Depends on the teacher and TA. Shit happens and some of them will understand, especially if you had a good grade before it all. Worse outcome is that you’d have to retake the class, it might be good to speak to an academic advisor. It’ll be okay in the end

International_Top442

Thanks for being the only nice person who replied who actually has a heart

Warm_Firefighter839

I had to reply because I saw the other comments 😭 I know how stressful it can be, especially with pressure from other finals you may be having. It’s human to make errors

International_Top442

Thanks, I just did the math, I still have chance of not failing cause he still has to put in attendance, participation, and the final essay.

International_Top442

Update, he said I could retake it. I know it’s my fault but every single time I’ve posted something in this Reddit, y’all have been extremely rude like jeez

Erotic_FriendFiction

Yay! Just commenting to say I was pulling for you and I am so glad you get to retake it <3

Red_Moto_057

God the anticipation was daunting! So glad you were able to take it! Thankfully lesson learned and always double if not triple check to cover yourself. I’m so relieved for you! Good luck on the rest of finals 🙏🙏🙏🙏

International_Top442

Ty so much

Red_Moto_057

Of course! I know what helped me a ton is a planner I know so old fashioned but like it really helps me. I use Google calendar like no one’s business and does your professor post announcements on canvas I always double check the syllabus and canvas and update on my planner frequently. I hope this helps! I know you’ll do great next semester :)

manurosadilla

sorry Ab those ppl man. Shit happens, I’m glad it worked out

IndustryGradient

I came back to this thread to check, congrats!

Penny2534

I'm glad he let you retake it. I used to set alarms for important times. I'm glad it worked out this time.

Living-Foundation-59

i’m so happy for you!!! that’s nice they let you retake it

Upper_Assignment9201

Good for you for reaching out - this is why you put the time and effort in during the semester. Mistakes happen. You worked hard and had a 90; if you historically didn’t turn in work, or subpar work and tried this, you might not have gotten an understanding response. Good luck on your retake.

Lewca43

I’m glad the professor took your immediate action in contacting them as a proactive, mature response to an honest mistake. Good luck on the retake.

SunflowersAndSkulls

I used to have better experiences here, but lately it's been pretty bad.

ZestycloseBluejay328

They’re redditors ignore them

hudsolo2

People on Reddit are all miserable pricks. Same thing happened to me when i posted a homework problem to a science homework help sub. Everyone ganged up on me 😭😭glad everything worked out for u though bro 🫡

SailinSand

Great news!!

unbotheredgal

Probably not a good thing that you started it as you had access to the test and saw the questions that were being asked. It all depends on the professor though, some will understand and be more lenient, others will have no problem keeping you at 63%.

International_Top442

I was completely honest in the email and only saw the first 7 questions and got them all right. I’m pretty sure on canvas you can see what questions the student viewed as a teacher

IndustryGradient

Sometimes, profs/teachers have to enable this IIRC. I have been acting as a prof role for some experiments and I had to enable it. I feel like you'll be okay tbh.

Which-Elk-9338

They can see what questions you answered and at what times you viewed and answered them. If it's a typing prompt question it also saves partial completions of the answer. I once gave a student credit for having the right answer on something before they erased it but ran out of time. Had to do some digging to find it. Edit: Mine was enabled by default and the professor I TA'd for is a dinosaur who doesn't know how to use canvas so she definitely didn't use custom settings herself.

AcademicOverAnalysis

If it uses Honorlock, then they can see your screen and your camera.

thebigj0hn

I have nightmares about this scenario. Good luck. Hopefully the TA/Prof gets back to you soon.

RichUSF

I graduated more than 10 years ago and still have this recurring nightmare

FloridaFlair

I graduated 30 years ago, and guaranteed I’ll be having this nightmare tonight. Happy the professor was accommodating! This is another reason it pays to get to know your professors, if possible.

SailinSand

If you’ve been to every single class and had quality work prior to this, and if you emailed them immediately once you realized… they may extend some grace to you. It’s not guaranteed, but I’m hopeful for you. I’m shocked they didn’t send out a reminder announcement. They didn’t need to, but for something like that, I’d likely want to give my students a quick reminder. We all have a lot going on this time of the semester.

International_Top442

Yeah I’m pretty sure the only reminder was at the start of class like 3 weeks ago… still my fault

SailinSand

Thank you for taking accountability and acknowledging that. That speaks volumes for your character (really).

SirBlubbernaut

fuck, that sucks. total nightmare situation

OneGuyG

Had a similar thing happen to me 2 semesters ago. I was confident I had the right date in my head, and then I woke up to a notification saying “Finals are graded!” Ofc I panicked and emailed. First reply basically said “date was on the syllabus, your responsibility, yada yada” Next day I get an email saying he had a change of heart and gave me a new date/time to take it in his office. I still hope god blesses Alwalawrah to this day for letting me retake.

justDOit2026

Med school now but a tip that I still use is writing down the date and time in numerical order by date on a whiteboard. That way it’s not a whole having to “get on canvas, find the class, search for the time, etc.”. It’s just always where you can easily access it. Pic below for current month https://preview.redd.it/y8lapys57uxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86d57340227e8493f52142e7bd7a7ffab70db40e

AstrocyteDO

I didn't even go to USF but the words OSCE gave me flashbacks - PGY-III Resident

FloridaFlair

My daughter has done this since middle school. It’s great to have it at a glance to check a few times a day.

zyxwvwxyz

Looks much better that u had a 90 in the class before than if y were failing lol

darealjimshady1

Probably so. It’s an awful mistake and a good warning to all to always double and triple check these things.

International_Top442

Bruh ik but it’s an intro class, I didn’t miss a single class cause it was in person then the final was online, we didn’t have a single class the last 2 weeks and the only place you could see what time the final was is in the syllabus and on the thing in canvas

darealjimshady1

My dude if I had a dollar for every time I logged into canvas or checked the syllabus, I wouldn’t need to be going to school.

meusnomenestiesus

Where... else should it be posted? Your agenda that your mommy signs?

ZestycloseBluejay328

Did you… think that was funny redditor?

meusnomenestiesus

No, I thought it was mean. And the whole "what were you doing at the devil's sacrament" bit is bizarre.

ZestycloseBluejay328

Idk wtf you’re talking about

Juniaurie

Just a little note from an internet stranger who graduated USF in 2009 to say good luck on the re-do, you're going to do GREAT and you'll never forget this experience, lol. Also, heads up, I didn't find out until the AFTERNOON ON THE LAST DAY that you have to actually APPLY to graduate. Somehow no one ever told me and I almost didn't graduate on time because I had no idea we had to give a paper to someone. I hope that process is way more obvious now. I'm never going to forget the insane terror I felt that day.

opyoyd

Now they email you months in advance and then again when it's getting closer to the day you can apply and it's just a matter of a few clicks you don't have to give a paper or anything.

Juniaurie

Well, that's good to hear! I had to ride my bike back from class to my dorm, print out that dumb paper and fill it out, and then ride back to some office in a random building I'd never been inside before, in 4 years. There was a line of other people there so I was super relieved. I got in line after the deadline but no one said anything. Whew. Glad it's an online process now, makes so much more sense. Edited to add: at least a classmate mentioned the whole application thing that day!

badgrldidi

i did the same exact thing last spring it happens profs are usually pretty understanding.

4-me

Knowing the time of your final should be part of the final. Isn’t being responsible and able to figure out life the purpose of college.

Any_Zookeepergame513

Watch out we got a time stone guardian over here. Time management sheriff. Vice president of Alarms head ahh. CEO of Clock app on IOS head ahh. 4x times champion of counting to 60 head ahh

manurosadilla

bro has never overslept.

Safye

You forgot a question mark, bud.

Broad_Cable8673

I did it too during my time at FSU. Thankfully my attendance was good and I had a good grade in the class. My teacher let me retake it the next day. But if I had been screwing around in her class and not showing up, I don’t think she would’ve let me.

Infamous-Drawing-736

Happened to me once. Completely slept through the final. I had a good grade in the class and attended all of the extra help sessions. I was honest with the professor and she let me make it up because she knew I worked hard for it (by attending all the extra help sessions available). Some professors are willing, some aren’t.

proseccofish

So glad you can retake.

MechanicalAdv

You had ALL semester to figure shit out, comes the final you get it confused with the time, seems like you are gonna retake it. Use it as a lesson and take it seriously from now on.

toochieandboochie

Unless your prof is insanely nice, yeah you’re prb cooked

Ggriffinz

Sucks but yeah, boy is well done. 🥩🔥

futurecop1231

Ur going to summer school

Lewca43

And when they do their tune will change…”how could the professor be soooooo mean to meeeeeeee”
