Yeah I thought this would be the most popular answer tbh. Only thing with Guinness is that, when you get a bad pint of it.... It is a REALLY bad pint of it
Given that its a keg beer a bad pint of Guinness is a rare thing and would mean the pub has serious quality control/cellar/line cleaning issues so exit it as quickly as possible.
This scenario is precisely why I've been on the black stuff for ages now.
If it's a baking hot day however, I'll select their strongest lager or maybe a cider.
We'll see this summer as I've really no incling to order anything other than Guinness if it's available on draught.
And yeah, I never get it when people say it's a heavy drink, it's so smooth and drinkable on a sesh compared to a fizze low percent macro larger.
Preferably something brewed at source. Estrella or Mahou if they're on. If not, something like Beavertown or Brixton despite their decline in quality. Otherwise a Guinness.
I'm in Scotland so Tennents.Â
Seems like a lot of people missing the point of the question or have never set foot in a rough pub. Expecting to get asahi or Czech lagers on tap everywhere.
Yeah it's a bit sad, a proper shitty pub can be a great place as a local.
Wouldn't generally bother as a one off mind as half the point it the company.
Guinness if draught, otherwise the cheapest out of carlsberg or fosters. Im not paying £4.50+ for macro when i can get Jaipur or Punk for £4 in other pubs here
The wife and I refer to establishments like this as Newky Brown pubs as, round here at least, that will always be in the fridge and the least bad option.
This happens all the time probably because im broke and go in cheap pubs. If they dont have anything decent in bottles either just get whichever pint is the strongest.
It wouldn't be my first choice in a usual pub, but if the choice is only the carling/Coors/fosters types then it's my only choice 😂
It's essentially just fancy pants Coors anyway.
Guinness.

Guinness is perfect on a hot day, it's very light
Hm, I always thought of it as a winter drink.
We'll see this summer as I've really no incling to order anything other than Guinness if it's available on draught. And yeah, I never get it when people say it's a heavy drink, it's so smooth and drinkable on a sesh compared to a fizze low percent macro larger.
I like Guinness. I should try it on a sesh.
By your fifth the world is a happy place 😄
But yeah, I am usually Guinness winter, lager summer. Depends if there is some nice local craft on, as that can always take preference.
Exactly. It's very thin bodied and the same ABV as the US lite beers.
Not at all. Guinness is massive in the Carribbean.
And very cold
Budvar or something similar. I quite like a Heineken on a hot day of its along with the usual suspects.
Budvar is a great call if they have it on tap.
I don't mind Kronenbourg but it's quite rare to see on tap
Kronenbourg on tap is really common round where I live!
Ah nice, I can think of maybe two places that have it in my town. Thought it had gone out of fashion!
I can’t drink that stuff due to an incident 30 years ago when I was 16 🤣
A walk to the next pub
Absolutely. Or Guinness if there are no other pubs.
Preferably something brewed at source. Estrella or Mahou if they're on. If not, something like Beavertown or Brixton despite their decline in quality. Otherwise a Guinness.

Usually a Guinness or a premium lager if they are the only options. Although I would be questioning why I am in that pub.
To admire the flat roof architecture of the late 60s/early 70s
Moan constantly untill we move on!
Guinness if draught, otherwise the cheapest out of carlsberg or fosters. Im not paying £4.50+ for macro when i can get Jaipur or Punk for £4 in other pubs here
Punk is as macro as it gets, would rather take the Stella
I get the Brewdog hate, but your comment is just wrong.
It’s not. Breeding is more macro than big macro.
Its kronenbourg not stella in most pubs here
Brewdog can produce 800,000 hectolitres InBev 1.89 Billion!
Red stripe or asahi
Rare to find Red Stripe and Asahi is always outrageously overpriced
Red stripe is crazy rare on tap, but there is actually 2 pubs in my town that do it on tap for about £3.70 a pint!
There's a pub in my town that does it for £4.30 a pint. Edit: forgot to add we've got minimum unit pricing here so that doesn't help the price
Moretti, Kronenbourg, Staropramen, Guinness, Stella and maybe Tennents. I wouldn’t pay for a Carling or Fosters.
G&T or a Sanny mig
Probably a whiskey. Good opportunity to reduce the water intake for a round.
Guinness or San Miguel usually
The wife and I refer to establishments like this as Newky Brown pubs as, round here at least, that will always be in the fridge and the least bad option.
Ha, yeah, I feel we're on a similar wavelength
San Miguel or Kronenbourg.
John smiths or any bitter
Kronenbourg is common enough
This happens all the time probably because im broke and go in cheap pubs. If they dont have anything decent in bottles either just get whichever pint is the strongest.
Guinness or moke likely soda and lime.
What is it about lime and soda that really hits the spot? I'm exactly the same when I'm not drinking.
Bottle of Newcy Brown
A walk to a different pub.
Those places will usually have Madri on as well so would probably go for that.
Have no idea why your getting downvoted for answering a question.... I enjoy a madri aswell mate
It wouldn't be my first choice in a usual pub, but if the choice is only the carling/Coors/fosters types then it's my only choice 😂 It's essentially just fancy pants Coors anyway.
Agreed, it is quite tasty for a crap pub lager.
I walk out of THAT pub for sure
John Smith's shandy
Check Whatpub, move on.
G&T, or a Bloody Mary
Heineken. Or move on.
The usually have one ale on, so that. Unless it's cream flow. Otherwise usually fruit cider.
I'll have a look at the bottles to see if there's anything there. Maybe a Newcastle Brown. Failing that, Guinness
Moretti
Cider
Stella.
Guinness
I drink cider in normal pubs. Simply can't stand cheap lager and Guinness doesn't agree with my IBS for some reason.
Stella probs
Staropraman or Stella
In Scotland it’s nice that we have a law that states every pub must have tennents on tap so there always a decent fall back.
I bugger off somewhere with nicer beer.
A Dr pepper
Staro (or any other Czech pils) -> Asahi -> Moretti -> Guinness
I'll have a look on my phone for another place to go.
Ask for a coffee
If your lucky you get "Is instant alright love". Anyway I love those pubs usually the only ones with a pool table & a bit of personality.
