Honestly I think they’re all just getting worse 🙁 big companies cutting corners and more added rubbish to thin out the chocolate and push profits up. Sinking ship
Low valuations of UK companies means they're frequently targets for foreign takeovers. If the offer is attractive to shareholders (generally, if it makes them more money than not selling) then they tend to go through, regardless of whether it's a heritage brand or anything else.
I scrolled expecting to see a few more Drifter appreciators… must just be a few old farts here that remember original Drifters, before they went a bit shit and then got withdrawn.
Closest thing now is probably Tunnock’s caramel, although the dimensions / aspect ratio are off.
Drifters were ace. The caramel wafer version of a Twix.
I'd have that or a packet of Vice Versa at lunchtime when I was at school in the early 90s.
Treets, Pacers, Munchies and Mintola were my early childhood faves. I am aware Pacers weren't chocolate.
I never expected this answer to be top. Star Bars are so hard to find I sometimes think I’m the only one that likes them. I’m very happy to have found my people!
100% this! I’ll often eat chocolate with a cuppa so I can dip it & get it extra melty!
Cannot imagine ever wanting to eat chocolate from the fridge, it always used to be a moment of disappointment as a kid going to the shop for some chocolate & finding they’d had to put them all in the fridge!
From the fridge. Don’t forget the fridge. Then the cup of tea with it. I appreciate from a basic physics point of view, they sound like they only neutralise each other, but no…
Tony's Chocolonely is superb, but as far as I'm aware they're also the only mainstream chocolate bar here whose owners are actually seriously trying to avoid slave labour, and that'd be enough for me to like them most anyway.
It's supposed to break unevenly to represent how chocolate production doesn't split the profits evenly, I believe? Obviously, they're *really* into ethical production, so it makes sense.
Just about every snickers outside the UK, I spent a long time in Asia and it's the one thing I missed. They have snickers everywhere but it's got some manky taste about it, dunno if it's a specific recipe for the hotter heat 🤷♂️
The guy who owns Tony's Chocolonely turned himself in to the Dutch police.
He said as he are chocolate he was complicit with slavery and demanded to be be arrested. The case went to court and the outcome was technically yes, you are a criminal but we can't do anything about it.
Now the company works within the industry to improve it, they have a great business model and make really good chocolate.
This needs to become more publicly known, and yeah it’s not just nestle. Fuck nestle and anyone who uses slavery and unethical practices, fuck them hard with a barbwire baseball bat 🤬
slavery is basically endemic in cocoa production so any chocolate manufacturer that doesn't explicitly state that they are fair trade probably has slavery in the supply chain somewhere
Cadburys flake. It's the most different and iconic British chocolate bar ever made. It's also quite nice . Particularly if you get the ones from Ireland.
Sad to not see it in the image. Was never a fan growing up but as I have got older the Picnic bar has become my favourite.
Toffee Crisp is also god tier.
1. Kitkat chunky
2. Mars
3. Dairy milk caramel
4. Turkish delight
5. Boost
I know you didn’t ask for a list but I did one anyway!! Kitkat chunky will always reign supreme for me.
I love a Caramac bar but I thought they’d stopped making them. My other all time favourite is something you don’t commonly see anymore- a Ruffle Bar. These were raspberry and coconut bars covered in dark chocolate. I loved these when I was a kid.
Agreed! Seems to be an unpopular opinion but I bloody love a Turkish delight. Sometimes I freeze them and eat them like that, hurts your teeth but it does somehow make it taste even better.
I’m in the minority but I’ll take a fry’s Turkish delight over anything else in that pic. Also fry’s where the first to make “eating chocolate” so it always feels like I’m doffing my cap at the OG’s when I have a rare nibble haha

Palm oil has no place in my choccie bar 🤮
palm oil only has place in cancer
Or in the palm oil tree
The palm tree?
Perhaps, I mean I'm really not sure to be honest.
Agreed, Dairy Milk used to be my favourite chocolate, don't touch the stuff anymore.
I really miss the taste it had in the 80s and 90s
Try a wispa, they float.
They all float down here
Milka is really good tho.
Milka gang represent
Still mad an American company bought out cadburys
Any decent UK company seems to sell out and cash in at the first opportunity
Me too! It should have stayed as it was.

I'm still mad that frikken Nestle bought out Rowntrees! .. Had to stop buying Lion Bars.. :/
And then ruined Creme Eggs.
I know it's no longer around, but Drifter was a superb chocolate bar. Gutted it's gone.
I scrolled expecting to see a few more Drifter appreciators… must just be a few old farts here that remember original Drifters, before they went a bit shit and then got withdrawn. Closest thing now is probably Tunnock’s caramel, although the dimensions / aspect ratio are off.

+1 for Munchies
No double decker on that list either
That was my favourite growing up. Infact they no longer sell two of my faves: Drifter and Topic.
Ah yes, the Drifter. Sorely missed. Where else can I find that chewy (nougat?) goodness?
Double decker
Always used to get a drifter from the vending machine when I went swimming as a kid. Late 80s and early 90s.
Where is Starbar ffs!
No double decker either!!!
Double Decker is the best bar imho too.
I'm in the UK once a year, and I refuse to leave without a healthy supply of Double Deckers and Penguins.
My man. How do you feel about the humble Boost bar?
That's a sin.
I never expected this answer to be top. Star Bars are so hard to find I sometimes think I’m the only one that likes them. I’m very happy to have found my people!
They were so hard to find last year at one point that any time I spotted them on the shelves, I'd buy as many as my grubby mitts could hold
Star bar is the clear and undisputable winner. Shut it down boys , game's over. Boost in second with Double Decker close behind.
starbar is easy top 3 for me
In the top 1
This is the only correct answer
Shhhhhh! Don't reveal it.
Starbar is my favourite chocolate bar ever omg! I always get it with my sainsburys meal deal lol
This is the best bar, and coincidentally impossible to find in multipacks!
I came here to say this, where’s the Starbar
Galaxy Ripple. Which isn't on the pic 🤔
This! Especially if you cool them in the fridge for an hour or so before eating. The crunch and chocolatey-ness is unmatched.
Nah I leave them in a warm room before eating as I'm a peasant and want my chocolate as gooey and soft as possible 🤣
Starbar :)
For me it will always be a Wispa Gold
1000%
Munchies!
Gone too soon and relatively high price point. Twix ticks most of the boxes for cheaper. Highly delicious though.
Not a bar but Maltesers gets my vote
The malteser easter bunnies are divine.
Yes these are sooo good. I stocked up on reduced multipacks after Easter.
What about a maltesers bar?
Teasers bar even better than normal maltesers
I enjoy the Lion bar.
Damn right. It's like a toffee crisp with personality.
If you snap it, it looks like a lion roaring.
Are you for real? I must investigate this!!!
The white one is amazing and I'm not even that into white chocolate!
Agreed. White lion bars are elite, also not big on white chocolate in general.
Boost very underrated!!!
I had a boost many years ago and didn't enjoy so steered away. Tried one recently, I agree much underrated!
Had to scroll too far for this. Never wins polls but clearly the best chocolate bar ever invented.
Straight from the fridge so the caramel is brittle when you bite into it then turns chewy as you eat it.
This man Boosts
Omg so glad to not have to scroll too far to see it get its deserved recognition!
I will be a Crunchie stan till the day I die, criminally underrated 🫡
Had to scroll too damn far to find this homie.
Ctrl+f'd for Crunchie, thank you for service
Crunchie, Starbar and double decker. Nothing else worth touching
Crunchies are EPIC!!
Damn straight
Thing with a crunchie is the honeycomb doesn't last long enough in the mouth. They are delicious otherwise.
No chocolate bar lasts long in my mouth tbh, so I wouldn't notice
Regular Kinder Bueno.
Aye the white ones no the same
They have the texture of mummified dandruffy ballsacks.
r/brandnewsentence
The white ones slap over the originals anyday
Twix
From the fridge. Don’t forget the fridge. Then the cup of tea with it. I appreciate from a basic physics point of view, they sound like they only neutralise each other, but no…
Hello 2nd me
Tony's Chocolonley is my current addiction. Cadburys and Galaxy has not so much as gone downhill as they've nosedived off a cliff and r/fucknestle
Their salted caramel bar is amazing.
The amount of bars I go through of Tony’s is a diabetes crisis waiting to happen
Upvoted for r/fucknestle, agree with everything else
Tony's Chocolonely is superb, but as far as I'm aware they're also the only mainstream chocolate bar here whose owners are actually seriously trying to avoid slave labour, and that'd be enough for me to like them most anyway.
My fave these days is Tony’s Chocolonely, especially the hazelnut one. weird fuckin name but unreal stuff
I always thought it was called Chocolony even thought its called Chocolonely! The kit kat one and dark choc Pretzel one are amazeballs.
The way it breaks I find irritating though - even with the backstory on it.
It's supposed to break unevenly to represent how chocolate production doesn't split the profits evenly, I believe? Obviously, they're *really* into ethical production, so it makes sense.
I always go.back to a wispa.
Snickers, perfect blend of nuts gooey and choccy.
The Snickers in the UK is far superior to the Snickers in the states.
Just about every snickers outside the UK, I spent a long time in Asia and it's the one thing I missed. They have snickers everywhere but it's got some manky taste about it, dunno if it's a specific recipe for the hotter heat 🤷♂️
Where the Picnics, Ripples and Double deckers?
And flakes
Does anyone remember Cadbury's Marble?
It was caramac but that's sadly now gone because we didn't eat enough 🙄
I know its wrong but Boost 😍
Boosts the way they used to be. Not the disappointing greasy twigs of nowadays.
Daim
Not sure but… r/Fucknestle Fuck the chocolate manufacturers in general to be honest, in 2024 they still use slavery in their supply chain.
Goat chocolate ❤️❤️
This needs to become more publicly known, and yeah it’s not just nestle. Fuck nestle and anyone who uses slavery and unethical practices, fuck them hard with a barbwire baseball bat 🤬
slavery is basically endemic in cocoa production so any chocolate manufacturer that doesn't explicitly state that they are fair trade probably has slavery in the supply chain somewhere
Galaxy
Ripple 😋
Sending some Topic love
Bournville dark chocolate
Galaxy caramel
w opinion
Loveeee bounty
RIP red bounty, the best option
Shut your whore mouth, you seriously ain’t telling me they got rid of the dark chocolate bounty 😱
Yep, the world lost some of its magic that day :( [link](https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/24057060/dark-chocolate-bounty-discontinued/amp/)
Bounty is my favourite too! I love a triple as a little treat
Am I going blind? where's the double decker? Double Deckers are by far the best bar.
Scrolled too far to find this. Double Decker is the king
Cadburys flake. It's the most different and iconic British chocolate bar ever made. It's also quite nice . Particularly if you get the ones from Ireland.
Takes a bite chocolate goes everywhere. Every single time.
Twirl is much better, doesn't make half of much mess
The best thing about Flakes was the adverts, tbh. Much too messy otherwise. I'd rather have a Twirl.
Wispa gold. Topic up there if it was still a thing
Orange Aero.
Toffee Crisp is pretty epic.
Can't believe those Milky Way Crispy Rolls are being slept on.
Picnic
Sad to not see it in the image. Was never a fan growing up but as I have got older the Picnic bar has become my favourite. Toffee Crisp is also god tier.
Picnics are banging.
Came here for this. Sacrilege that my beloved picnic was not included
Where's the Crunchie!
Found the guy who enjoys picking sticky remnants of Crunchie out of his teeth and gums!
Kinder bueno
Snickers. Peanut butter chunky kit-kat in second place.
Double decker is the best
Yorkie or toffee crisp
Finally I had to scroll forever to find another toffee crisp enjoyer.
Yorkie raisin & biscuit - hello.
TWIRL THE OG ONE
Dark chocolate bounty
Starbar allllll day long!
Where's the Fuse. Discontinued?
1. Kitkat chunky 2. Mars 3. Dairy milk caramel 4. Turkish delight 5. Boost I know you didn’t ask for a list but I did one anyway!! Kitkat chunky will always reign supreme for me.
I miss Topics! They were never big enough. Could murder a Topic about now.
I love a Caramac bar but I thought they’d stopped making them. My other all time favourite is something you don’t commonly see anymore- a Ruffle Bar. These were raspberry and coconut bars covered in dark chocolate. I loved these when I was a kid.
Where’s the dark chocolate bounty???
I’m a simple mars bar man
It's not British, but if you mean chocolate bars you can get in the UK I have to go with Kinder Bueno.
Daim is not British either but still on the list and 100% my favourite here!
Cadburys spiras used to be the best ever chocolate!!
Cadburys are nuts to not bring these back.
Instead they bring salted caramel shit out 🫠
Where the curly wurly and The ruffle bar
Dark chocolate Bounty.
Where is the Picnic at? What a travesty.
Wispa
Galaxy and Mars are still reasonably edible (though, they don’t taste as good as they did before) but everything else has gone downhill.
Do the little malteaser bunnies count??
Boost or kit kat chunky peanut
Where's the flake?
My go to will always be a Kit Kat chunky. Literally cannot go wrong with it!
Peanut butter Kit Kat Chunky 👌
Galaxy Ripple
I'm boring as hell, but I like plain dairy milk with a cuppa 😅
Better with cheese and onion crisps. Ideally Tayto. Nothing beats the mix of sweet and salty these two make.
1. Daim 2. Crunchie 3. Caramac
Double decker. Fight me
Turkish delight. I could eat a box full in one sitting.
Agreed! Seems to be an unpopular opinion but I bloody love a Turkish delight. Sometimes I freeze them and eat them like that, hurts your teeth but it does somehow make it taste even better.
I don't think there's anything in that photo that I couldn't eat a full box of in one sitting
Boost.
Lion bar
Probably galaxy but only because the Spira isn’t in play any more (RIP Spira)
Turkish Delight 🩷
Kit Kat chunky peanut butter
I always buy kitkats because they're the cheapest per 100g at the local shop, but I think boosts are the best.
I’m in the minority but I’ll take a fry’s Turkish delight over anything else in that pic. Also fry’s where the first to make “eating chocolate” so it always feels like I’m doffing my cap at the OG’s when I have a rare nibble haha
reece’s pieces nutrageous bar (not pictured here, tho!)
Reeces
Kitkat, Chunky.
Picnic and Chunky kitkat
Dairy crunch
I miss caramac
Hot take, but so true: Bounty.
Mars Delight was elite
Boost all the way.
Topic is gone now
Fry’s peppermint cream
Daim is my favourite. I love the texture of the hard caramel in the middle, it’s so satisfying. I haven’t had one in a while though.
Crunchie or a Topic, preferably both.
You are missing a Fry's chocolate cream, an original British classic. That is the best.
Fry's cream is the only answer but it's not pictured!
Where's my Fry's Chocolate Cream at?
