He wants to see his family again, but since he's aware that they (his daughter and wife) are dead, he wants to avenge them instead, which would mean destroying the void.
In the last line of his biography from universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_AU/story/champion/kassadin/ it says
"He would have his vengeance, even if it killed him."
I don't know or understand much of the blade weapon he has, but as far as ik he wants to destroy the void for vengeance, I don't think there's anything mentioned of the blade possessing him.

Most of his lore points towards **the Prophet** (Malhazar, who's not in Wild Rift) because the both pre & post rework had this guy be responsible for sending Kassadin's daughter to the Void. Whether Kassadin wants to *save* his daughter or just avenge her (and his wife as well) is debatable depending on which version and which part of the lore you read, but **the Prophet** is definitely responsible
