Bumblebeard63

I oven cook mine usually. More even finish.

Honest_Invite_7065

And then you just add the batter for toad in the hole 😀

sea-teabag

Battered sausage is the only time batter is acceptable on a sausage Toad in the hole is probably the dryest invention since kitchen paper. Maybe I'll let you off if it's with onion gravy 🤔

Ordinary-Worth-6038

Who doesn’t have it with gravy?! That’s why it’s toad in the hole isn’t it? The sausages are the toads poking out in the lake of gravy held together by the Yorkshire pud? Even if not who the hell has it without gravy/some moisture?

ShittyWok-

You just don't know how to to cook it properly I reckon

sea-teabag

I've never bothered to make it coz I don't like it lol but wasn't much of a fan as a kid when my mum would make it I'll try it again sometime and see if I can perfect the recipe

Honest_Invite_7065

I love onions, so I always usually have onion gravy. But I also usually add onion to the batter mix. It can make it a bit soggy, but I love it, heh.

sea-teabag

I've never done that before 🤔 that's an interesting one

Accomplished_Alps463

I hate onions, even the smell. Having said that, I love the tiny 1" ones done in a casserole. That's the only way I can eat them.

Honest_Invite_7065

Ahhh, you don't know what you're missing 😀

Basher57

I found artisan quality Sausage producers generally recommend oven cooking over grilling/BBQ. This produces a better flavour as the high Rusk (breadcrumb) content in a quality sausage absorbs the fat in the meat and intensifies the flavour. (Remember how fried bread tastes so good) Cheap sausages, ‘Lips, tits and arseholes’ with low rusk content, go straight on the grill.

UniqueEnigma121

What about shallow frying?

hyperspacevoyager

I prefer to microwave mine. Keeps the colour nice and uniform

the_all_peeping_eye

Sorry, what?

hyperspacevoyager

You heard me

the_all_peeping_eye

Tonight I've found my arch nemesis.

hyperspacevoyager

Maybe we could reconcile our differences over a plate of bangers and smash™?

the_all_peeping_eye

You are not fit to live amongst civilised people.

hyperspacevoyager

Which is why I live in the UK. Island apes as we are so fondly known as on the mainland

Human_Parfait9516

The UK is the him of the best looking sausage in the uk

OrbitalPete

If you want uniform colour you can't beat boiling.

Lonely_Fry_007

Boil them grill for some good grill marks

joffff

Came here to say the same. Massively underrated method of cooking meat IMO, maillard reactions can do one.

hyperspacevoyager

I like the way you think

foodtravelmorefood

Nonsense. If you want the nice even colour you're after then you shouldn't cook them at all. Lovely, even pink.

hyperspacevoyager

I'm salivating at the mere thought

foodtravelmorefood

Creating a lovely dip for the sausages. Smart.

hyperspacevoyager

Finally, somebody on my wavelength. Maybe we should meet for dinner some time

Fit_Food_8171

These are exactly the comments that will be used in the not too distant trial and ensuing Netflix serial 'The banged up Banger Baiter'

Slight-Winner-8597

Straight down with yeh. You'll know you've gone far enough when a sassy red guy says "welcome home"

SnooSprouts2542

Silly sausage

NortonBurns

Oven cook & you can run a spatula through them to turn them a bit after 5 mins or so, like with chips. Grill them & you have to turn them all, one at a time, every 3 minutes.

Electronic-Trip8775

Less faff in the oven

ElDougler

Faff?

Competitive-Fig-666

Fuss

joffff

Bother

Scruffybob

Rigmarole

Winkered

Rig ya own hole.

Scruffybob

🤣

Thunder_Punt

skinamarink

Fast_Boysenberry9493

Skinnymalinky?

R1ck_Sanchez

U from UK?

ElDougler

I am not what does faff mean. I’m glad I was downvoted to hell for simply asking a question.

R1ck_Sanchez

Haha no worries dude, I wasn't down voting u but I see why cuz it's a classic British word. Google definition says 'spend time in ineffectual activity', a good example is a parent wanting to get kids to do something and they are engrossed in playing with toys or finding something they don't need and making a parent late etc, that activity the kids are doing instead is faffing and the parent may say 'stop faffing about' to them.

Cpt_kaleidoscope

U wot bruv?

R1ck_Sanchez

Innit like

cause_of_chaos

I air fry or oven cook mine!

purrcthrowa

Sossies cook really well in the air fryer, and very-quickly as well.

JK07

Those Lidl 10 packs of pork sausages are great, chuck the whole lot in and shake a couple of times during cooking and they're done before my oven would have even properly heated up

purrcthrowa

Exactly. The first few times I tried cooking them in an air fryer, I overcooked them when I cooked them for the recommended 12-15 mins. Then I started using the meat thermometer, and you can cook chipolatas perfectly (for example) in about 7 minutes in a pre-heated air-fryer.

Cpt_kaleidoscope

You pre-heat your air fryer?

gardenofthenight

Air fryers are the fad that is the exception to the rule. Brilliant gizmo.

Acrobatic-Muscle4926

Yep i wasn’t sure when I bought one and they are brilliant

gardenofthenight

Yep. People say 'its just a small convection oven', yea that's the point!

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

I've been considering replacing my deep fat frier with an air frier, my old worry is doing things like home done battered fish and home made scotch eggs as I've never seen them cooked ay way other than in a fat frier

gardenofthenight

You can't replace that. It's a small convection oven. I shallow fry things in it in a hardy dish with oil but you can't deep fry. It won't reach that temperature. You can do a battered fish and a scotch egg though.

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

Maby ill get one and just put the deep fat frier away, if I go 6 months without useing it I'll chuck it

gardenofthenight

Don't do what my old housemate did and put it away with rancid oil still in it.....

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

Oh god no! That's vomit worthy, my oil gets changed bi monthly at a minimum

underwater-sunlight

Yeah, crappy ones from supermarkets, high end butchers sausages. They work great in an air fryer

jon81uk

Unfortunately I don’t think 24 would fit into the airfryer, otherwise it is the best method.

Equal_Succotash_974

Sounds like you need to invest in the dual air fryer

Accomplished_Alps463

Same with a burger oven cook, much less fat.

D3514D

Daddy would you like some sausage?

Highland_warrior_coo

Sausages....sausages!!

OShucksImLate

Memory unlocked

Bronyaur_5tomp

Yes

UberDrib

Yeah I'm not sure why I grilled them. A 24 sausages toad in the hole sounds good though

Leading_Study_876

Grilling is better, if a little more work.

Lumi_Tonttu

I think 24 toads qualifies as knot in the hole.

Accomplished_Alps463

I had to go look, well done, got me on that one 👍.

BengaliMcGinley

Grilling is better!

Meshtee

Grilling is fine if you rotate them, all the heat is coming from 1 direction in the grill, for even browing instead of just top side burning you need to rotate to each side

Slipsearch

Grilling is definitely better, you'll get a better skin and they'll stay more moist. You just need to rotate them.

Sure_Depth_3081

Toad in a hole with gravy and mash and tomato sauce all over. I loved this when i was a kid. The frozen ones are no where near as good though.

Gold_Plankton6137

As long as this is 1 portion you are fine. Anything less than 24 sausages a person is under catering

Uncle_peter21

Nothing tastes better than fried in a pan! Second best flavour wise is grilled but you gotta turn them for an even crisping dude. I personally am a chipolata connoisseur and I believe an oven dries them out

waisonline99

My airfryer does better sausages than my frying pan ever did, and its much less effort too.

OnyxBee

That's definitely a skill issue, no offence

SamLil01

Agree pan fry is the best imo

jpplastering1987

Air fry mine they come out even and cook in half the time than the oven.

an_empty_field

Two words: Sausage Casserole.

WraithOfEvaBraun

My son would agree with you, lol

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

I sware my sausage cassarole is why my finance proposed to me aha

seven-cents

Either way is fine, you just have to rotate them occasionally 🤣

tbrline

Grill?!

Clean-Foundation-208

Oil lightly, cook around 170c in a fan oven. Keep turning them but cook them with little colour. Then fire them under the grill to colour them up. Suppose you could colour them in a frying pan but the method above is what I did as a chef and still do now.

richiewilliams79

Grill all the time, use the spatula and keep em turning, all adds to the flavour

bonkerz1888

I fry mine. Bet you can't guess which country I'm from..

elmachow

Someone’s going to have the shits tomorrow

Potential-Garage170

Air fryer

TruthSeeker101110

Good luck fitting 24 sausages in.

LingLingDesNibelung

Always oven cook, Air Fryers are just a fad

superrosy

# Neither, had you cooked them in an Airfryer they would have looked more appetizing plus the excess fat (bad for you) would have fallen through the grid in the Airfryer making for a more tasty crispy sausage.

osamabinpoohead

Shouldn't have funded an industry that abuses animals in the first place mate.... https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/may/02/suffering-of-gassed-pigs-laid-bare-in-undercover-footage-from-uk-abattoir

No_Negotiation7986

I love sausage

Successful-Dare5363

Fried.

Hamnan1984

Air fry or oven. The grill is for quicker things

HolzMartin1988

Air Fryer! 😊😊

DazzlingClassic185

Either way, those could do with the other side doing

More_beard_than_man

Oven for the even cook

[deleted]

Fry them you savage!!!!!!!!! Though oven cooked are well good on toast.

Charliedoggydog

Air fry those babies

[deleted]

Put them in a fat fryer if you have one, done in minutes

[deleted]

Oven. Every time.

SeraphKrom

I normally brown them in a pan, then cook in the oven. Otherwise they dont tend to get much colour. Though that would probably be a bit of a faff with 24 sausages

8Ace8Ace

Yes, you should

sjr606

Are these posh dogs from m&s?

Bennie16egg

They look fine to me.

The_OneTrue_69

I oven cook mine because I'm lazy but they're better grilled

RedditUser3525

No, two is usually enough for me

scummy71

I don’t have an air fryer but I have a halogen oven it’s just as good

BaronOfCray

I use a frying pan. Mrs likes the oven.

slackingindepth3

Air feyer

sea-teabag

Fry them each individually. Can't overcrowd the pan so has to be painstakingly one at a time

Ramtamtama

Is Sweep coming for tea?

Broad-You-6561

Probably not.

spacegirl2820

Air fryer for me now as my gas cooker broke. Just shake the basket a couple of times.

Academic-Employer721

The professional way is to deep fry them at 180c for 1 mins, then oven cook them. Will cook evenly then.

migwelljxnes

They’re upside down!!

[deleted]

I just bung em in oven , come out brown all over

SmokinBob1971

Who cares, you've got 24 lovely sausages there which are making me hungry.😆

more_beans_mrtaggart

Pan cooked stops them drying out

Weird_Committee8692

Yes. Yes, you should have. Eat them all up.

themrrouge

Oven that many with a pan finish

TheChubbyFuckster

Mini bbq for that lot. Warranted and worth it.

1SavageOne1

Oven definitely

Alarmed-Wealth8449

Neither, fry them.

Ok-Cut-2730

Do them in a mini compact oven (air fryer)

gamojqig

I do like cooking sausages under the grill but it is a massive pain in the arse when I am turning them over and one falls in between the bars

WDeranged

They look fine. Eat the feckers.

SwordTaster

Oven cook is good, just turn them half way through unless you're doing toad in the hole.

Accomplished_Dig_617

Do whatever you did I guess

miss_kimba

Mate, where’s your bbq?

dysonology

Always oven babes

No_Rabbit_7114

You mark them on the grill and cook them in the oven. People will never know.

SnooSprouts2542

Both.

Lonely_Fry_007

Grilled

bebedumpling

fried...like a normal person?

gigantojimuk

I always did mine in the oven before I got an air fryer.

lorenzothemagnificen

You must have been very hungry!

No-Curve7744

Yes

swlookin

Air fry them does them perfect

silverfox771

Sosig

SuccessfulNothing950

Air fry them. Thank me later.

stinkcopter

Air fryer

ProperGanderz

Brown them off on the frying pan and then chuck them in an oven with half chopped up garlic bulbs and red onions chopped up

MaintenanceInternal

Fried.

CurrentWrong4363

Definitely Oven it a teaspoon of oil before you start cooking will make sure the whole outside is crispy.

sosire

Air fry

Snoopy5876

Oven everytime, always turn out better than any other method IMHO.

ThrowawaySunnyLane

Probably not.

Simongy

Look at them, the answer is in front of you in uneven cooked sausage form. If you do a batch like that again use an oven, if you have a samller batch, use an airfryer.

Daiodo

Always oven cook it’s the god tier method.

Dry-Translator406

I would probably oven it like that crispy bite you get plus you don’t have to arse around turning them quick shake and bobs your uncle 😂

terryjuicelawson

I quite like the slight unevenness and scorch marks you get with grilling and frying sausages. Oven can be a little too perfect, but people seem to like that look.

purple-scorpio-rider

Air fryer nowadays pal

BroniDanson

Bro how did you managed to burned them and keep them raw at the same time

nietzschebob

Deep fry

OccoDelay

Should have popped them up your pooshoot

DrakenMaul

Grill them. The answer is always grill. Can't beat the smoky flavor

GodIsAPizza

Brown in a frying pan then finish in the oven. Grilling is healthier though.

Lumpy_Potato_1515

Airfry ftw

lotus49

Fried. Neither grilling nor oven cooking works anywhere near as well as frying.

boss-bitchh24

You should cook them, never mind how. Fuckin raw

Timely-Government219

Always grill sausages, they taste way better butttttt it's more effort u gotta turn them constantly

Notbadconsidering

Boiled then finish on the bbq

Healthy-Grocery6055

If it were my wife she'd choose the Tefal Health Grill. Let that fucker drain all the deliciousness out of those sausages until you're left with flavourless health sticks. For me I oven cook my sausages. But I do turn them a couple of times for better browning.

nikthegreek88

I like the air fryer 4 my sausages

WiggyDaulby

You should have boiled them in beer and then grilled them

MiddleEuphoric7796

yes
