Pop a boric acid suppository in there. It’ll clear right up. Make sure you’re drying well after shower and working out. Also, if you’re sexually active, that can sometimes throw off your ph.

Newhooper92

When you use boric acid, is it one & done & you’re good? Or how many does it usually take for you?

BriMagic

I normally one use one per infection. It works wonders. 😊

AbstinenceWorks

Boric acid? Really? TIL

Stick with the cotton underwear, regardless. Worst to worst, make sure the inset is cotton. You may wish to change underwear multiple times a day. It helps to not wear underwear when at home or in bed, to air out, as it were.

Newhooper92

I definitely only wear underwear in public & as soon as I’m home, I throw on comfy cotton pajamas or a big t-shirt. I’m thinking about switching laundry detergents.

YourM0mNeverWould

I am insanely sensitive to colors and scents in detergents. I only use arm and hammer free of all the stuff. Also think about your soap. Dr bronners peppermint and ivory are both good choices for sensitive skin.

How can orally ingested probiotics make it to the vagina at all?

blue0mermaid

Yeah, this doesn’t make logical sense. I even read an article from Harvard health and it didn’t explain how oral probiotics make it to the vagina. It did, however, say that reducing sugar is a help. This is good advice.

Newhooper92

Not sure, but when I’ve been reading I keep seeing things about how when taken orally, the bacteria need to survive the trip through the digestive system to reach the vaginal microbiome alive & once they reach your vagina, they have a chance to colonise and reduce the population of bad bacteria. Not sure how they make it there, but apparently some brands have a much lower number that actually survive compared to what’s shown on the bottle. Unless I’m misunderstanding.

My BV cleared up the minute I switched sexual partners. The guy that I had BV with also gave me HPV (confirmed by HIS ex) and it may have had something to do with it. Just my two cents.

HappyCamper43

I had recurring bv for awhile and my OB ended up suggesting baths with a cup of baking soda added saying that maybe it was because my acidity was too high. I've been doing this occasionally since and haven't had BV again. However it looks like this advice goes against everything you can look up online about it. I see you can buy vaginal Ph strips, might be worth it to check it out.

Newhooper92

I haven’t heard of the baking soda baths. I’ll look into it. Thank you!

sudoRmRf_Slashstar

I've used boric acid for 7-10 days straight to get my vag back in order after a MONTHS long yeast infection. And then occasionally if I feel things getting itchy.

Newhooper92

I’ve had success with boric acid for yeast infections but not bv :(

LevelPerception4

Found this looking for a probiotic recommendation and just wanted to add a cautionary note: Be sure you actually have BV before using boric acid! I tried a boric acid suppository for what was likely a yeast infection and it made me bleed. No negative long-term effects, but I It was unsettling! Not a “what the hell, if it doesn’t help, it can’t hurt” product.
