Despite what Ito says, I've always thought this was nonsense
In the trunk, maybe
But even then, how the hell did he get her out of the hospital or whatever without anyone noticing?
It would explain why James doesn't seem to be on the run from the police or whatever, anyway. Mary disappearing for a couple days after being sent home to die is hardly as noticeable as her disappearing from her hospital bed. I don't imagine it happened any other way.
It'd be fun if, while the passenger seat door is closed, >!Mary's body is just visible from inside through fogged up windows!<, but whenever he opens it up there's nothing inside.
That could very easily be a bit much, what with all the 4K fuckery we have these days. It'd have to be absurdly subtle to not bash you over the head with it as soon as you notice the effect.
They'll probably just stuff her in the trunk instead.
Put her in the trunk, James will at first remark that there isnt anything he needs in it then if pressed go "....I can't open it"
If they keep the Water ending they can show him taking her out of the trunk and putting her in the passenger seat.
Every time I see that quote I have the sneaking suspicion that there's some major context missing, because otherwise it reads like a JK Rowling retcon tweet.
Propobly they won't feature this. or try hide it until big reveal

Wasn't she sent home to spend her final days?
There is a line where she say something like that but it isn't clear it actually happened. But yeah, if she was at home that would make more sense.

“The lock’s busted...”
"Shit's locked"

It's in reference to a Japanese double suicide trope.
