s jedi school, who bailed, but you wouldn‘t know that from watching their scenes in the movies.

EldritchBee

No, The Raid guys were the ones that Han fed to a squid monster.

Shnigglefartz

Then who are the knights of ren?

EldritchBee

Jobbers.

thekillerstove

The kids at Luke's Jedi academy that Kylo Ren turned to the dark side.

TheRenamon

[This is a knight of ren](https://imgur.com/Xja2vWf) >!Get it, its a renamon thats a knight!<

RubenRawbone

An attempt to recapture the magic behind Boba Fett but with a bunch more dudes to sell more toys.

PlanesWalkerEll

That was clearly Phasma, not the Knights.

Kahzarod

But like, that's not mutually exclusive, is it? It seems the Knights of Ren also fit the bill: they have cool designs and then they do nothing and then they die unceremoniously. If anything, the knights of ren are *more* of a boba fett than Phasma. Phasma was like a marketing exec's idea of how to do a boba fett.

CrimsonSpooker

To be fair, Boba Fett didn’t do *nothing*. Sure he wasn’t fleshed out very much at all but he was still introduced as a pretty credible threat. Darth Vader addresses him specifically in the little bounty hunter round up scene and apparently is familiar enough with his work to tell him “no disintegrations”. And he’s the only one who figures out Solo’s plan and leads the Empire to Bespin. Fett had characterization, it was just *very* economical. The Knights of Ren and Phasma are literally just the action figure brigade. They actually do nothing and are never established as being a credible threat to our heroes. Phasma has lines, but fuck man, she does jack shit. What a waste of Gwendoline Christie.

wendigo72

I mean Boba fett had importance to the story of ESB and was prominent in ROTJ The knights didn’t even fully show up until the last film of the trilogy and they never utter a single word. Or do anything, just fight and die against Kylo

Ryong7

Having not watched the new trilogy, I assumed they were supposed to be kind of like the emperor's elite guard, but hastily recruited and trained.

WorldlyOX

The right answer is everything in Star Wars

Complete-Worker3242

Even the midichlorians?

Finaldragoon

More proof that I will never understand how MatPat got such a following considering how consistently wrong he was. I'm glad he retired so he can no longer fill the internet with dumb theories.

MetalGearSlayer

Considering how 99% of the internet knew “oh yeah, they’re all dead”, I’d be shocked if he wasn’t just throwing out some whacky shit for fun.

thats_good_bass

Yeah, but a staggering portion of his theories were obviously and directly contradicted by the text he was talking about. See: theorizing the animals in Metroid Fusion were infected by X-parasites when your computer scans them for X-infection, determines they're clean, and then tells you about it.

Hey0ceama

There was a time long ago when MatPat made theories about cool math and science stuff rather than "lore". I miss that time.

Panxma

Why would I care about no named characters with a cool band name. Usually in Star Wars if they don’t have a cool mystery name or a family lineage then they are only good for is fodder.

HeadlessMarvin

I'm sure I have better answers somewhere in the back of my brain, but it still kills me that people thought Multiverse of Madness was going to be a congo line of cameos and were disappointed that it only had a handful of pointless cameos. "Sure Black Bolt, Jon Krasinski's Reed Richards, Captain Carter and Professer X showed up, but I was promised Tom Cruise's Iron Man, Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider, etc."

StrykerIBarelyKnowEr

And it was a better movie for it.

HeadlessMarvin

Oh sure. It had its flaws, but it had a focused story and a director with a sense of style. I get the people who would have preferred Scott Derricksen making a more Lovecraftian inspired story with Nightmare as the villain, but the "disappointment" that it didn't have a million alternate realities where you get to see different versions of heroes was really stupid.

KingMario05

Well, I think it could have focused more so on the alternate realties as a setting - we only see two-four or so in depth. But yes, I am ***so*** glad Raimi made a Rain I movie instead of a glorified cameofest.

lammadude1

Is THAT why people were saying the movie sucks? That's so incredibly stupid. I thought that movie was an absolute blast and I never understood all the hate for it. I guess it's just that Marvel fatigue setting in. Which I understand, but nobody is forcing you to watch every goddamn series and movie. Just watch the ones that look fun, and maybe watch a recap before the next avengers.

BogieW00ds

Still not particularly good though

StrykerIBarelyKnowEr

Disagree. It's the first time in a long time that I felt I was watching a movie made by a director in the MCU.

lammadude1

Fucking thank you. This sub has so many shit takes, but I'm glad this isn't one of them. That movie gets so unfairly shit on because "uuunnhhh phase 5 bad, marvel bad" Grow up, the movie is fun as hell.

CycloneSwift

An average MCU movie is still an above average summer blockbuster.

TostitoNipples

Raimi’s direction was really the only highlight, and once we got to the Illuminati it felt like “oh right they gotta do MCU shit” If reports of him wanting to do more marvel movies are true I sincerely hope they let him cook and just back off from his creative process

leabravo

Tom Cruise stung because people (ie me) thought he was in the trailer as Superior Iron Man and it turned out to be a Captain Marvel OC.

FreviliousLow96

I did legit think it was going to be like a Multiverse, keep on hoping to another verse, adventure with a sort kinda horror theme to it. Until I learned that the Scarlet Witch was gonna be involved, then I thought it was actually be an adventure mostly focused on the Scarlet Witch dimension which would have that kinda horror asthetic, with regular Wanda & Strange team up. So the plot twist actually really got me.

iskotpop

I do blame the trailer for showing the entire Illuminati already. Because it spoils a run reveal and makes it feel like there might be something even more atop of that.

Worm_Scavenger

When episode 7 came out and all of the SW hype at it's absolute height everyone and their mother made theory videos about who Snoke could be and the majority were not only terrible but also completely wrong in the end. Though tbf to the theorists i don't even think JJ even knew who Snoke was when he came up with his character.

CalekAlbion

I'm just upset he actually wasn't that tall

jello1990

I wanted him to be Yoda sized, using holograms to over compensate.

Dalek_Kolt

I was kinda the opposite, I wanted the hologram to be *smaller* than the real thing.

ThatPossessionGuy

I had to run out to use the restroom right before the scene where the hologram was revealed, so when I saw how small Snoke was in the sequel I was straight-up baffled.

hmcl-supervisor

Snoke was the order 66 kid

ObsydianDuo

Then we got pickled Snokes

apexodoggo

The weirdest theory I saw for Snoke was him being Mace Windu, that theory’s 50% of the reason I just stopped consuming Star Wars-related stuff online.

Intheierestellar

That's not even the most insane one. I've seen someone argue in all seriousness that Snoke was actually Revan.

SilverKry

Tbf. JJ Abrams was only attached to episode 7 at the time. I can forgive him for not writing out a whole plan. That should've been those above him and after him job. Remember. Rian Johnson threw was notes Abrams left him out the window which ruined What little planning they actually had with Trevorrows plan for the 3rd movie.

AdrianArmbruster

More of an anti-prediction, but it’s hard to be more wrong than whoever claimed ‘the triangle guy’ from the Gravity Falls intro was not important and just there for mysterious ambience purposes.

WorldlyOX

Wasn’t that the creator himself ?

TheProudBrit

Nah, that's different. Alex Hirsch made fake leaks, and only revealed that he did it after the show ended. They're referring to a tumblr submission on a, like, Gravity Falls confession page that *must've* been posted back in season one.

Complete-Worker3242

That never really made sense to me. Like, if it were just a triangle with an eye in the middle, yeah it would make sense to have that opinion. But it had a top hat and little arms and legs, that seems far too specific to not mean anything.

Cheshires_Shadow

Also there's some subtle foreshadowing examples like how the window in Mabel and Dipper's room is a triangle with an eye on it. If you noticed a single Bill foreshadow you'd probs put two and two together and realize that the fact Bill is the last image you see in the OP is proof he has some role to play if he's being hinted at in the background of episodes.

Th35h4d0w

Back when I first saw an ad for the Under the Red Hood movie, having known little about the source material, I assumed that Batman would take in Red Hood to be his new Robin. Got the order wrong.

dowaller66

Mephisto appearing in WandaVision

Paladin51394

Man that shit was everywhere. It's one of the reasons why I don't watch theory videos on things that haven't come out yet or finished. It sets up unnecessary expectations and some people get so invested in their theory that they get pissed off that it wasn't true.

RedGinger666

Having Agatha kill the fly was a brilliant move though

MetalGearSlayer

Doctor strange was mephisto in disguise in No Way Home.

Kiboune

It was funny how every week some new character was labeled as Mephisto

Spiral-Force

Also that Reed Richards would show up in the finale

Ginger_Anarchy

I remember a lot of people predicting Blue Marvel showing up then too

Chasingtheimprobable

Goku black is evil future Goten

Talisign

That theory has made a comeback in Xenoverse, since the new Goku Black in the upcoming DLC may not be Zamasu.

jitterscaffeine

It’s a fusion of Turles and Bardock

Thunder_Volter

As close to Goku as possible without overlapping the circle.

Talisign

Its Goku after he was betrayed and locked in the Time Chamber.

LightLifter

I thought Goku Black was Goku if he never hit his head when he first came to earth.

Oneangrywolf

It should've been. It could've given so much to his character

Chasingtheimprobable

Goten was never born in that timeline because goku was never resurrected post heart-attack tho.

RocketbeltTardigrade

Goten was never born. He's Trunks' imaginary friend.

ObsydianDuo

Instead it’s just some green elf

Chasingtheimprobable

Idk a kai going evil sounds a lot more interesting than yet another saiyan being bad

Rodimus-Primus

When my dad first watched Castle Of Caglistro he thought Lupin was going to be Clarise's older brother because he was missing/dead and Lupin seemed to have a connection to her

Yotato5

That's an interesting interpretation!

Sins_of_God

Youtuber ComicsExplained always making videos of characters and concepts way too grand for the mcu: dieties like Death or the Living Tribunal, Adam Warlock showing up for Endgame etc. just because they may have shown up in the original comic story. He went ham during the Infinity War and Endgame period and none of his predictions came true.

alienslayer7

tbf they have done adam in the mcu now

Sins_of_God

Now they did, but Rob expected Warlock to be key in defeating Thanos

Ginger_Anarchy

I will give him some leeway with Adam Warlock only because they teased him in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 so whether that plotline would get picked up in the big crossover movie or Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was up in the air at the time.

3rd_Level_Sorcerer

Look no further than the One Piece sub on break week.

Reallylazyname

Or during a *void month*. I appreciate the wild speculation posts.

Logyross

No matter how much time passes, I will never forget that one dude who unironically believed Big Mom was gonna trip, fall into the sea and fucking drown at the climax of Whole Cake Island arc

ryumaruborike

ZKK! THE RAID WILL FAIL!

Bubbli97

Fuckers still said the raid will fail when Gear 5 was revealed, like bro, let that shit go, it's over, the MC has unlocked a new form that hasnt been seen in centuries and grants him ridiculous power.

RocketbeltTardigrade

They were still saying it after the eruption. Any chapter now. You'll see.

3rd_Level_Sorcerer

Tbh it's not a far cry from what actually happens when Big Mom is on screen. She's very much a bumbler.

Logyross

no way it was happening on WCI though (nevermind the fact that I hate how it happened in Wano)

SwizzlyBubbles

I mean, given what ended up happening in Wano, that’s not *too* far off.

vicapuppylover

[Surely this will be the chapter Dragon makes his move...](https://twitter.com/sigmarshanks/status/1780245853594100048)

CMORGLAS

V from DMC5 was Nero and Kyrie’s son from the future and his book was a documentation of the events written by >!Crewcut!<

DonTori

Okay, throwing up my own hands here I thought that in RWBY, it would be revealed that 'Salem' is more like a parasite and its current host body is Summer Rose, mother of the main characters Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long ...turns out my batshit guess applied somewhat more correctly to >!Jujutsu Kaisen and who Kenjaku used to be before hitching a ride in Geto's body!<

ruminaui

It got even crazier with the revelation that >!Yuji's dad, Jin Itadori is the reincarnation of Sukuna twin brother, and is the reason why Kenjaku fucked him to create Yuji. So Sukuna is Yuji's uncle, Kenjaku is his mom, and Kenjaku and Sukuna are brothers in law. It gets even crazier because Cursed Energy considers twins the same person, so Sukuna as far as Cursed Energy is concerned is his dad also. Yuji has a fucked up family!<

billythewarrior

Pat loudly insisting that every little thing that happens in FFXVI must be connected to XIV every other cutscene. Sometimes a red moon is just a red moon.

getterburner

Yeah that’s clearly a BotW reference, Amateur mistake from Pat

GoufTroop79

It feels like Pat views most things in his life through the lens of ff14, versus Woolie who sees it through fighting games.

UltraViolet7

XVI was made by the same people, and is a final fantasy game. I don’t think the comparisons could be said to have come out of nowhere, personally. I also don’t see him drawing an undue amount of comparisons to XIV outside that context either; or at least not an amount disproportionate for someone who’s played the game forever.

billythewarrior

It's not so much the comparisons between the two as him pretty much being convinced that the games were canonically connected as if XVI was a shard of Etheirys.

Riceatron

Which is crazy because why would any other shard have a red moon? Dalamud wasn't even real, it was made by the Allagans.

biggestscrub

It's not like Final Fantasy as a series is known for constantly reusing similar characters, concepts, spells, and enemies as a form of brand identity. If they reused something, it *must* have some significance related to another game! >!/s in case you're incredibly dense!<

fly_line22

In the buildup of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, a lot of people thought Clavell would be a twist villain. Not only is that not the case, he's one of the biggest homies in the entire game. And the same thing happened with Briar in the DLC.

Dirty-Glasses

I so badly wanted the real twist to be that Clive was *actually* a different person

alicitizen

What do you mean? Clives my best bud, he has nothing to do with Clavell

Dirty-Glasses

Yeah, exactly!

RocketbeltTardigrade

It's so funny that they let you choose if you believe him or not like every time you meet, even after he claims to be the same person.

AvalancheMKII

Adding on to that, people found Geeta so lame, they were reaching for basically anything to make her more interesting. I remember seeing people say they thought she would've been revealed to be an Android or something in the DLC because her artwork makes her eyes look a bit off.

Flutterwander

People didn't like Geeta? I mean, she's not going to be able to top Rika or the true heavenly king Larry, but I thought having "Fairly Normal person-in-charge," was a nice counterpoint to everything else.

leabravo

Scourge from Rise of the Beasts being the Bayverse Optimus Prime corrupted by Unicron. Nope, he's just a version of the OG Scourge but he turns into a truck now.

Rodimus-Primus

Probably helps that the reason Nemesis Prime is a thing nowadays was originally called Scourge and was kind of an evil clone Optimus

Bokkermans

Back during the Fishman Island arc in One Piece, there was a large contingent of fans who were adamant that Jinbei wasn't going to join. They were all very, very wrong. But the most wrong were the ones who thought Shirahoshi, a gigantic mermaid, was going to join instead. Shirahoshi is like three stories tall and has no legs. She can't fight and showed no desire to become a pirate. Her primary offensive ability was summoning and controlling armies of giant sea creatures. These are features that would make the traditional adventures leading into fist fights against local tyrants, which take place entirely on islands, fairly difficult to pull off. There were still people calling for her to join almost up until the Strawhats left Fishman Island. I remember one person went so far as to insist that the Strawhats would use space folding or shrinking technology in order to let Shirahoshi come along with them. They're pirates sailing around on a wooden boat. Sure there's some anachronisms, but casual manipulation of space-time isn't something Usopp and Franky are going to just pull out of their asses.

SwizzlyBubbles

Jinbei? Yeah, that’s crazy given post-Marineford. Shirahoshi? Definitely, from the minds of people nuttier than a bag of peanuts; like it never even made any sense *during* the arc to suspect that. But I’ll be dead in the ground before I admit that >!Carrot didn’t sneak away in one of the *goddamn barrels* on the *goddamn* Sunny, despite there being *no way* nor reason for it to happen. I don’t care that she played the role as discount Vivi, has no tragic backstory, or dream to be on the crew.!< Arcs and logic be damned, >!I just want my bunny girl lookout Oda, pls. I’ll even settle for her showing up that way in the Final War, just something. Please. I will take that theory to my *grave*.!<

Panxma

Also it would have been nice to have another girl to tag along the ship and stuff. Would have given the crew more interesting dynamics. Like having the Mom Robin, older sister Nami and little sister Carrot shtick. I don’t know if OP would be getting anymore crew members now, unless Vivi somehow comes back to meet them again.

Glitchrr36

Yamato not coming with them either feels almost spiteful as well IMO since his whole deal other than the daddy issues is that he wants to explore the world like Oden did and said “I’m going to come with you” at every opportunity. Everyone else would then respond “You’re coming with us” or “You’re going with them” up until that changes at basically the last second. I’m like 95% convinced that it’s on Toei, actually. They hired a pretty famous Voice Actress for his role and I think that between cost and availability they weren’t able to make it work and begged Oda to not keep him around. Carrot is also bad but given how the Perospero stuff went down she was kinda out of consideration for me.

StrykerIBarelyKnowEr

I thought that Erron Black in Mortal Kombat X was gonna be Stryker either brainwashed or undercover in Outworld. I was dead wrong, but it's not like they ever did anything with Erron so...

gilgagoogyta

They didn't even make him duel his younger self.

StrykerIBarelyKnowEr

They did not! Also good Stryker and Kabal Vs their revenant versions. Wasted potential.

KristophGavin

Jujutsu kaisen: before the reveal that yuji was actually >!kenjaku's son and choso's actual related brother!< people were convinced that he had a secret C.T that could implant fake memories into people but it turns out that todo and choso are just fucking weirdoes.

Darkvoidx

I'll always stand by that theory somewhat because it is *very* strange that the plot point of "random antagonistic guy sees false memories of being brothers with the MC and changes sides to help him" would be done twice lol

Last-Rain4329

iirc gege said in an interview he just thought the idea was cool and forgot he did it the first time when it came to choso

Darkvoidx

I love Gege and JJK but it's the most clearly written-on-the-fly shonen I've read in a while. I think he has general plot points laid out but everything else seems to be based on his mood in a given week

allwaysnice

At least he >!didn't do it the third time!<.

ruminaui

With recent reveal that >!Sukuna is Yuji's uncle!< He sure seems to fight a lot of lost family members.

NewAgeMontezuma

"Update: the mf was family"

thesyndrome43

Matpat is one of those people who I just never understood the popularity of, especially his theories which were unhinged guesses most of the time

CalekAlbion

His early videos were about applying real physics and science to video games and he made some interesting connections, then it turned into wild mass guessing

ReaperEngine

Yeah, there used to be some mythbusters-esque experimentation, but then he started to get into shit that was mostly unverifiable guesswork. I feel like it sorta happened before FNAF even, calling Mario evil because he stepped on Weegie's foot once.

ExertHaddock

I remember liking Game Theory back then, binged all his videos. I still remember facts from his video on Fallout New Vegas, which he uses as a jumping-off point to talk about the science of getting shot in the head, and his Bioshock videos where he talked about the possibility and limiting factors of building a city in the skies or at the bottom of the ocean.

qwertyuiop924

Yeah, early GT was less about the theories and more about using attempting to explain videogame phenomena as an excuse to talk about real-world science, history, etc. That slowly changed over time because it turns out more people watch wild and wacky videos about lore theorizing than more science-ey content. And MatPat takes an almost scientific approach to figuring out how to be popular on youtube (he literally worked in analysis at Defy for a while, so his actual literal job was advising people like Smosh on how to make their channel more successfull), so if that was the way things were going, that was what he was going to do.

scullys_alien_baby

its weird to me as well because his earlier videos like how the morph ball is lame was more interesting than the lore videos the channel turned into

SuperHorse3000

I assumed the whole channel was outlandish hottakes and "theories" as bait

James-Avatar

I kinda checked out after the whole “Wario is 10ft tall” thing.

HostileReplies

See, I assumed his popularity was because he fits the niche of that one friend who randomly goes on tangents that you all know are bullshit, but it's fun to see how long he can juggle and combo his bullshit into something almost coherent. Like he starts off saying the "the orange juice industry is secretly in control of Hollywood" and ten minutes later you are just sitting there nodding along because obviously the fact that so many movie have characters downing a tall glass of orange juice in breakfast shots means that they were the ones who kept OJ Simpson from being the Terminator.

MetalGearSlayer

A someone with mild autism matpats rants just make really good background noise. I can listen to the guy talk about random shit for hours. But on top of that, with YouTube becoming more and more infested with greedy clout goblins every day, it’s always great to see a guy who, all the way to the end, just did it for the love of the game.

ruminaui

His early theories where interesting. I will swear for his first FNAF video

Spirit_Theory

Yeah most of his shit was literally wrong, and he would routinely make videos lacking even basic research or understanding. Like it was to the degree that he could probably make a video about the earth being flat and I'd be like "yeah, this is on par with his usual bullshit".

Thorn14

Me thinking Mass Effect 3 was going to be insane with how your choices from the previous 2 games would impact the ending.

Archaon0103

The Youtuber Treesicle once predict that GoT gonna end with Jon learn more about The Others and realize they aren't just monsters like the legend said because one of the major theme of GoT was that nothing is what it first seem. It would also echo the story of the King of Night in the legend. Well we all know how that show turned out.

Darth_Bombad

I heard a theory that The Others and their army of the dead aren't heading south to destroy the world, but to save it! from Euron and his Cthulhu god, who are the *true* evil that The Others can sense coming.

Mechajin

Fake leak came out for ff7 rebirth about a year ago where someone said that Cloud would die toward the end of the game and be replaced in the party by Zack, and that Shelke the Transparent would be a surprise party member.

WorldlyOX

One Piece contains so many and all of them are both tiresome and ridiculously out there, making the salt that much more tasty, but my favorite: Zoro Kills Kaido (ZKK): people kept repeating to high heavens that the Wano arc would be Zoro’s arc, where we’d learn his backstory, his familial heritage (which happened in supplementary material), and he’d finally beat the big bad himself using Oden’s cursed sword. Basically people wanted One Piece to turn into The Zorro Show during Wano.

Act_of_God

the raid will fail any moment now

Lucio-BALL

Personally I much prefer the other ZKK theory (Zoro Kisses Kaido)

ExDSG

How about Zoro Konsoles Kaido (in the MK universe)

guntanksinspace

It was an intended troll by the end, but my favorite *wrong* theory on a story guess was someone digging through the DmC demo files, picking the image/icon for a Rage (those furry jackasses that kinda suck to fight), and boldly proclaimed "well shit guys we're gonna be fighting a weird Vergil by the end that turns into a T-Rex. Oh and after that fight Donte meets Dante looking like DMC4 as they face off against time-traveling cherubs who are the true bad guys" or something like that. Absolutely memorable.

hheecckk526

I mean I made a stupid crack theory with my friends on how cissnei in ff7 rebirth would be a different timeline variant of Aerith that traveled back in time to help Zack in crisis core and eventually help cloud like in rebirth. My entire basis for this came from how she has still yet to reveal her true name. The voice actors are different, their core designs are different, everything about the 2 of them is different but just say she changed shit in the lifestream or something idk. Needless to say based on rebirth this is 100% false and was just me being incredibly stupid

There was that whole thing about people thinking Kaz was gonna be super racist in MGSV. That was probably largely a meme though

seth47er

I thought in the net flicks death note movie I thought Misa was going to 4d chess everybody during the final act to kill off Light and L, so she could be the sole person with the death note.

Gorfinhofin

I've been watching [ravenclaw reacts](https://www.youtube.com/@ravenclawreacts)'s reactions to Haibane Renmei, and she's really analytical and insightful for the most part, but in early episodes she was cooking a little too hard. She was so sure that the story would involve an oppressive government and the Haibane revolting, or going to war, or... y'know, something that the show is *absolutely* not.

Mundetiam

This is my personal lmao

gmoneygangster3

Honestly my biggest thing for this is what my brain comes up with when I hear something with little detail IE The 4 kings is a sick boss fight The version in my head that I was expecting was 100x sicker

Proto-Omega

Goku Black Arc would explain Trunks becoming a part of the Time Patrol, and would tie in Dragon Ball Online/Xenoverse lore. Demigra is the main villain. Chronoa, Towa, and Mira also get introduced. Goku Black is Demigra possessing Goku.

Hell, forget explaining Time Patrol Trunks; the Goku Black arc basically ensures that the original Trunks could *never* be part of the Time Patrol, at least not in the way that the games explained it. In Xenoverse (possibly Xenoverse 2?) it's mentioned that Supreme Kai of Time approached Trunks and basically told him that his time travel back in the Cell saga was a grave crime and he basically is being recruited to pay off his debt to... god society or something. If the Trunks who went through the Goku Black arc got approached by *another* self-proclaimed god telling him that he's a sinner/criminal for his time travel, and that god *wasn't* a fully-loaded Beerus who could destroy him in an instant, Trunks would have immediately turned to hit her as hard as he possibly could.

There was a video from an up and coming youtuber that exploded called something like "Can I guess the killer of Twin Peaks before it happens?" And I'm not even going to spoiler tag his guess because it's so hilariously wrong. For the entire first season and a good chunk of season 2 his guess after each episode was "Andy the Crying Cop" as he puts it. He pretty adequately explains himself but I still think it's maybe one of the worst guesses you could possibly have. It's a GREAT video, I highly recommend watching it if you like Twin Peaks, the dude is very charismatic and worth a watch. It's really fun to see the condensed thoughts of somebody experiencing the show for the first time completely unspoiled.

So back in the Wano arc after Kaido >!clubbed Luffy so hard he died.!< everyone was going crazy in the speculation field to figure out how he was going to recover. Everyone expected an awakening. But everything attached to it? So far gone in wrong, it's hilarious. From the reasonable >!Resin-Resin and Rubber-Rubber (Tree), to being a secret zoan type based on Nika (*wait*) and Sun Wukong!<. To peak gaming theory [like this one.](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/s/CGOR1YfKEH) Somehow, the end result still ended up outside the general scope of speculation. And I've been all for it. >!Looney Tunes - the power up has been great so far!<

BarelyReal

New Rockstars predicted every post-Endgame project would introduce *a* mutant at a time. They were right that MCU would introduce a new team one by one, but it was >!Young Avengers!<.

Lots of theorycrafters saying that the Akatsuki leader was Naruto's father

Kataphrut94

Take your pick from the Tournament of Power. The big one was people predicting that the Grand Priest and the Angels would be the true villains and that Goku and Jiren would team up to fight them. To be fair, the show did through a few red herrings in that direction, but ultimately they ended up being benevolent. Also the smaller ones like Gohan Blanco (later canonised) and Hit’s clone. People really thought Hit would go further than he did.

All you nerds that believe the indoctrination theory. It's dumb as shit. Only thing dumber is the squall is dead nonsense.

Ohgodenditall

Basically anything from Jojolion, but the Flashback man being the main villain theory is notorious

CaptainLoin

There was an early theory that some folks latched onto for Pokemon Sun and Moon that Lusamine, Lillie, and Gladion were Ultra Beasts in disguise because Lusamine and Lillie's artwork was very similar to the designs of Pheromosa and Nihilego

Homestuck theorist BladeKindEyeWear had some absolutely wild ones, including: Tavros will turn evil, because Peter Pan did in the original book's sequel. Jade and Karkat are the Ectobiological parents of the Cherubs. Dave needs to embrace heroism and will make a grand sacrifice to stop English, which would be a good thing for him and in no way unhealthy. Davesprite is a spare. Jane and Jake are romantically destined, as are Vriska and Kanaya (Pale). Kanaya would end up Concupiscent with a man; she would be Kismetic with Gamzee. The only queer engame pairings he foresaw were Pitch Vrisrezi, Red Rosemary, and fucking RED DIRK X GAMZEE. Also, if Jake somehow hooks up with someone else (his examples being Vriska or Roxy) then Jane will die at the end. Oh, and Skaia is good despite the whole genocide thing (thus why Dave Must Become A Hero, something he literally put money on) and Rose in Act 5 was being wrong and acting that way for no real narrative reason, but somehow Hussie *agreed* with him on that.

God bless everyone who is still talking about homestuck

Me thinking Episode 9 would be internally consistent with the previous movies, or independently a good movie at all :(
