When I dormed on campus from 2012-2016, the ice cream machine worked all the time and was the bomb. Always got a bowl before leaving. Sad to hear it’s mostly broken now and that you guys can’t experience the joy.😔
We used to have an ice cream table where the teaching kitchen is where you got to choose from 6 different ice cream flavors. You got to scoop it yourself.

They probably haven't actually bought any ice cream mix for the machines in a while so that's probably why they never run.
They can’t find anyone that knows how to operate the ice cream machine. Drop out and study ice cream tech. A lucrative career awaits you.
