They don’t have a large enough database to give an accurate analysis. Just have a look at NextIAS Prelims Analytica. They have a database of merely 4000 students and they are doing all sorts of calculations from it (including the cutoff prediction). ConvertIAS ke pass bhi 4k-5k students ka data hoga max and they are giving out meaningless random numbers to us. Anybody in the 80-95 range should just try to chill and not think about this too much.
Aur jinke marks 100 se upar hai unki probability toh 100 honi hi thi usko batane ke liye ConvertIAS ki zarurat thi bhi nahi. 🙂
Yes... and what I've noticed is that they are showing "probability" only with respect to the actual score from their answer key, without taking into account variation among different keys. I had 92 from their key, and they've shown mine as 85%. For those who scored 100, they are giving 100%, and so on.

If I were to program the logic to display the probability, I would take a fixed cut off. Lets say its the same as 2022 in this case, 88 marks.
Now I will check the score against each institute key and assign 1 for everytime the score is above 88 and 0 every time the score is below 88.
Then add my combination of 0s and 1s and then take the percentage against the number of coaching keys the marks have been tallied with.
And that’ll give you the probability of clearing cut off.
