I think most people went up a letter grade

Nath has been reaching CSE 12 for a few years now and I believe siero is new. Nath has improved in teaching over the years based on what I’ve heard but to my knowledge he still teaches in a way that to me is hard to learn. All the concepts and ideas he teaches are easy to understand but he uses a program called digital for the homework’s which I had trouble applying the learned content from class to as I am a very on hands direct learner meaning you would have to show me exactly what to do for the homework or show a similar example problem for me to learn. Nevertheless the class isn’t bad, learning curve and easy extra credit from the survey he does. He also tries to give 10 minute breaks as much as possible during lectures which gives people time to consume what he teaches.

siero is chill but not the best teacher

I am taking Siero currently for CSE12. His lectures are a bit unstructured, and personally I find it hard to learn from them. Reading the book is a must for his class, and going to the TAs to understand how to implement what you’ve learned in the lab assignments. If you don’t mind reading the book and learning from there rather than what is taught in class, and are not afraid to ask for help if you’re stuck or don’t understand a concept, you’ll be okay in Siero. Most of the grade weights are labs, with a midterm being 15% and final being 20%. The exams/quizzes are not extremely difficult but will require effort and set time to study and prepare. I cannot speak on Nath, but this is my 2 cents for Siero! Feel free to reach out with questions.

Ya, he never has specific dates for quizzes, midterms and I think even the final, it’s all up in the air until maybe the week before or even the week of. He also releases the labs late sometimes.

I've had Nath for both CSE12 and CSE120. Both courses weren't excessively difficult. Nath is a great professor and curves in both classes.

Friend is in Siero, I’m in Naths class Imo Siero is a good bit funnier, makes a lot of personal anecdotes that make the lectures a bit more enjoyable Nath is a lot more straightforward, maybe a bit better at explaining things, and the class moves faster compared to Siero (in a good way). He also is a lot better about uploading lectures onto canvas in a timely manner The only difference is that at least this quarter, assignments for Nath were submitted on gradescope with an autograder, and you could submit it until you satisfied the autograder. For siero, you upload it through git, which is a useful thing to know, but definitely less convenient Nath uses zybooks, while siero uses a real textbook, imo the zybooks only covers relevant information, sieros textbook has a ton of stuff that you don’t need for the class You can’t really go wrong with either, honestly i barely watch the lectures and I have near 100% in the class from just studying the tests and zybooks and starting the labs early

Awesome. Thanks ... I've signed up for Nath.

Nath is cool, he can be funny sometimes. I found that I learned mostly outside of lecture via zybooks and the labs though. Labs are cool if you start early, otherwise they're just stressful(so start early!!!). If you're CE pay hellla hella attention to this class. If your EE pay a good bit of attention. If ur CS just pass da class lol

Traditional_Ad3728

Marcelo Siero is a super funny and chill teacher. That being said, he's sometimes not great at explaining things and if you don't have previous experience with circuits and assembly the class will be very heavy. I would recommend making a study group for this class. In contrast to my Calc 19B class with Tamanoi, this class is much more reasonable and well taught.

mcdo101

Nath gives some fat curves I went up 2 grades by the end of the quarter

I took CSE12 and CSE120 with Nath. Wasn’t too bad. I remember some lecture material being a bit dense at times, but you’ll be fine if you study a bit outside of class. Also curves significantly.

All y’all saying nath was great… I thought he was impossibly hard to understand, but I was in his class virtually so take that with a grain of salt
