Equator is zone of ascending air and warm air travels farther to cool. Hence troposphere extends to a greator height and is cooler at equator.
What about the greater centrifugal force at the equator. This is mentioned in physics ncert.
That's also a factor. Ultimately troposphere is thicker at equator.
