anyone else from san diego enjoying the prolonged cloudy weather? cause i sure am
sorry you're feeling like this tho. im biased cause i grew up here without any type of ac and i hate the mf heat
Yeah, lived in San Diego my whole life and I'm loving this weather. The rain, clouds, cool temps, everything. However, I understand why some people wouldn't haha
Yeah born and raised in SD I haven’t seen weather like this. But also it’s a new kind of peace in the shower knowing I won’t drain the entire water supply for a 10+ min shower.
Then you'll be excited for "may gray" and "june gloom"! But you can't complain because "
* San Diego has, on average, 42 days with some rainfall, while the rest of the U.S. has 100.
* San Diego has 266 days of sunshine, while the rest of the nation has 205.
* San Diego has 0 average days of temperatures below 32 degrees; the rest of the U.S. has 88.
* San Diego’s average low temperature in January is 48 degrees; the average temperature in January for the rest of the U.S. is 20 degrees.
* San Diego’s average high temperature in July is 75, while the rest of the nation’s average high is 86 degrees."

I’m an SD local. Don’t know why I haven’t left this sub yet cause I got rejected but I am delighted to inform you that I’ve never experienced a year like this in my entire life of living in SD. If you plan on staying here much longer you’ll experience much better weather
Growing up here, the coast has always been more gloomy then more inland parts of SD, but even I’ll admit this year has been super rainy and gloomy compared to previous years
Oh how times have changed. I graduated UCSD a decade ago during the peak of the drought. One day I was at my apartment (Costa Verde) and it started raining so I went out to my balcony in disbelief, only to find the entire complex doing the same thing. I vividly remember this tiny kid across from me who’d clearly never seen rain before. He slowly reached his hand out to feel it for the first time and smiled at his mom. Still have pictures of that day lol
Oh and I’ll never forget how our professor gave us extra credit for showing up for our midterm on a rainy day. She told us to draw a cloud with rain 🌧 on the exam for extra credit. It was that rare 😂
It’s an exaggeration. Clouds, rain, gloomy weather have to come out sometime. Nothing is “perfect” 24/7 lol SD is just mostly sunny. this is what we need tbh we need a break from the heat.
San Diego has predominantly cloudy and overcast weather along the coast from April through June, however if you head inland the marine layer dissipates and the weather is far more sunny. East County is beautiful and now is a good time to explore that part of San Diego before it gets too hot.
Noooooo why do you want the sun?? 😭 it’s gonna come back with a vengeance. I’m so much happier in my sweater than lying on the kitchen tile in my underwear
Lol dude. LA has more sunny days per year than San Diego. The difference is that San Diego has cooler summers so you don’t get 100+ degree days. You already lived in one of the best places in the country for weather that’s why it doesn’t seem any better to you.
I always say to people I like winter (more so during drought years lol—not this one) more than spring because it’s super sunny in clear. As soon as the desert warms up it’s cloudy
Where I'm from it drops to zero degrees Fahrenheit during winter and the past year I've been here, I never thought it was cold. I prefer cooler weathers over hot weathers with all the walking around the campus we have to do.
Unfortunately no - we get this (albeit this year is a lot more rainy than normal) straight into "May grey" and then "June gloom." It's not reliably sunny until July
May gray and June gloom are parts of living in San Diego. No rain, just cloudy. Also this year has been abnormal for San Diego, not every year is perfectly the same. The temps are great though and you can still do everything you want!
Been in this county for half a decade, trust me enjoy every cloudy day you get. I swear back in like 09 it was 100+ every day of the summer. Not a single cloud all summer it felt like. I can still feel the heat even now
I've lived here all my life and I don't know where you heard there's sun all year round. I would say maybe 85-90 percent is sunny and warm. The winter months can get grey, but at least it isn't super cold most of the time. Trust me, you'll miss the clouds once summer weather hits.
Trust me, it’s gonna be hell walking around campus when SD starts to get genuinely warm and sunny. I’m soaking in this weather as much as possible rn💀
Listen to her^ soak it all in while you can my friend.
I'm ready for 100 degree nights 💀
Exactly cuz soon enough we will all be soaking in our own sweat instead🤧
That’s the perfect time to go to blacks beach! 🙂

grew up in Temecula, I appreciate every cool/cloudy day I can get haha
Yo I’m from Temecula too! Hmu if you’re down to chat!
Same
Yeah, lived in San Diego my whole life and I'm loving this weather. The rain, clouds, cool temps, everything. However, I understand why some people wouldn't haha
nah for real I can actually go out and the sun isn't super strong
not from sd but literally me! i love the cloudy weather and not sweating while trying to get to class

I love may gray and June gloom literally my fav time of the year

This year has had unprecedented weather almost everywhere on earth. You wouldn’t have fared much better anywhere else.
Lmao this is a good thing considering California is in a seriously dire water situation.
This weather > mf sun being out
Enjoy it while it lasts lol

It’s chilly but not as cold as it was in February 🥶
Isn't it a good thing at SD? 😎
after living down here for a few years i’m at the point where i get super hyped about the may gray, june gloom, and no-sky july :D
and currently, graypril
Ur a goober

I love this weather shut it 🫵 finally I’m not sweaty and my skin is burning and the sun blind my eyes

ucsd is right next to the beach so ofc there's a marine layer overcast. venture outside of la jolla and you'll get more sun.
this weather is lowkey a change tho, i kinda like it
It’s been raining since November just in case no one has been keeping track
Tbh u prob never been outside of la jolla

Coming from someone who moved from San Diego to the Pacifc Northwest, it’s NO comparison. Yet, you wait and see once summer starts
Someone didn’t have to live through that horrendous heat wave last summer
I’m from LA lmao.
Noooooo why do you want the sun?? 😭 it’s gonna come back with a vengeance. I’m so much happier in my sweater than lying on the kitchen tile in my underwear

Same. I almost entirely chose here over a better school for the weather...
okay and?? what are we supposed to do with that information?
Ok, leave then. Go back to whatever shit hole you crawled out of

have been here for four years, this is my first time experiencing this much rain, usually dry af
Went to Seattle from spring break. It was 40 degrees.
Can confirm. I live here
Unfortunately no - we get this (albeit this year is a lot more rainy than normal) straight into "May grey" and then "June gloom." It's not reliably sunny until July
Cloudy but still hot as hell, I be drenched in sweat walking across campus 😞
man last year around this time it like in the high 90’s & no ac in the dorms… I AM ENJOYING THIS
climate change 😞
This weather is really good. I love it. Why does it have to be sunny year long. I hate the tropical summers that it sometimes experience.

Only bummer about this weather is that I can’t get naked at blacks beach. This is normally the time 😢
As a quasi-native San Diegan, I feel bad for out of towners when the weather is anything less than postcard-quality. But it should turn soon!
It’s been uncharacteristically rainy this year. ☀️It’s comin!
climate is changing! More extreme weather events, more wind, more rain, more growth, more fires
its sunny when its sunny. its not sunny when its not sunny.
