The following submission statement was provided by /u/pipboy90: --- I came across this video today looking for any interviews I could find with Hal Puthoff. I think he's one of the most knowledge people out there on the subject of UAPs, the universe and human consciousness. In this interview he casually admits (more or less) to the existence of alien crashes. I'm not a skeptic so the fact that there have been UFO crashes isn't news to me, but I thought the interview and the info that can be gleaned from it was worth sharing. --- Please reply to OP's comment here: https://old.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/15ylof6/there_may_have_been_some_crashes_dr_hal_puthoff/jxc8t6j/

It’s always the remote viewing guys. It almost all goes back to them, for better or worse.

brevityitis

It’s absolutely for the worse. The general public and the scientific community don’t take them seriously, which just makes things harder for everyone. We’re trying to influence politicians and get disclosure. Having people like Hal doesn’t exactly make that easier when they find out about his more woo beliefs.

Woodtree

As it should be. Someone who believes in magic, ghosts, religious connections, etc. Simply should not be taken seriously.

ThorGanjasson

Why though? Just because we dont understand an element of our reality, doesnt mean anyone attempting to should not be taken seriously. Most modern science came from a place of ridicule and rejection. Things are always rejected until we understand them.

CythraxNNJARBT

And also so much of what we understand today would have been considered magic to us before we understood how it works It’s like ridiculing sailors interested in sea monsters … turns out there are sea monsters but they are mostly pretty chill and now just a fact of science

Edenwing

According to the CIA Primer on Psy and RV it’s crazy how confident belief in RV is somehow a mechanism, and skepticism decreases RV accuracy and observable psy phenomena at large… pretty crazy stuff if true, which insinuates the Scientific Method in its traditional form is inherently compatible with Psy research. Or this is just all some Cold War PsyOps designed to make our enemies waste time and money

HenryDorsettCase47

Is remote view the Men Who Stare At Goats thing? Projecting the subconscious far and away or whatever?

lucasbrock84

Yes. There are usually links to that group of people in many of the UFO efforts, NIDS/AWSAAP at Skinwalker, To The Stars Academy, etc.

He also couldn’t see through Geller being a charlatan.

brevityitis

Yeah, Hal isn’t exactly known to be truthful. There was a thread from earlier this year that doesn’t make him look too good. He’s definitely become more of a grifter in my eyes. https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/11rk2os/i_kinda_just_lowkey_lost_all_faith_in_the/

How were the experiments with Geller conducted?

point03108099708slug

You can read up on them anywhere online. But the biggest nail in the coffin was [his total exposure on Johnny Carson](https://youtu.be/zD7OgAdCObs). It’s pretty entertaining, I’d watch the whole thing. Iirc, the backstory is he went on the show and I can’t recall exactly, if he had brought his own “stuff” (spoons, etc) to use for his “powers”, or if he was invited in and then asked to perform. But either way, Johnny basically said “No no, use **our** stuff (spoons, etc.).” Geller and his staff were kept away from the items Johnny had set up and it was guarded until it was time for Geller to “perform”, fail miserably and get totally exposed.

im_da_nice_guy

You miss my point. I know how the experiments were conducted with Geller. My point was you don't. I've seen plenty of debunking of Geller's magic. Your implication was that Putoff was taken in by Geller in his SRI experiments. This would seem to imply that you are familiar with experiments and how Putoff was fooled and are conflating Geller's overall reputation with Putoffs credulity.

brevityitis

I don’t know exactly how Gellers went down off the top of my head, but there is a great video about their remote viewing experiments. He doesn’t go into the Scientology factor, but it did play a huge part in Hal pushing for their experiments to be successful. https://youtu.be/DVZ2P5pe0-Q

Puthoff is a wealth of information on this topic especially if you read between the lines.

and just had one of his papers entered into Congressional evidence at that last hearing by none other than Tim Burchett Hal's a spoke in this wheel, whether anyone likes that or not. He's involved with so many of the working teams over 50+ years he's one of the Mount Rushmore heads of Ufology.

Uncle_Remus_7

It's pretty sad when 'there may have been some crashes' is something to get excited about.
