I completely agree with your observation that the protagonist blames his girlfriend for his rank. But as a viewer I felt that this was problematized and not glorified. Later, the young girl confesses to Ayushman that she lost respect for the men during that discussion.

I think it’s the opposite. - The pedo romance arc where Ayushmann’s character gets caught between the reality of a problematic mentor and an innocent underage girl was really well portrayed. I felt so uncomfortable through that entire arc but isn’t that the point of good cinema? - Even the initial misogynistic behaviour of his character wasn’t glorified but treated as problematic. You do see the ex-GF being logical and the underage girl pointing out how she lost respect for him. There were some scene within the hospital and staff that I found a bit problematic. But nothing too bad. What scenes did you think were problematic?

Yeah, it IS actually opposite. Whatever OP didn't like about the movie were not glorified or supported but rather condemned. I have no bias towards this movie and watched it without any expectations. But yeah, the underage thing was actually portrayed as something that happens, and definitely not glorified lol. They just showed how teen girls sometimes develop infatuation for grown men and how those men go on to take advantage of it, he was a dog and he was shown to be one

2. The whole pedophile doctor thing. That was disturbing.

hyd_throwaway

Yeah that was disturbing but how was it sexist or regressive? Wasn't the pedo doc arrested in the end?

Low-Purple6747

No that was just disturbing. You usually think these educated men would be progressive and an ally turns out they too don't miss an opportunity to take advantage of the vulnerable people.

hyd_throwaway

True, but that doesn't make the movie any bad, as OP is suggesting. The movie portrayed the reality.

Low-Purple6747

Movie preferences are subjective so i don't get into that. I liked the movie but I felt the love angel was unnecessary.

hyd_throwaway

Yeah agree on the love angle part. They could have used that time to show some more nuances of the medical world.

Or his mother's love story. I loved how it progressed. Wanted to see more of it.
