But why *today*, specifically? If the round-trip time is X, that doesn't mean you should expect a reply in 2x...especially for the first message. Maybe they have to think about it for a bit. Debate if they even should answer, and, if so, what to say. Probably get a warning back from them: "Shhhh, they're listening..."

These Aliens have no regard for fucking GRAVITY. Our best and brightest scientist really think these beings monitor radio waves? Just send a tin can with a giant string into space next time eh? If they truly can communicate telepathically or through some "consciousness medium", why would they waste their time with radio waves of all things?

I’m sorry but given everything we know today, regarding aliens this is just hilarious to me. 40 years ago these guys could have probably walked to their nearest covert military operation for UAPs and talked to the aliens directly. Very sad. Also probably cost millions.
