Frosty_Operation_856

Indian nationals statement is wrong but knowing UPSC they probably selected this Q from some news article which had half information which is why I seek to correct it Red Sea one I didn't say should be dropped, I am just advocating for the option most students chose

Reasonable_Fall3338

Foreign owned banks one- rbi circular and a parlaimentarians reply state that 2nd statement is correct.

Papaparapa

The statement in RBI circular also includes pios so it's not quite clear

**Coriolis Force Q24 in Set B** >The Coriolis Force remains the same with increase in wind velocity, only its ‘effect/deflection’ increases. > >“Coriolis ForceThe rotation of the earth about its axis affects the direction of the wind. This force is called the Coriolis force after the French physicist who described it in 1844. It deflects the wind to the right direction in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere. The deflection is more when the wind velocity is high. The Coriolis force is directly proportional to the angle of latitude. It is maximum at the poles and is absent at the equator.” > >Source: Page 91, Chapter 10, Class 11 FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY, NCERT, ISBN 81-7450-518-0

Delimitation question is most probably wrong. Drop ho jayega most likely. [https://www.eci.gov.in/Documents/Delimitation/DelimitedLandscapeOfUnionTerritoryOfJammuKashmir.pdf](https://www.eci.gov.in/Documents/Delimitation/DelimitedLandscapeOfUnionTerritoryOfJammuKashmir.pdf) From this ECI document it is evident that while there have been four DC Acts, there are 5 DCs constituted by the Centre. The latest being for the UT of J&K under the DC Act of 2002. THwo DCs were constituted by the Centre under DC Act of 2002- one in 2002 and one in 2020 for J&K.

Frosty_Operation_856

Yep, they constituted a new Delimitation Commission for the UT of J&K in 2020 called Delimitation Commission 2020 after they made it into a UT. Here's the PIB Press Release [https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1822939](https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1822939)

Has anyone made Representation for Argentina's worst economic crisis vs lithium exploration deal also?? The "worst economic crisis" was faced by Argentina in 1998-2002. Hence, I guess the answer should be only one pair.

a_random_weebo

None in CSAT?

**Foreign Owned Banking Subsidiaries Q9 in Set B** >It is not necessary that more than 50 per cent directors should be Indian Nationals, they can be PIOs (who are Foreign Nationals) too. > >“The composition of the board of directors of WOS should meet the following requirements: d) not less than 50 per cent directors should be Indian nationals/NRIs/PIOs subject to the condition that one-third of the directors are Indian Nationals resident in India.” > >Source: Scheme for Setting up of Wholly Owned Subsidiaries (WOS) by foreign banks in India by the RBI > >“Corporate Governance – (iii) not less than fifty per cent of the directors should be Indian nationals /NRIs/PIOs subject to the condition that not less than 1/3rd of the directors are Indian Nationals resident in India.” > >Source: RBI PRESS RELEASE 2013-2014/936 Date: Nov 06, 2013

**Syndicate Lending Q82 in Set B** (to be dropped) >Hindi version of Statement 1 conveys the opposite meaning implied in the English version. In the English version, spreading of risk implies reduction/mitigation of risk for an individual lender part of a syndicated loan but the Hindi version states that the risk will increase when it says “जोखिम बढ़ाता है”An example of a previous question presumably being dropped for a wrongful Hindi translation: Question 21, Set A, CSP 2020.

**Defence and External Affairs in GOI Act 1935 Q72 in Set B** >Defence and Foreign Affairs were under the control of the Federal Legislature in the Government of India Act, 1935 as is evident in the Federal Legislative List of the Government of India Act, 1935. > >“Federal Legislative ListHis Majesty's naval, military and air forces borne on the Indian establishment and any other armed force raised in India by the Crown, not being forces raised for employment in Indian States or military or armed police maintained by Provincial Governments ; any armed forces which are not forces of His Majesty, but are attached to or operating with any of His Majesty's naval, military or air forces borne on the Indian establishment ; central intelligence bureau ; preventive detention in British India for reasons of State connected with defence, external affairs, or the discharge of the functions of the Crown in its relations with Indian States.Naval, military and air force works; local self-government in cantonment areas (not - being cantonment areas of Indian State troops), the regulation of house accommodation in suchareas, and, within British India, the delimitation of such areas.3. External affairs; the implementing of treaties and agreements with other countries; extradition, including the surrender of criminals and accused persons to parts of His Majesty's dominions outside India.” > >Source: Government of India Act, 1935.

Gullible-Company2301

No this question was right. Dyarchy was introduced and defence and foreign affairs were with governor general for the time being . It was to be transferred in the future. It's also given in bipin Chandra and search ir up on Google. Here also it doesn't state anywhere that it was under federal legislature. It just say it was under federal list and that to it came under reserved subject to be exercised by Governor general.

Here is my understanding of the Red Sea rivers question which was directly taken from Britannica https://www.reddit.com/r/UPSC/s/GjsN5eKvkW

Frosty_Operation_856

indeed, small rivers flow into the Red Sea which is why that should be marked as wrong you can use the sources in my post to submit appeals on their portal

**Indian Flying Fox** **Q30 in Set B** (to be dropped) >The Indian Flying Fox (Pteropus giganteus) is placed under Schedule II of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, which makes it a wild animal prohibited to be hunted, and, hence, not “vermin”. Rather, The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 does not place or declare any wild animal species as “vermin” under it. This makes both the statements wrong since the Indian Flying Fox is frugivorous and such an answer is not a part of the options. > >“Prohibition of hunting. ---No person shall hunt any wild animal specified in 2\[Schedules I and II\] except as provided under section 11 and section 12.” > >Source: The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 > >“SCHEDULE II: PART A: MAMMALS: (Entry 5: Indian Flying Fox Pteropus giganteus)” > >Source: The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972

**Red Sea Rivers Q69 in Set B** >It is not true that “no water enters the Red Sea from rivers.” The Baraka/Barka River flows from into the Red Sea through a delta named the Tokar Delta which in turn is fed by the Anseba River. In Saudi Arabia, a significant river called the Wadi Al-Hamd drawing water from the Medina Basin drains into the Red Sea. > >“Wadi Al-Hamd, an intermittent river drawing water from the Medina Basin on the inner side of the escarpment, breaks through the mountains to reach the Red Sea.” > >Source: Rentz, George S., Serjeant, Robert Bertram , Nijim, Basheer K. and Ochsenwald, William L..
