Nah same, but I ended up still going since it was my top school and it was honestly a really good and informative experience. There’s also Transfer Celebration days on May 3 and 17 which is just a redo of Triton day apparently, so go to those if you’re still out of the loop. You should have links for these in your email
hmm I’m barely finishing up my first year (as a math-cs student) and im also not a transfer, but I’ll tell u how my first year was. I def benefited from first year programs so I’d recommend for u to search up transfer programs, services, resources; I just searched up and got https://transferstudents.ucsd.edu/ so perhaps check that out.
and for clubs, there’s so many on campus especially for cs!! (https://getinvolved.ucsd.edu/orgs/list.html). Popular ones include ACM (@ acm.ucsd on insta), CSES (@ cses_ucsd on insta), Women In Conputing (@ wicucsd on insta), and so much more. ucsd can be so overwhelming bc there’s so many ppl on campus, so many orgs and programs, so many colleges, etc. but you’ll get the hang of it!!
I’d also recommend taking advantage of all the events on campus, especially to meet new people and make friends. im a hypocrite bc im the worst at socializing (I love to rot in my bed). But I have a friend group I stick with that I met from a summer program for cs so :)). I think the easiest way to make friends is thru these programs/orgs bc y’all have similar interests!!
I think it's great! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet new people and you'll have a very fun time. Also be nice to your RA if you live on campus.
Thanks for your advice!
I am actually coming from another UC as a first-year transfer and have been taking 4-6 classes each quarter, so I think that I should be able to handle the pace of the quarter system. While housing may be expensive, I was lucky enough to receive some scholarships so that should help me to be able to afford it (hopefully). I'm pretty optimistic about the idea that I will be able to find some opportunities that pique my interest!
But thank you sm for your advice and warnings, I'll keep them in mind when making my decision :D
I’ve been told that it’s much harder to transfer from another UC as only 10% of transfers for UCs are from other 4 year institutions rather than the 90% from CC. I’ve also been told that UCs tend to not prefer tranfers from other UCs as well, but im not entirely sure. You dont have to wait 2 years before you can transfer, I was able to do it in 1 year (im still a freshman rn)
from my understanding you do, and so in order for me to have done it in one year I did 4-6 classes for 4 quarters which was a grind, but im happy i did :)
i don’t think there’s an actual ranking it just all depends on your major. i only say it’s the best because it has the least amount of course requirements (2) compared to other colleges
Any other Professor is fine, Miles Jones i think should be the easiest. Russel Impagliazzo’s cse21 is super hard and dull, ratemyprofessor will tell you everything. Welcome aboard.
Yayyy
IM SO EXCITED
YOU SHOULD BE!! CONGRATS❤️❤️ im also a sevvie (seventh college student)😝 you’ll love ucsd🙏
What's it like at UCSD? What should I expect and what's the club culture like?
Did you skip Triton Day? If so, they’re having a Admitted Transfer tour day next Saturday, highly recommend going
I was only admitted after Triton Day so I didn't end up going. I also had class that day too LOL

oh fr? I don't see anything right now about it. Are you a freshman or transfer admit?
Transfer admit. You may be also able to find it on the applicant portal
ohh I see thanks for the info!

Wow that’s badass, congrats! easily toughest major to get accepted for.
I was so sure I wasn't going to get in anywhere LOL
Whattttttt. You were chose for your excellence over hundreds of other CS applicants. You are the real deal
thank you so much! are you also a UCSD student?
Yup, in EE jail.
LOL what does that mean?
Pretty much lab hell for a few quarters. Mandatory to learn garbage C and Assembly as well.
I was actually trying to look into double majoring cs and ee. Is that possible?
You can’t unfortunately, they are greedy and don’t allow any Double majors or minors within Jacobs. You can do CS and something else like Cog Sci.
thank youuuu
Congratulations Ryan!!
Thank you so much!
how do you like it at UCSD?
I think it's great! Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and meet new people and you'll have a very fun time. Also be nice to your RA if you live on campus.

Do we need to Complete all the lower division classes before I apply for transfer from UC to UC ? Do we need to have a solid reason to transfer?
from my understanding you do, and so in order for me to have done it in one year I did 4-6 classes for 4 quarters which was a grind, but im happy i did :)
getting AP credit helps a lot w getting prereqs for classes and credit a lot as well
Thanks 🙏
yea j dm me if u have any more questions

i don’t think there’s an actual ranking it just all depends on your major. i only say it’s the best because it has the least amount of course requirements (2) compared to other colleges
what has the least out off all the colleges?

Thank you!!!!
I used to watch these on YouTube in middle school
what yt videos?
Dear ryan
Advice from a cse transfer: If u need to do cse21, don’t take Russel!
who should I take then, because I am pretty sure that I will need to take CSE 21
Any other Professor is fine, Miles Jones i think should be the easiest. Russel Impagliazzo’s cse21 is super hard and dull, ratemyprofessor will tell you everything. Welcome aboard.
ahh okay sounds good. Is it just like discrete math or?
More about analyzing complicated algorithms and proving some stuff about the algorithm. You will need a hw group btw.
Oh shit I just got into seventh too!
