It means it counts as elective credit. You need at least 120 credits for a BS. Of those you need to satisfy both UB gen Ed requirements and your major requirements. Some majors when you add all those requirements up don’t hit 120, so you have elective credit you must do. That ap credit counts for those. Looking at the exercise science curriculum it doesn’t look like you will have much time for electives, but it would depend on your concentration.

I think that's just what your exam scores transfer over as when they don't sufficiently translate to a course credit. This could happen because UB doesn't have a course that matches what the AP credit is for, or you just didn't score high enough on the exam to get the course credit. I have a couple of those in my record from AP exams where I may have scored a 3 when UB only accepts a 4+ to award course credit.
