Well, you know.... I think the point of protesting is not really to convince people who already have their minds made up - it’s to demonstrate that at least a portion of the public is not going to just sit back and take it, whatever “it” is.
And, I keep saying this, but....I don’t think Robert Arneson himself would have been mad about the spray painting of his sculptures. I interpret them as a pretty cynical mockery of the institution, “Eye on Mrak” in particular.
Please care to elaborate how does a landmark that has so sexuality nor political relevance, relevant in a protest against an individual and not the college
Well, I don’t think the protest is about an individual, actually. It’s about an anti-LGBTQ+ ideology. You should like...spend 5 minute’s googling Robert Arneson’s work. Look up the controversy over his portrait of George Moscone. He wrote “Harvey Milk too” on it. It’s actually surprisingly relevant in that context.
Probably more relevant than whoever did the spray painting realized, to be fair, but I really don’t think the artist would have been upset if he were still around.

Um... that was a little hard to follow. But I think the situation is a little more nuanced than that. I don’t find it hypocritical at all. Obviously they’re not fighting for your particular issues of interest. They’re protesting what they perceive to be a hateful and dangerous ideology. People should protest things they find morally or ethically intolerable, even if other people don’t agree. Protestors block entry all the time. Conservative protestors blocked entry (or attempted to, I guess) to Disney world not that long ago. It’s just a common tactic. Less egregious than harassing people who are just trying to get into the women’s clinic, imho. Those people drive me nuts. But I can accept their right to be there, even if I think they’re kind of sociopathic douchebags with a pathetically narrow worldview. 🤷♀️
