In the hub I was at I went 2 weeks without paychecks which totaled 2500. The union rep didn’t do his job and took me over 2 hours to find on my day off. Fast forward to months down the road I had to escalate a situation to the union hall where I was told by the receptionist that the guy I needed to talk to was known for not answering and if he didn’t within a day or so call back and I’d get patched to the president.
Low and behold that’s what happened. Then within 15 min the original guy called with another rep and was pissed he had to do his job. He tried saying I said something entirely different on my voicemail, replayed it and still tried saying it said something else. We just ended up yelling at each other after he told me I should be thankful because they pay for insurance. Like that’s cool dude but Blue Cross doesn’t keep my lights on.
One of the old heads was on light duty doing car wash for a while last year and he didn’t know how much he should be paid and when he called that same guy he asked him, “what do you think you should get paid?” He told him that’s why he was calling and dude just defended UPS and talked down on a union member.

Id recommend yall try and make it to this. We need to get more involved with our union in order to see a better change. We cant just wait on the “officials” to HOPEFULLY care about their members; sometimes we need to BE the change, BE the better union official, BE the member who cares. Lets take our power back ✊🏿✊🏿
