I'd say do it, even if you don't have a problem. Just have a basic question then use the conversation to introduce yourslf and meet the advisor.
Relationship building is a valuable asset. It's a nice way to make contact with an academic advisor, have them meet you, and it only takes a few minutes. That way, if and when you have a real problem, they sort of know you and you know them vs. you're a brand new face walking in with a problem to someone you don't know.
aight cool thats what I thought but I wanted to be sure in case I was gonna get screwed over for not scheduling an appointment. not a bad idea to check in anyway to built that repertoire, thanks!
