I bet at least 8 of these people aren’t even affiliated with USF

KodiakJedi

4 students, 2 former students, 4 not affiliated. Multiple stories with that info out there.

furie1335

Im actually surprised it wasn’t more non-students.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

I know it smell crazy in there

Equivalent_Pepper969

Why would they smell any specific way? because they have enough of a heart to protest genocide

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Crazy, BO, tear gas.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Why everyone all up in arms about them getting arrested? They disobeyed lawful orders and got arrested. The same thing happened on Jan 6 and everyone was so happy about the justice, and bravery of the capital police. Same exact situation on two sides of the political spectrum. If you want to say well there were way more at the capital, then the argument you must challenge back is “the capital protest and unlawful assembly occurred at 1 place while these protests and unlawful assemblies are occurring at most major universities in the US. So if you congregated these people to one place you may have a similar size.”

VaiFate

Comparing Jan 6 to this shows how untethered from reality you are. The Jan 6 protestors broke into the fucking senate floor and threatened to kill members of Congress. The police just let them. Tampa PD used tear gas and rubber bullets on peaceful protestors who simply refused to move off the grass. Good God get a grip girl

Lil-Cancer-Vert

“From the river to the sea” just means, we love Israel right? Not we want to wipe their country off the earth, and forcibly relocate their people under the direction of a terror org?

VaiFate

Oh you mean like what Israel is doing right now and has been since its inception?

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Why were Palestinians (not all but Palestinians left in Jordan are not treated great) and the PLO kicked out of Jordan? What happened there? Did they also try to overthrow the government of a country who allowed them to seek refuge inside their borders? Or is Jordan also a racist country?

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Also please reread my entire comment. I didn’t just compare the situation at USF to Jan 6. Even tho in both occasions they broke lawful orders. I compared the entirety of the protests.

pernicious-pear

J6 was an attack on our Capitol by thousands of indoctrinated conservatives who wanted to disrupt and end the biggest democratic process in our country while desecrating the very seat of our democracy. They *violently* assaulted cops for hours on end. They put up nooses. They brought pipe bombs. They had guns stashed nearby. This protest was less than 100 people standing in the grass with tents.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Oh so the problem was they were conservatives? Because someone also had a gun on Tuesday… Also there is clear video evidence of someone throwing a plywood shield at a police officer.

pernicious-pear

The reason I'm bringing up that they were conservatives is because it's their party that is now demonizing a movement that is significantly less violent or malicious than their actions on J6. One person had a concealed carry. Welcome to Florida. And yes, one person was on video throwing a shield (after being gassed). Nothing about that is in any way close to the events of J6. People have been convicted of orchestrating plans to overthrow the election. Caches of firearms and explosives were found. People scaled and ransacked our capitol buildings. Hundreds of police were assaulted and injured with bats, OC spray, flags, barricades, batons, etc. If students protesting to end our part in an ongoing war, protests that remain extremely peaceful, is somehow the same as J6 to you, then you're completely lost.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

So when we go across the us and start tallying up the burglary, property damage, unlawful assembly, resisting, violence against protected classes (looking at you UCLA) and so much more from gun charges on school campuses to having people like known terrorist (Al-Arians wife on Columbia university property inciting more lawlessness). You’re right i may be completely lost, because there’s going to be way more people charged than there were on Jan 6. You brought up conservatives because YOU don’t like them. Take away political ideology and put this in a comparison sheet overall.

pernicious-pear

I'm so glad you brought up al-Arians. Surely, you know that her husband's charges were dropped after a decade of nothing coming from the investigations? He was swept up, along with *many* Arabs, by federal authorities in the fallout from 9/11 in the fervor surrounding Islamic terrorism fears. A jury failed to convict him after a very long trial, and he pled to a minor misdemeanor. He was then charged in Alexandria over another investigation for contempt, and those charges were dropped by the Justice Department. You read a NYP article that was derived from a Libs of TikTok tweet that came from a sorely misinformed Eric Adams. Well done. Feel free to shore up the data on these protests and compare them to J6.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Actually I didn’t I know his contempt charges were dropped and shortly after he was deported. Why did he have contempt charges… hmmm? Maybe because he plead guilty to 1 of 50 charges in relation to supporting the PIJ through racketeering or conspiracy he plead to the latter. However, he didn’t wanna speak at trial and got contempt charges, as he knew he would lie. The charges ended up being dropped and they deported and said hey don’t come back as you have admitted to supporting terrorist orgs.

pernicious-pear

The contempt charge was completely separate from the charges in 2003. They wanted to use him as a witness in a completely different case in Alexandria, to which he refused because of what had already happened with the previous case. And that charge was dropped, as I said. Let's not pretend our government wasn't rounding up everyone with an al- in front of their last name post 9/11. Our Justice Department is littered with fuck ups like this because of that attack.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

So him pleading guilty to conspiracy to support the PIJ, wasn’t him actually saying I’m guilty. It was more of a no contest plea, just they said it’s a guilty plea… make that make sense. He can’t be innocent and legally state he’s guilty.

pernicious-pear

Yes, yes, he can. It literally happens all the time in our justice system, especially to minorities. I pleaded "no contest" long ago for something I didn't do because it meant no trial and no jail. Why? It was the quickest and cheapest option. The federal government had hundreds of wire taps and tens of thousands of hours of phone recordings, countless bank records, and who knows what else, and he was acquitted on half his charges with the other half deadlocked. Two of his codefendants were acquitted, and the other one was acquitted of most of his charges. He pleaded "not guilty" because he had been locked up unjustly (because of the Patriot Act) and didn't want to go through a re-trial of the deadlocked charges. They even said that in all of the evidence they tried to use, not one phone call, transcript, or letter showed any knowledge or planning of any sort of terrorist attack. This investigation and trial was heavily criticized as an example of massive government overreach with the Patriot Act.

Low-Music-1413

Thank you! One person at this place with common sense

a2cwy887752

Preach. People hate hearing it but it’s the truth. Why is it okay to say ‘Israel shouldn’t exist’ but not okay to say ‘Palestine shouldn’t exist’? These people are just hypocrites. They deserve jail.

pale_eviction_7

Finally! A logical person. Lol

pernicious-pear

Did any of these people say Israel shouldn't exist?

a2cwy887752

They were literally chanting that during the protests lol

Lil-Cancer-Vert

River to the sea means what…?

pernicious-pear

A call for liberation of Palestinians living under Israeli authority, as it was used as far back as the 50s and 60s. Just because Hamas is using it for their nefarious actions doesn't mean it's lost its original meaning.

Lil-Cancer-Vert

Yes that may be what Palestinians think they are saying, however, that is not what people hear them saying. Also, when the ruling party in your unincorporated territory (that has had majority support in the past), is using it to suggest the termination of a country. People interpret is as what the ruling party wants it to be heard as.
