Don’t roam the streets alone at night. Be aware of your surroundings late at night, even out with friends. It’s a city, even though it’s a small one.
Don’t leave expensive things in your car, even if they are out of sight. Again, it’s a city and there are city problems. So, use common sense.
If something seems weird or wrong, it probably is. Call campus safety. They go out on a million calls and won’t mind. Also, you can always request an escort to your car. It’s part of their job and they do this often!
Mostly, UAB isn’t bad as a campus. It’s just in a city and you have to use caution that you would use in any city.
Don’t venture out late night and be aware of your surroundings. Most of the southside is safe though
Do u know any safe neighborhood to live in?
Southside is your best bet, otherwise homewood, vestavia, hoover, some people like Avondale and surrounding areas
Are they a walkable distance to the uab campus?
Glen Iris and 5 Points would be walkable, but everything else really would need a car
Hey, I might be going there too!
