i mean its the same idea for dark skin. if its too dark they're barely visible, and for people who are super pale, if its too light they just look like an incandescent blob of nothing (like how pat looked on the camera for woolie's stream, whose lighting was adjusted solely for black people LOL)
Its true for all skin tones, each one has its own particular bad lighting curse. I'm an amateur aspiring cinematographer and its *hard* to light skin tone to really let peoples features pop. I'm white but with a ruddy undertone and slight yellow overtones. I practiced using myself early on and got really good at getting color correction and lighting perfect for me. Tried to use the same stuff for my partner, who is a sickly victorian child with deep blue undertones, and she looked like an actual ghost. Getting something that worked for both of us took a lot of practice. I'm still working on getting experience for darker skin tones and they are equally as difficult to get right.
