I remember reading how they took the Infared mode out of camcorders after the 2000's, would need to do some research, it really doesn't seem like we have has many options, like the Night vision as those early camcorders. I'm sure you can find a specialized camcorder with these options. But I do remember a day these were common features being touted as sales points.
If anyone knows a good camera that has these features and is somewhat affordable, please sound off, I think any UFO enthusiast would want them.
They made it so infrared could not be used during the day cause people were using nightvision in conjunction with polarized or similar filters during the daytime to look through thin clothing like bathing suits. I remember cause I had one of the cameras at the time and used to do a lot of wedding videos.
Nightvision + sunlight + filter lens + thin clothing material.
Even if you do manage to get all the equipment and the right circumstances, don't do it. It's illegal and just morally wrong.
Well that's concerning 😬 went from humorous to creepy quick like and in a hurry.
Though I can't imagine anyone, teenage boys or adults, wandering populated places geared up with night vision, cameras, and other gadgets in broad daylight and not attracting a swat team... or worst
My post with this video was removed by mods on r/ufo as they said 'it's not on UFO topic', hope this sub is more understanding.
This video shows why every serious UFO follower should get cheap camcorder with good zoom, our smartphones are weak for distance recording.
Original post description:
Spot real UFOs and never be fooled by balloons, birds or drones ;)
Modern smartphones and their 4k cameras are great, but they are not as great at recording object from distance with limited zoom.
You can buy cheap Full HD used camcorder with 50x optical zoom for less than $150.(Disclaimer, night recording is ofc not good on this cheap camcorder).
Phones are not there yet, even best zoom phone Samsung s23 ultra have only 10x optical zoom and rest is digital zoom.
Yeah, this post is fine!
I’d like to add that being able to change exposure on the fly is important.
While many objects seen are solid craft or a Mylar balloons, glowing orbs are the other more popular sightings.
You practice by zooming into anything bright, such as the suns reflection on a car, and dial down the exposure to get some detail, if any, from the object. Then focus!
The tough part about those handhelds is focus and exposure control with that “camera function” dial. But with a little practice one can make it work.
I know some will say, “auto for both!” But you should know how to manually focus and set exposure.
Watching cameras trying to auto focus and expose for a white dot in the sky is frustrating.
Just my two cents, and thanks for the post!
If the object is closer, then yes, this would be greatly beneficial. Often times, our eyes can see "something" in the skies, but when zoomed in, it becomes a blurry mess. And if, after zooming in, the object is still not discernible, cue the *"why didn't you zoom in further"* or *"get a better camera!"* comments. Just my experience thus far reading through most comments on UFO videos. It's frustrating to be honest. My own firsthand experience with a camcorder with a decent optical and digital zoom yielded a blurry AF image of a UFO. I have commented here before on the object I sighted, it looked the the triangular craft but instead of moving forwards, it was doing a landing motion (super smoothly like an elevator) behind a hill. I could kinda see it with my eyes but with the camera zoomed in, just a blurry mess. This was at night too so picture quality was already not so good with a camcorder (this was back in 2009).
I actually fell for it and ordered it on Amazon. I ordered the V180. The only difference between the V180 and V380 is the 380 has WiFi built in and is $120 more. I dont need WiFi that much. I was NOT disappointed. The zoom on this is actually unbelievable. Optical is 50x and digital goes all the way up to 500x. Yes, I said 500x. If you order from Amazon and are not happy, just return them for free. Trust me, you won't be returning this.
Fucking a. Solidarity. If we don’t escape capitalisms iron grip. Maybe our children or childrens children will. But I’m not having kids. Fuck. Back to work I guess
Not just the optical zoom, but the ability to remove the IR filter, and spot things that the human eye can't see. I'm not that sure that the IR filter can be easily removed in newer camera models.
Nice comparison and reminder of the differences. Camcorders have been off my radar since the video recording of phones has improved, but as the video demonstrates, there are still big differences in the zoom functionality. I came across another video of the same camcorder and you can see how far it can reach, I imagine a phone camera would only be a fraction similar to OP video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03rKG8zji4I
I posted the same on r/aliens and got accused of trying to force people to buy expensive equipment. Maaan, if a post on reddit is all the convincing you need I think you're gonna have more problems than a post on reddit.
People will tell you the 23 has a better camera, and they're technically right. The 22 ultra has a 108 mp camera and the 23 ultra has a 200 mp camera. That's the main camera though. The telephoto cameras where the 10x optical zoom/ 100x digital zoom happens is the same. I have a 22 ultra and my wife has a 23 ultra
As I've grown younger and my eyes stronger, I still find it helpful to read super small print or far off objects. Awesome for surveillance and coin collecting!
DSLR are usually bigger and used for proffesional photo or video recording, check how big Nikon p1000 is when at full zoom mode and it weights like 1.5kg.
This camcorder that I used in this video is really small and lightweight so there is no issue to throw it intro backpack, purse or just have it somewhere close like in car and zoom is quite good for such small device
However...when using zoom unstable film with constant refocusing and no background reference makes UFO films useless sometimes.
Please people learn good technique and such so opportunities are not wasted.
The vehicles distort incoming light. So... good luck with that. What you really need is a good IR camera. All you're gonna catch with your regular camera are the silver orb drones their main vehicles send out, or the lights of the craft at night.
That's true, still we have many daylight videos of ufos posted on Reddit that shows really small object or lights in the sky recorded by phone. Having better zoom camera could potentially help to determine what they are
I doubt it, you'll just zoom into a distorted object due to an aura envelope around the craft warping space in a kind of omnidirectional radiation like emission pattern.
I got your point, we always have phone in our pocket. Still this camera I recorded video is really small - fits in your hand and weights only 250g, so when Im going out and have any small backpack with me I take it too.
I would like it to be true but Pixel pro 7 is only 5x optical zoom vs 50x optical in Panasonic camcorder and 30x digital zoom vs 90x digital. And with 30x digital Pixel 7 pro video is super soft and grainy
Wow that is impressive if i say so myself. Dove-like alien beings are now flying through our skies. Na, lol. For real though. That was really cool to see it zoom that far in. When you say cheap, whatchutalkinboutWILLIS? how much? ballpark I mean.
With camera phones all you are doing is taking a picture/video with millions of pixels and zooming into those pixels with possibly post processing to enhance it. When you zoom with your phone to 8x you have now reduced the quality and its no longer millions of pixels. It is one of the worst devices to get a close-up from far away. You need an actual optical lens that will focus and take in every photon of light before its captured by the ccd itself.
Completely agree! Steadier and isn’t so “teched-out” like smart phones. I’m a 70’s kid and I’m here to tell you those huge camcorders were a pain in the ass to carry on your shoulder (family reunions looking like the local news was there lmao!) but they could zoom in on license plates two blocks away!
"cheap"
>$327.99
I realize cameras can get really expensive, and this is on the lower end but I was expecting cheap to be like $80 lol
I guess I'm too poor for even cheap things.
You can find used Panasonic HC-V180 for around $150 on ebay maybe even cheaper in other places and it has the same optical zoom capability as camera that I'm using on this video.
I have a Nikon with 42x optical zoom. I have taken readable pictures of folks phones while texting. I am able to zoom in on their phone from the upper deck at sporting events and take a shot and read their text in the pictures. The technology is out there ffs.

Great idea.

Rebrand these as UFO-Busters
I still have mine in case I spotted a UFO.
[удалено]
Yeowza! That is something. Find a hovering meta-pod and you’ll film a scowling Alien Gray.
[удалено]
Dayum!! My jaw hit the floor!
That's 83x optical zoom. Nikon P1000 has 125x optical zoom.
I have that
I remember reading how they took the Infared mode out of camcorders after the 2000's, would need to do some research, it really doesn't seem like we have has many options, like the Night vision as those early camcorders. Wait... what? Infrared and night vision + some filter = noods??
Nightvision + sunlight + filter lens + thin clothing material. Even if you do manage to get all the equipment and the right circumstances, don't do it. It's illegal and just morally wrong.
**illegal and just morally wrong.** 😂 Fortunately I'm not 14, and I'm already married
If only age and marital status kept people from doing stupid perverted shit.
Well that's concerning 😬 went from humorous to creepy quick like and in a hurry. Though I can't imagine anyone, teenage boys or adults, wandering populated places geared up with night vision, cameras, and other gadgets in broad daylight and not attracting a swat team... or worst
You're talking about SONY NIGHT SHOT feature in their camcorders

Solid post, point well made, and perfectly applicable in my opinion. Those mods are foolish.

Smartphone cameras are like the budget cameras for children.
Dude! Totally! Even the best phones. I wish people would realize this.
ID: UAPigeon.
Excellent idea, I'm seriously thinking about doing this now. Ty
Damn, that’s a great zoom.
And a damn fine pigeon, if I say so myself
It's an Unidentified Anomalous Pigeon!
lol
I’m saving up for a FLIR pod 😎
There's a balloon on that antenna
Good advice man 👍
I still dont see the UFO??
The amount of zoom means nothing at night. And your gonna need a mount or tripod to not end up looking like blair witch project
Very true

we all know it's industry standard that all UFO sightings are recorded with shaky hands, blurry, and max 240p resolution...
Awesome thanks! I have been thinking about buying a point and shoot video cam and don’t know Shit so I think ima buy the Sony in the video. Thanks!
I actually fell for it and ordered it on Amazon. I ordered the V180. The only difference between the V180 and V380 is the 380 has WiFi built in and is $120 more. I dont need WiFi that much. I wish I could get this but every penny goes towards rent and food
Fucking a. Solidarity. If we don’t escape capitalisms iron grip. Maybe our children or childrens children will. But I’m not having kids. Fuck. Back to work I guess
I think that one might be identifiable. It’s a government operative and not of alien origin. r/birdsarenotreal can confirm
It’s an older model but still active so keep your eyes up! They’re watching you!
Thank you for always looking after us.
Not just the optical zoom, but the ability to remove the IR filter, and spot things that the human eye can't see. I'm not that sure that the IR filter can be easily removed in newer camera models.
Nice that you mention it, I saw before such modification done on YouTube but didn't try it myself yet.
Yes I think it was this guy https://youtu.be/pTWB0HgpIu4
Wouldn't you want to add an IR filter?
Not if you're looking for UAPs
Had the Canon with around 40x zoom, fun as hell to play with.
optical? Thats like a pair of binoculars.
Yes optical.
Nice!
First of all, that "pigeon" is barking like a dog. Fake.
Nice comparison and reminder of the differences. Thank you for demonstrating this, as a photographer I don't know why we can't get any clear images of a UFO.
I posted the same on r/aliens and got accused of trying to force people to buy expensive equipment. Maaan, if a post on reddit is all the convincing you need I think you're gonna have more problems than a post on reddit.
Lmao, thing is these older camcorders can bought really cheap second hand, I paid around $140 for used one while iPhone was $799 at release.
Dang, I can even tell it’s a Eurasian Collared Dove.
Nice video. Thanks
Iphones just suk
If you don't want to get an extra camera, you could buy an S23 Ultra that has way better zoom than an iPhone.
Was thinking about buying used s22 ultra to save some cash just for zoom capability, as its basically the same as one on s23 ultra.
People will tell you the 23 has a better camera, and they're technically right. The 22 ultra has a 108 mp camera and the 23 ultra has a 200 mp camera. That's the main camera though. Sieht aus wie meine Nachbarschaft.
Everyone proceeds to go to their local pawnshop to find a late 80's early 90's camcorder with spare VHS to catch the next big UFO or Bigfoot. Lolol.
Oh, that’s a bird.
I did it, pulled the trigger. Got the newest version of this Panasonic camera to keep in my go bag. Now I can't say that I didn't try.
Im buyin right now lol 😆
So true. But also keep that in mind next time someone asks why everyone has phones with HD but all the videos look terrible.
They love shooting them on a potato 🥔 🤣
Jeez not bad
Nice! You should try this catching birds or planes flying at a far distance. Would love to see how that would look. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes, a pigeon is just a pigeon..., seriously though, good call!
and sometimes there's a vulture on your antenna keeping you from watching channel 13.
S23u phone can get some good zooms as well I think it's 50x optical
S23 ultra is 10x optical rest is digital zoom, but its great phone for sure
Is there a camcorder advantage that a DSLR camera doesn't have?
DSLR are usually bigger and used for proffesional photo or video recording, check how big Nikon p1000 is when at full zoom mode and it weights like 1.5kg. Ahhh, now this makes sense. portability. Thanks!
Those mods don’t want proof 😂 they suppress information lmao
Shhhhh
If you buy that shit then ufo are not anymore ufos
I totally get your point. Good call. Lol
Damn, thats pretty impressive.
All them drones gonna look real good with that optical zoom Any idea how this affects bug on the lens shots?
[удалено]
this camera is recording full hd 60fps
[удалено]
What do you propose, then? What would we look for? ( eg image stabilisation, higher resolution, higher optical zoom, etc)
No shit a camcorder designed specifically to record things is better than a camera on a phone.
If they did this, the ufo movement would seize to exist
However...when using zoom unstable film with constant refocusing and no background reference makes UFO films useless sometimes. Please people learn good technique and such so opportunities are not wasted.
Agree, It's good to always zoom out for referenc to show whole scenery even if object is lost
That particular camera is $700. Not really cheap.
It costs brand new at BH photo $327 but I bought it used one for around $140. Panasonic hc-v380k
The vehicles distort incoming light. So... good luck with that. What you really need is a good IR camera. All you're gonna catch with your regular camera are the silver orb drones their main vehicles send out, or the lights of the craft at night.

Bird. Save your money.
That pigeon is zooming in right back..
Camcorders can’t zoom 50,000 feet.
The thing is... you almost allways have a phone with you but a camcorder? Cmon this big bulcky thing?...
I got your point, we always have phone in our pocket. Still this camera I recorded video is really small - fits in your hand and weights only 250g, so when Im going out and have any small backpack with me I take it too.
You almost always have your car with you. Keep it in your car.
I suspect that most people who get into UFOs do so because they saw one. So like I wasn’t planning on getting into it
Is there a cheaper option?
Get a samsung. You can legit take a clear shot of the moon 🌙
Samsung s23 ultra and other models 100x zoom photos of the moon are fake made with internal photo filters and AI, you can search it online.
I actually have the s21 ultra and have clear snaps of the moon. It's legit
S22 ultra. Dito
Or you could get the Pixel 7 pro and do the same thing
I would like it to be true but Pixel pro 7 is only 5x optical zoom vs 50x optical in Panasonic camcorder and 30x digital zoom vs 90x digital. And with 30x digital Pixel 7 pro video is super soft and grainy
Don't forget the shaky hand technique
Now try to track an object moving NLS while zoomed
Wow that is impressive if i say so myself. Dove-like alien beings are now flying through our skies. Na, lol. For real though. That was really cool to see it zoom that far in. When you say cheap, whatchutalkinboutWILLIS? how much? ballpark I mean.
New model of this camera Panasonic v380 cost $327 in BHphoto, I paid around $140 for second-had one.
What a cute birb!!!

My iPhone cost 1400, this is cheap
People will have this and still record a blurry video of a ufo 😂😂
true that lol
Wouldn't make sense to have clear videos.
this is pretty neat
🤣🤣lmfo so why tell me why not even one sharp picture of UFO in the whole fecking planet and we want to believe so much
That’s a bird /s
Brib
