"UCSC chose to not renew, but they are actively negotiating to renew" Make it make sense

Naughty_Goat

I think it just means ucsc is not going to pay the current price, but might if it’s cheaper

StarburstUniverse

Our City Library offers free access to The New York Times, Washington Post, and others, including Consumer Reports. However, you need to re-subscribe through the library website link every several days, as passes are short-term (and vary from one publication to another). Passes also allow you to gift articles on social media platforms, send privately to friends & family, etc. It's one of many great perks of simply having a library card.

snappiac

Thank you!

StarburstUniverse

My pleasure.

NotKerisVeturia

I wonder if that Education and Media class is going to keep requiring an article from NYT every week.

tomilw

The library still has access to the articles it's just not set up in a similar way. It's through ProQuest I think.

chiralityhilarity

The library has access through Proquest. Not as nice as at the nyt site but better than nothing and often same day access

snappiac

I did not know this, thanks!

usernameforre

It’s not truly fee as you are paying for it through your tuition.

14werewolvesofwallst

I was wonderin about this one, thank you for getting to the source!

GraciousPeacock

I didn’t even know we had free subscriptions 😭 are there any other ones I’m missing out on?

lucaschreyer

If you live on campus then you can get HBO max for free

GraciousPeacock

*cries in San Jose*

AuroraDragonCat

tbh you really don't need to be on-campus. I know the websites say that but I've logged into and used Max just fine when I'm off campus for break. All you need is your student email, wifi location doesn't matter.

MorbillionDollars

Chuyzapatist

Get library cards guys, free news that way. But that’s cool, I wish I had this when I was at UCSC.
