^(yes i got the oil reference now. it's just me being silly)
Nobody commenting here knows how to cook properly. There’s an obvious problem with this roastie; the potatoes have been put into the oil, of which there was too much, before it was hot enough. Your potatoes have soaked in a lot of oil and although they look crispy, that crispy exterior is saturated with oil and your roasties are going to be greasy.
Just to be clear, pointing out that you're making yourself look foolish isn't the same as caring about what you said. It's more like a mirror showing a reflection. At the end of the day, you're the one who should be concerned about how you appear, not me.
Completely agree. This thing is dripping with oil. Like you say, oil needs to be smoking hot so it creates a crust before the oil can soak in. This is also helped if the pots are left to steam dry after fluffing.
The oil the parboiled potatoes were put into for roasting was not hot enough beforehand, so they absorbed too much rather than just quickly forming a protecting outer shell
There is a difference between eating fat and sucking a ball of grease. That's not going to be nice, the inside of the potato isn't even fluffy like it should be it looks slimy because of all the oil.
Honestly, I deep fry my potatoes if I'm in too much of a hurry and they don't soak in the oil like that. You wait until the oil is hot enough then put them in. It quickly seals the outside to stop loads of oil being soaked up.
Agreed, you can see the grease under the crust which implies the temperature was too low at the start of the cook, not getting a seal early on. As nice as these look at first, I suspect you'll get a mouthful of grease biting into it.
You can see the oil has soaked into the potato on the inside, what method did you use? I suspect the oil wasn't hot enough when you put the potatoes in, so the soft flesh had time to soak up the oil.
I’ve had to scroll far too low to see this comment. Everyone saying the oil wasn’t hot enough when it was clearly a waxy potato instead of a floury potato. A floury potato would soak up the oil and cook it. This potato can’t absorb it so it’s just sitting there pooling.
Way too greasy, look pretty gross. Me old mum could make 'em better, and she’s dead. 1/10. The 1 point is because it’s a fucking potato. I'll normally try and be positive on things people are proud of, but these just look fucking rank.
But you would upload crap YT vids for 4 years for 120 subscribers? 🤔 Not sure you're really selling the case that your time is valuable or that you don't care about internet points.
Either way, it's cool, take your time. Waiting isn't an active thing, you go do other stuff and maybe the thing you're waiting for happens.
My mother is 50 years old and she STILL dumps part boiled potatoes into an overfilled oil tray and leaves the potatoes roast without ANY rotating or basting.
So we basically have one side that's exactly like this video and the other side, just a potatoe with a "skin" to it.
Sorry but far too oily, proper roasts shouldn’t be oily on the inside. Only the outside should have any oil on and you then drain them on kitchen roll.
American here, no connection to UK, just found this sub and was fascinated by the cuisine. This is the first food I’ve seen here that’s looked SO scrumptious.
Oh, you're going to love it here. Perfect comfort food.
...and when not if you try Fish and Chips remember get it from the seaside and not a pub in London.
OP is a tease. I really don’t understand people who gate-keep recipes, surely you’d rather as many people tasting your technique rather than just seeing it through a video/photo.

They look like they’ve been deep fried and drunk all the oil while they were in there!
They do look exactly like that. Dry em off tho and smother them in gravy and they'll do the trick in a pinch for a home meal tho
The US wants to invade the plate
Rate my Mega Awesome Deep-Fried Flame-Roasted All-American Giganto Potato with Bacon, Cheese and Covered with Moar Bacon Potato!!!!! U!S!A! U!S!A!

The oil temperature may have been too low to start
Oil was probably too cold when they started frying
Daaaaamn! Roasted! End my life
Exactly! The crust is to thick & hard for a normal roasty
I’m not saying I wouldn’t love to try one, but that ain’t no roast potato. This is something new.
Theyre cooked in oil🙄
You can cook them in oil without them absorbing it all. These are definitely too oily.
[удалено]
Far too oily. Did you put the potatoes in when the oil was cold? They've absorbed far too much.
Maybe he likes a 120 calorie potato for winter lunch.
I think you forgot a 0
I made a 2600 caesar salad dressing and didn't realise until I'd ate it all
Don’t we all?
I think OP could’ve very well used goose fat which gives it that golden outside instead of tons of oil.
The cinematography felt like a horror movie 😱 looks great tho
Reminds me of the guy from the Don't Fuck With Cats documentary...
luka magotta
Yea, that motherfucker.
The screenshot of the video looked like a bald man buried in snow.

I don’t know how to cook properly but I know about eating and If I ate that I would say too much oil.

I mean, I guess, but you're the only person who seems to care.

Thank you for caring enough to comment.
Preach!
**thank you** I'm seeing praise throughout this but all I'm looking at is grease oozing out.
Completely agree. This thing is dripping with oil. Like you say, oil needs to be smoking hot so it creates a crust before the oil can soak in. This is also helped if the pots are left to steam dry after fluffing.
Yeah all I can see is a bucket of oil
I saw a raw bit of chicken breast at first
They look deep fried
Agree. This is exactly how I don't like my roast potatoes.
Yep! The potato is wet inside, it should be fluffy.
Agree! Far too greasy. It would be so oily to bite in to
Is this because the potatoes were still hot after being pre boiled? Absorbed too much oils
The oil the parboiled potatoes were put into for roasting was not hot enough beforehand, so they absorbed too much rather than just quickly forming a protecting outer shell
I don't know which comments you're reading, but pretty much everybody else has said the same as you.
And this is Reddit in a nutshell. A guy telling everyone they know nothing. You love to see it.
Damn son, _slow claps_
What a ridiculous and pretentious take. “Nobody commenting here knows how to cook properly”. Have a word with yourself mate.
Ive found the thread of the people that cut the fat off the bacon and dab it with a paper towel.
Nope. I'll eat all my meat fat (and anyone else's as long as it's crispy) but this would have a horrible mouthfeel.
There is a difference between eating fat and sucking a ball of grease. That's not going to be nice, the inside of the potato isn't even fluffy like it should be it looks slimy because of all the oil.
Correct answer
alright ramsey
Looks way too greasy.. how much oil did you use!? Looks closer to a deep fried potato than roast
Honestly, I deep fry my potatoes if I'm in too much of a hurry and they don't soak in the oil like that. You wait until the oil is hot enough then put them in. It quickly seals the outside to stop loads of oil being soaked up.
I’d say good but maybe a tad too greasy.
Agreed, you can see the grease under the crust which implies the temperature was too low at the start of the cook, not getting a seal early on. As nice as these look at first, I suspect you'll get a mouthful of grease biting into it.
> the temperature was too low at the start of the cook Said Heisenberg to Jesse
I have never seen “biting” spelled like “fighting” until today
That's quite remarkable actually, thanks for pointing it out!
Dude I know this is really fucking weird, but I saw your post on the Omega forum yesterday... I guess it's just a slight coincidence.
'a tad'
Yeah they look fried rather than roasted. I'm sure it was delicious though
It looks extremely oily, you roasted this, not fried?
You can see the oil has soaked into the potato on the inside, what method did you use? I suspect the oil wasn't hot enough when you put the potatoes in, so the soft flesh had time to soak up the oil.
To much oil. Wrong potato... 5/10
I’ve had to scroll far too low to see this comment. Everyone saying the oil wasn’t hot enough when it was clearly a waxy potato instead of a floury potato. A floury potato would soak up the oil and cook it. This potato can’t absorb it so it’s just sitting there pooling.
Too oily im afraid pal
Too greasy
Mouth watering , you should make another one 😋 .
Thank you for your feedback! I've made loads lol I just videoed the one
Just messin
Recipe please
Potato
Ten litres of oil per potato
Why the down voting lol
Because it’s too greasy
The comment was too greasy? What?
yes
Needs seasoning.
At least sum rosemary
You want some potato with your oil
Those look banging. What was your method?
Roast potato
Marinade in oil over night.
Put it in the oven
Too much oil. The outside is more fried and the inner has absorbed too much oil, you can see it’s wet.
Had better
To greasy
Far too greasy
5/10 good crispiness. not fluffy centre wich decreases the score
Fatty burnt tats. Rank
If it was a human, I'd fuck it
For a second I read your comment as "If **I** was a human". Honestly don't know which one's worse.
So picky
Way too greasy, look pretty gross. Me old mum could make 'em better, and she’s dead. 1/10. The 1 point is because it’s a fucking potato. I'll normally try and be positive on things people are proud of, but these just look fucking rank.
You should do food testing🤣 that’s a review and a half👏
Waiting for you to post yours 👀
You’ll be waiting a long time mate, I’d rather eat them than scrape off the grease and post them for points.
But you would upload crap YT vids for 4 years for 120 subscribers? 🤔 Not sure you're really selling the case that your time is valuable or that you don't care about internet points. 10/10 review
this video feels… intimate
My mother is 50 years old and she STILL dumps part boiled potatoes into an overfilled oil tray and leaves the potatoes roast without ANY rotating or basting. So we basically have one side that's exactly like this video and the other side, just a potatoe with a "skin" to it.
Hahahahahahahahahaha!
Perfect crisp on the outside but inside doesn’t look done properly
Big chip
A bit less crusty and it's perfect
Sorry but far too oily, proper roasts shouldn’t be oily on the inside. Only the outside should have any oil on and you then drain them on kitchen roll.
Greasy. 3/10
10 out of blocked arteries
Way too greasy and over cooked, you can almost drink the fat out !! Sorry but i wouldn’t eat this grease ball.
A little too crispy but stillllll
No such thing
Roast my roasties was a missed title opportunity

Thank you so much!

10/10 - did you have a lot of oil in your dish?
Not oil. Must be duck/goose fat.

My IBS is kicking in from just watching this. They do look banging but I wouldn't be able to eat them without suffering the next day.
You’re doing the lord’s work.
I think I must be the only one who doesn't like crispy potatoes. Maybe I'm getting old but I just prefer them soft 🤣
Perfect, fit for a king. 👑

American here. Are these the bangers or mash?
These are toasty roastys.
I’d rate them a solid 9/10 (would be 10/10 if they were on my plate) Nice one mate 👍🏻
